Thank you for all your advise. I think that Late August is going to be the best time for us all to go. I've just checked prices and we're probably looking at an extra £500 - £700. As much as I would love to go in October it would still mean taking the kids out of school for a week before half term and I really don't think that would be fair on our son during a very important year. TGM sounds like it could help out too.

I think Easter may already be booked and I think you should check out what flights are available for the end of August.

I could not get the Virgin Flydrive from Gatwick I wanted for October 2006 when I booked a month ago and had to book with BA.

Good luck. Please let us know how you get on as we are thinking of going last two weeks of August in 2007 to get value on our APs.

I would vote for the last two weeks in August. We go at that time every year. The weather is hot and humid.. but its ok... the crowds are pretty low..
And we Love TGM too!

We used to be able to take our son out of school and to a degree we still can, however, as my wife now works as a school teacher we are really limited to the summer holidays, hence our 3 week booking for next August.

October is a good time to go, ideal weather and low crowds, however, having just come back about 4 weeks ago, we went 13th to 27th August although the weather was in the 90s each day the crowds were very low.
Most US schools have returned by the middle of the month so this was a big help as we rarely had to queue for any rides.

As already stated the real drawback is the prices, £899 for an adult fly drive for next August with Virgin, which is what we paid and why we are going for 3 weeks.
