Hi all,
So, we have got our date :cheer2: and we have got every single ADR we wanted for our 2 week holiday:woohoo:

BUT the one thing we HAVEN'T been able to book is the Grand 1 for Wishes :sad2: (it's already booked up!)

So, we need a new plan. We will be 17 people, and don't really want to split them getting 2 pontoon boats.

We want to do something a bit different, I really like the look of some of the grand gatherings, but most of our guests are off property :sad2: and we don't want to oblige them to park passes either. (Is there ANY way we can get round this?)

We don't really want to just book a restaurant, and we don't want just a DP. We want to do something a bit more memorable and special.

Anyone have any ideas? PLEEEEEASE???

Can't help with your questions but wanted to say congratulations on getting your date :)
What a shame about the Grand 1, how comes its already booked out so early? im really hoping for this for my wedding date will be gutted if it gets booked before I have the chance

Hello fellow UK Bride!

I don't know if this helps you in anyway but I have heard that the pontoon boats are actually tied together when you watch Wishes. I've been looking into all of the options because there are too many of us :sad2: for Grand 1 (20 of us). Check out Bride-to-Be's amazing trip report, she had a fleet of pontoon boats and it looked great.

Hope this is of some help and glad everything else is working out well for you! :goodvibes

No idea how come it's booked already - technically it's not 180 days until tomorrow! So, you can imagine I was gutted.

Had no idea about the tying together of pontoon boats, that MIGHT work - maybe we'll give them a call!

Any further ideas welcome just in case
and thanks guys!

If all else fails then maybe you could have a dessert party from Grand Floridian overlooking the lake. That way you would still see Wishes..and have cake!

Sorry I just re read you post saying you don't want a DP. :rolleyes1

We are even considering a DP now too, so thanks for that!
I know 10/10/10 is really busy, (we had to go into a lottery to get the date at all) but the 180 days is tomorrow, and if you can only book 180 days out then, that should be that?
Anyway, no point getting upset (although we would have LOVED this) need to make a new plan!

Maybe you could do the Grand 1 as your rehearsal dinner the night before, if it's available and you really want to do it, and then do something else like a DP the night of your wedding.

If you're staying on site I think you can book 190 days out, so maybe thats how someone beat you to it :(

we are staying on site. It's another reason to never book disney with First Choice again to be honest, since we had to beg and grovel to get them to even acknowledge that we needed a reference number to make ADRs and THEN Disney said the reference we had wouldn't work for 190 days!:sad2:
DISNEY then provided us (after we had made our regular ADRs) with the proper reference number.

I feel sadder about it today actually. We are thinking to book dinner at Artist Point (we are staying at WL anyway, so we thought it would make a nice choice of "special" restaurant?)

But I am sad because however good the dinner is, it will be "just" dinner, the fireworks on Grand 1 was all part of my little dream.

I thought the grand gatherings looked great too, and would have felt better if we could have gone for something like that, but since most of our guests are off site and won't have passes it was impossible, so, since it's a sunday there were limited options really.:sad2::sad2::sad2:

I keep telling myself that there are more special things about the day than that, but I still feel a bit sad.

We thought hard about the pontoons but we worried about the small children (DS is 3 and other guests have equally young children too)

Your wedding co-ord can now book it for you though so maybe another bride beat you to it.

Claire is this deffiently true? i had heard a rumour but wasn't sure. Can they book it at any point then? and im guessing as it's not a catered event it doesn't trigger that new stupid $7500 min spend.

Im sorry to hear the trouble you've had  and how disapointed you are about missing out on the Grand 1, I don't know how disapointed you must be feeling but I can imagine because I'd be exactly the same. I intend to hire it out as watching Wishes on my wedding night will just finish the day of perfectly for me, it's a must and i'd be completely gutted if this doesn't happen.
I really hope you can think up something that works for you or even better maybe the people who have already booke dit may cancel? :confused3

I read it on here. It wasn't an option when I tried to book it in September for December so it is a new option.

When I asked my co-ordinator she said she couldn't book it and we would have to do it 180 days out, but maybe it's a really new thing (like in the last 2 months) or,maybe it's *** we are Escape?
ANYWAY, we have a provisional booking for Artist Point (to be confirmed by e mail in the next day or two - the actual manager was off sick today), so, hopefully that'll be nice, and we will just have to DEFINITELY see the fireworks another night
