ok so we have been from one party to the next all weekend. we went to a bday party yesterday to my great nieces dance recital to a graduation party today to a birthday party to another graduation party. i am completely wiped out. so here's my dilemma....

i bought my bubba a nice new pair of shorts at the childrens place to wear today, (because i always like him to look nice) and they are tan and i bought them a while ago, because i was trying to plan ahead of what he would wear and when. so today at the bday party he took a bite of his pizza and it was so hot the cheese slid off and right on his shorts, burnt his leg and wrecked his shorts. so i have washed them as soon as we got home from the last party and i just took them out of the wash and nope did not come out. what in this world will take out pizza grease???? come on ladies this is the 1st time he wore them and hope they are not ruined!!! i have them soaking now in some clorox 2 bleach for colors but i'm looking for some more suggestions in case it does not work!
this is what i get for spending all that $ on a pair of shorts for my 6 year old. i'm usually a bargain shopper and do the whole sale thing, because i need to have scrap $ right!!!!:lmao: but i loved them so much that i just had to have them. -and just for the record, he looked great when the day started. and his leg is ok. thank goodness. i mean that's really what's important. i just would hate to throw these shorts out.
thanks guys!

OMG- I hate it when this happens! All I can suggest is keep washing. I got nail polish out of DD's dress by being persistant and using OxiClean. Good luck and hugs!

thanks ashley. that's my plan. no luck with the clorox stuff. i think i'll try the tide pen next??? uuuuhhhh i'm so upset....my mother said to try the dishwasher tablets??

Whenever I have a stubborn stain, I put a little bit of liquid laundry soap and then powdered clorox 2 or oxiclean on the liquid soap. Let it sit, then wash.

Good luck getting that stain out. Hope the little guy's boo boo is feeling better.

OxiClean isn't my favorite product, but it does seem to be best at getting some stains out. The key is to let it sit long enough. Then you have to wash or rinse it twice. Otherwise your clothes will feel icky from the OxiClean. I hate to stick my hand in that water. Have to go wash them right away. :rotfl2:

I agree with you AWM- it does feel strange but I have always had good luck getting out stains with it. I also have bought the spray stain remover so I don't have to make the whole wash feel icky.

Glad it's not just me that thinks it feels weird. It's almost like a slime or film left on your hands and the clothes feel almost crunchy. :rotfl2:

All of us gals seems to be in the same mind set.. OxiClean... I need it w/ 4 boys!!!! Believe me.. How is little guy's leg?

i don't have any oxiclean, but i'll be sure to get some today! i have to run and get my little man waffles so while i'm out i'll pick some up!
thanks everyone. hope it works!!!!

his leg is ok nan. thanks for asking. i could not even believe the whole thing happened. i always stay at the parties- so i can help and of course take pictures ;) - and i watched him get his pizza then i walked around to the other side of the wall and someone said "oh why is john crying"! i was like- "what???? are ya kidding?? what happened??" the lady the owns the party place got him ice right away. if it's gonna happen to someone, it will be my little man!! poor thing. i really felt bad.
today's the last day of school and they are having an ice cream party, so i'm off to have ice cream at 10:00 am. - what better time right?!-

Good luck with the stain! I tried Oxyclean on a stain I had a few years ago, but didn't it mix it right or something because it actually ate a hole in my shorts! I think I had it a little too concentrated! Oops!

I find that regular Tide, scrubbed in and left to set for a while, works well. I think I've managed to only leave a stain on 1 of Owen's outfits in his first year. I'm impressed!

rubbing alcohol. I swear!!!
I got red wine out of DH's yellow dress shirt with it.
Dish soap works well too, especially Dawn on greasy stains.

Oh, that's good to know, since I spilled red wine on DH's favorite shorts and he hasn't let me forget it.

Go wash them now. And then stick your tongue out at him when they are all better. Always makes me feel better.

It takes time, and a whole lot of scrubbing but it works. I got the shirt a week later. The waitress knocked over a glass the first day of a business trip.

Gonzo works well too. I used that on the red wine stain too.

thanks everyone. i'm still trying to get it out! i just can not throw them away. i just can't!

I see B&MB already suggested Dawn dish liquid. That's my first line of defense for all grease/oil stains. If you can catch it while it's still wet, sometimes just pouring Era directly on it is enough - even for greasy stains, but I'm afraid it's already too long for the shorts. :(

I was looking over the weekend for something to get machine oil stains out of DS' dobuk - his good one from the World Championships! :sad1: He was running late one day recently & went directly to teach TKD for 4 hours without stopping here to shower first. (He works assembling motors & controllers for wheelchairs, etc.) It's positively awful!! These huge orange stains at all the "sweat points" like the collar, wrists, arm pits - all the places where the material is multiple layers. He & I took turns scrubbing for a couple hours, but I'm afraid we'd rub through a layer before we got out enough for him to be able to wear it. We're out of Oxy-Clean but will try that and then maybe ask at the dry cleaner. I feel so bad for him.

Gojo Hand Cleaner (it has a star as the dot in the j) works wonders on grease. It is a hand cleaner that is used by car mechanics. The container says "for removing heavy grease". It literally liquifies the grease on their hands. We have a huge container in our garage for hands, but we also have a small container in our laundry room now for clothes grease.

What I do is rub a little on the grease and then throw it in the washer. Most of the time, it works fine that way. I have used it on things that have already been in the dryer too. It may not be good for all fabric, so you might want to use it in an inconspicuous spot to see how the fabric will react. Because I don't like the smell (even when it's used on hands), I wash everything at least twice. It has not worked 100% of the time, but it has been close.

I think just about anybody that works on their own car knows what it is. Maybe they can even spare a dab for you. :goodvibes
