Seriously if I was told that we could only have that menu I would have never chose it.I am sorry I am just so frustrated becasue I was looking forward to ordering the crab cakes and either the pork loin or steak. Now hopefully I have enough time to book something decent. Is there anywhere nice around the boardwalk area that will not serve freaking bird food. I don't like anything off that menu!

Sorry for the rant I am just beyond ticked off.

that menu is crazy. not at all what i would have expected either.

have you thought about cali grill? i'm not a fan of spoodles, which is on the bw, but flying fish is really good. how about the yachtsman steakhouse? i think that's at the yb. OR the portobello yacht club is at dtd and it's good too!

That's pretty much pulled from the regular lunch menu there(we had lunch there Friday after Thanksgiving, I had the tuna nicoise salad).

How about some place over at DTD?

Check out Raglan Road lunch menu, they have entrees for lunch, so I would assume they could put a menu together for you.

House of Blues is another of our favorites, and I think they have entrees on their lunch menu also.

Those are our 2 favorite DTD rest. I think you had WGP cafe originally? The service stunk over there, but I really like his express places(but not appropriate for your needs).

Lynn, you should try calling GF Cafe and asking if you can put together your own set menu. My mom dealt with them while putting together our rehearsal luncheon, and she said they were really nice. She spoke with Linda Sgallata, and said she was awesome...it's worth a try and if you push hard enough they might give in.

I think Lynn is looking for someplace for lunch.

Linda is who I am talking to right now,she emailed the menu to me today.I asked if I could pick things off the menu and they said they can't change it!!!

Lynn,
You should look into DTD restaurants. At one point, when I was considering an Escape wedding I contacted Portobello and a few other restaurants and they had several options for lunch menus that were not just sandwiches. I will search my emails and see if I can find any of the menus they sent. Portobello was first on my list because they have private areas for groups of various sizes.

Good luck,
Nikki

I think there's not much around BW/YC/BC area which is open during lunch.
Maybe ESPN and the Big Grille... I don't recommend either for lunch.

There's captain's grille
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_ygl.htm

but their menu is mostly sandwiches too.

What about Kona Cafe?
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_kcl.htm

Or maybe Concourse Steakhouse
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_csl.htm

Or if your guests will have park ticket you could try Le Cellier or Brown Derby:
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_lcl.htm
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_bdl.htm
Altho they are very popular so maybe there'll be little availability.

Sorry about the pain...

Have you thought of a late bfast?
Spoodles has a good bfast menu... and if you do a late bfast at aroud 11am that might work. Or Cape may char bfast?

Just giving you some options... :)

Since you are looking in the Boardwalk area you might also look at these places:

Big River Grille and Brewing Company

Fresh (at the Dolphin)

Garden Grove Cafe (at the Swan)

Captain's Grille (at the Yacht Club)

Park restaurants are out, as you can't go in your "wedding attire" . I checked out Cape May and the last seating for ADR's is 10:40 or so, so that's not going to work.

Concourse steakhouse is closing sometime in May(been there for dinner a few years ago and it's not very good, the picky eaters wanted to go there instead of Cali Grill:headache: ).

Other than DTD, I can't think of any place to get a nice lunch outside of the parks. I don't know what the Swan and Dolphin have for lunch.

You might try Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney. That was the nicest place that I could find for a post-ceremony luncheon in terms of atmosphere and menu. There are sandwiches on the menu, but they also have seafood, pasta & chicken entrees. Plus I believe they'll also customize a menu for you (our group is too small). You can make reservations through Disney Dining. From their website, this is the number to call to arrange for a special event: 407.828.8996

Good luck!

Oh Lynn

I am sorry you are having this stress so close to your wedding. I am sure you will find someplace wonderful for your wedding luncheon.

All the wonderful girls on this board have given you some good options.

Try to relax and i'm sure it is going to all turn out beautiful. Lori

Hi Lynn,
I had my wedding luncheon at the Portobello Yacht Club in DTD this past December. I was emailed special menus and I didn't want everything that were on the menus so I picked them apart and chose what I wanted and negotiated the price. I did not chose dessert because we were bringing our own cake. I did choose a cesar salad and a house salad for starters, for our entrees we had chicken and ribeye steak( very yummy.) I went with an open bar because I knew it would be cheaper as we weren't big drinkers. My menu price was $40 it also included soda, coffee and tea. I hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions.

Lynn,

Christine (purplegirl247) used Portabello's and was very pleased too. She said there was very little lunch traffic so they practically had the place to themselves. PM her for more info !

Oops... sorry wasn't paying attn. I thought this was for a day after the wedding... :(

Lynn, Fulton does lunch too.
And it's pretty cool to eat in a boat... :)
Or Wolfgang puck. They have an "upstairs" but I'm not sure what the minimums for that is.

Or since you're having an intimate I'm not sure what your budget for this lunch is.
Since we're having wishes, there was an option of using one of the rooms in boardwalk for our farewell meal.
There is a min $1000 of food and beverages.
The menu ranges from $44 (I think)~$52 for a buffet and then if you add alcohol into it I think you'll be able to meet your min. That might be another option.

That stinks about the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's a beautiful restaurant, but I agree with you about wanting a more substantial meal for your wedding luncheon!

We had our wedding luncheon at Portobello Yacht Club this past December and they were fantastic! I would highly recommend them! We had a four course meal which began with a four cheese flatbread pizza, their signature salad, a choice of a salmon, chicken or veggie entree and then our wedding cake served with chocolate covered strawberries. Coffee and tea were included, but other beverages were extra. We were not charged a cake cutting fee. It was about $38 per person for the adults and VERY inexpensive (not sure how much exactly) for the two kids in our party. We sat in the Rose Garden Corridor, which is their semi-private section. (They don't have a private room.) It was really nice and one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.

Good luck with your decision!

That's what has me leaning to a Wishes VR! Thought about doing a 10 at SBP or YCG, but you can't hit Cape May for brunch/breakfast. The noon ceremony you could do a preceremony breakfast somewhere at BC/BW area, then do a dinner later sans wedding attire.

The Escape/ dining problem gives me a :headache: .

Thank you everybody very very much!!!

Well Linda had emailed me back and said that we could use the regular lunch menu Thank God. I just wanted to add have the steak, pork loin and crab cakes at least in the menu so people could have something rather than a sandwich.

Now I wish I would have looked into portebello, the menu sounds good...but I'm going to stick with GFC,as it was our first choice.

I feel so bad,I kind of freaked on Linda..I apologized to her. It was just that today Tim's mom was driving us nuts about the wedding and then this just added on the top of it!!!

Sorry for my rant and thank you all for the help...I think I am going to have to add to the planning journal about what else happened today,UGH!!!

Hiya hun, good news on the menu. Phew!!

Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions? We are hoping to do the same as you and have lunch at the GF Cafe. How did the wedding planner get involved in it - don't you just book it through WDW-DINE or the group booking number? Why did they initially say it was a fixed menu - was that because it was a wedding party? I thought we would need to book our meal with the main dining number as it was an Escape wedding.

I wouldn't worry about freaking with Linda. I'm sure they get used to it and with it being so close to your date it is completely understandable.
