Help picking resort

Okay so my husband brought up something and I want opinions. He heard from someone we can pay for a standard room at Pop but ask for 60s 4th floor and be able to face hour glass lake. If we did that we could turn our 5 night trip into a 7 night trip. Would it be worth it to stay at pop in a standard vs a moderate like CBR?
Yes, you can request a certain location but requests are just that: requests. You may be placed anywhere in the resort.

I would always pick a longer vacation over a shorter one. I think that POP is a perfectly fine resort for your family considering your son is still so young.

Well just my two cents... I would stick to a mod resort. When I'm on vacation, I like to see lush grounds, tons of flowers, and be surrounded by a beautiful resort - with a river or a lake. Mods have a more relaxing atmosphere, much needed after a long day at the parks. All the mods are really pretty. The values are cute, but too much concrete for me.

Your son will love the water area at CBR. The giant palm trees and Caribbean vibe are fun and vacationy, lol. I also love POR very much. It's a beautiful resort, great food court. They just refurbished Ole Man Island, the main pool there, but unfortunately there is no water play area for kids. However, you could walk over to POFQ and use the brand new kids splash area over there. So I'd stick to CBR or POR or even POFQ (though I don't think POFQ participates in free dining or any discounted offers for that matter).

Maybe bring a cheap umbrella stroller for the long walks at the resort or rent one from one of those places like Kingdom or Magic. My granddaughters will be 3 soon and are going to Disney for the first time in a couple months. I can't wait to see how they like it. Have fun!!!

Stayed at Pop last visit and had no problems with it. We were in 70s first floor probably wouldn't do 1st floor again but other then that we had an excellent trip. Also 2 extra days I say go for it. :yay:

I would go for a moderate. Any room at POFQ or mansion area at POR.

CBR is beautiful but our least favorite moderate. Your son wont be old enough to really enjoy the pool to the full and IMO CBR's pirate pool for little ones is the only thing CBR has going for it over the other mods. With the boat to DS at POR I think you would enjoy it far more.

Okay question about POP. If we stay there what would be good requests. We are booking a preferred room and wanted to ask for top floor and lake view for the fireworks. We don't want to request a certain era because we feel the lake view and top floor are more important

POP is great for little kids. They really love the theming! Plus, like another poster said if staying at POP means an extra 2 days at Disney it may be worth it for your family. For us, the resort is a place to sleep. We do not spend much time in our room so POP is perfect for us.
It is clean and newer than the other values. As well, the food court has a decent selection of food. If you have time, you can go over to AoA to check it out. The food court there is good.

Thanks! So we have switched to Pop to stay more days. Here is the plan now:
Drive down (11 hrs) 1/2 on Saturday and finish on Sunday 10/30. Do the mickey Halloween 10/31, park days 11/1-11/3. Pool/relax day 11/4 check out and drive home 11/5 and 11/6.

Yay! Two more Disney days! You made the right choice! And on your relax at the resort day you can walk over the bridge and view all of the wonderful themed icons and decor of AoA including The Cars section. Enjoy your trip!

Just state exactly what's important in order. 1)lake view, 2) top floor. Or vise versa. If you have a bldg. You could throw that in third. This way they know what is really important to and can better work with you. But, please understand not to let this impact your vacation, and have a good attitude. I have been quite a few times and only had a request met once. If you are unfortunate in what you're given, you could still ask, politely, if they could look to see if anything more tof your liking is available. Some people send a nice fax a week before reiterating there request.

Does having a Disney authorized TA help with that? We are booking through one and didn't know if it would help with requests. I know preferred rooms at only in 50s, 60s, and 70s so I may leave there era off and just ask for lake you and not ground floor.

How you book has zero affect on getting your requests granted.

Thank you. I think we will just ask for a higher floor because with a toddler the noise level is what we are most concerned with besides being in a preferred room for distance from the lobby.

The AoA suites are amazing! I stayed in a Nemo suite with my friends last Spring. You and your family would have more then enough room if you decided to stay there, as it is made to fit up to 6 people. If your son is a Cars fan though, I would go for it!

And if you don't stay thrre, but stay at POP, you can easily walk over, and you have to, because the cars area is super cool with all the cars out there, it really does look like the movie, so definetly walk ovrr!

Great choice! Make sure that you know exactly when the Halloween tickets go on sale because the ones on the 31st sell out first.
