I love love love the Spirit of Aloha. The kids like it, hubby's feeling are in between mine and the kids. Being from New England, anything tropical is relaxing! Its an entertaining show w/ good food. We Always walk over to the beach after the show and watch the electric light parade.
I havent done the HDDR in a bunch of years. I wasnt crazy about it, my older son (about 12 at the time) thought it was hysterical, younger son (about 9 at the time)thought it was OK. Its kind of loud / corny humor. I did not like the food. I dont eat anything with bones and do not like strawberries. The rest of the family ate it fine, but did not rave.
Mickeys BBQ - I went here for the first time about 6 years ago. I expected to hate it. I never listen to country music and if given the choice, would not have burgers/hot dogs for dinner.
OMG....we had a blast! You sit at big picnic tables with other families. This was a plus for me..a chance to talk with other adults (kind of getting sick of just talking to hubby all week!!!) Kids talked to some of the kids at our table too. The "house" band was great. EVERYONE was dancing. If you asked me 5 minutes before I got there if I was going to get up and dance I would have said "NO WAY"...but I did!!! They taught line dances (I just watched this, but fun to watch other people make fools of themselves!!! I honestly cant believe that some people actually have NO RYTHYM at all..too funny!) and a lot of Disney characters (Mickey/Minnie/Donald/Goofy and a few more) came to sign autographs and dance with the kids. They had a special appearance by some country singer and some guy doing rope tricks with a lasso. Kids loved it, I loved it, Hubby loved it. The food was typical American BBQ, but I was having so much fun I didnt mind it at all.
Ive been back twice since. The only downer all the times Ive been was when you get there, they take a family picture (which you can purchase while youre dining). Then you stand in an area waiting to get into the show. The area is in the middle of the woods and there is a lot of bugs / mesquitos. Once in the show area, it was fine, but waiting outside was icky. Bring OFF clothes/spray when you go and youll be fine.
