We didn't worry about the cage until afterwards. Go, have fun, do the pick-a-pearl, and then order a cage when you get home!

I definitely second this! I bought a cage before my trip last time and the pearl I picked was too big - I had to buy a new one when I got home.

I think the one the op is looking for the pearl is actually mounted to the setting vs caged like most of those on etsy.

I've read that if you bring your pearl in the original zip top plastic bag, you can have it set there on a later trip.

I got a gorgeous white 7 1/4 mm pearl in 2010. I had it set in a silver swirl cage setting that has tarnished since. My friend who was on the same trip got a similar pearl and had hers drilled with a white gold bail. Needless to say, hers still looks great. I'm going to bring my own tarnished caged pearl back in its bag and see if I can get it drilled like my friend's.

I bought my DW 3 picks last year (Sept. 2015) and she got two of the black pearls (darker colored) and they were both 8 1/4 mm. The third was a gold-ish colored pearl and it was an 8 mm. She has yet to buy anything to put them in.
