Help! No Magic Kingdom reservations available on Christmas Day 🙁

Hello everyone! Thinking about a last minute booking to Orlando for Christmas. We want to go to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day but there are no available reservations.

But if I reserve at another park with a park hopper ticket, will this guarantee I get into Magic Kingdom after 2p on Christmas?

Would reservations have to be made with park hopping tickets?

If you want to try to get into MK, make a reservation for another park, be sure to tap in and then try to hop to MK at 2pm. Depending on how crowded it is, you may or may not get in. If MK reaches capacity you will not get in.

Prior to the reservation system it was somewhat common for MK to have phased closings the week of Christmas/NY. Since the reservation system, MK has only been closed to park hopping once, on October 1, 2021 for the 50th celebration. It’s anyones guess what will happen this year.

The only time it happened since they reopened was the day of the 50th anniversary at MK.

That has only happened once (on 10/1/2021 the MK's 50th) and only for a couple of hours.

Chances are you would get in, just make sure you would be okay with potentially not after spending that much money on a ticket. $252 is a lot for one ticket.

I had the same issue for the 26th, but I keep refreshing the screen, and eventually MK opened up. I tried for a few hours last night refreshing every 5 mins or so and then this morning on about the 4th refresh, it opened up.

I had the web site already to go and clicked it immediately to start the purchase and it work! When I got done, the availability was gone.

So keep trying if you can. We wanted MK cause it's open until 11pm. I didn't want to risk a hopper and get turned away (plus another $200).

Also Christmas day last year was during the Omicron surge, so a **lot** of people cancelled at the last minute / flights got delayed cancelled due to staffing shortages, and WDW likely ended up with fewer people than anticipated.

Based on past threads on disboards, people had routinely said that Christmas day reaches 'At Capacity' pre-Covid. I'm not sure how long that typically took during the day, but I would expect it to reach at capacity at some point during the day.

That's why we went with the 26th. So instead of 1,000,000 people, there will only be 999,000.

Just be prepared it may very well reach capacity as I'm sure tons of others are thinking of doing the same thing. Yes - it has happened only once but if there was any day that it was going to happen again - it's either Xmas or NYE.

It was on a lot of the Disney blogs over the weekend that they dropped more park reservations, so they may continue to add more! Keep looking and good luck!

Just count on it being VERY crowded. The weather will keep many locals away, or at least decrease PHing.

Many locals are blocked out this time of year unless they paid for Incredi-Pass.

I am setting the bar low--I plan on being able to ride 0 rides and get pushed and stepped on 1,000 times.

Is that genie thing still a thing for MK?

It is! You can buy it at midnight, well, right after midnight. Of course, that price went up too. Today it is $25 per person. You can book your first experience at 7am, and I recommend you do that!

And then it's every 2 hours? (we staying at UO) I studied this last year. I should go look at the details.

I am hoping by 9pm the park empties a little, especially if it's 45 degress.
