My friend just told me that they are plannning on going to WDW in October sometime, but the have NO tickets, PS's, etc. Now I'm trying to help and I was wondering if anyone can save me some leg work and give me a heads up as to any current promotions/codes for that time period. (I us usually plan a year+ out, so I"m a little overwhelmed!)It is a family of two adults, 2 kids and they'd be interested in staying at a Value Resort. I'm guessing Ticketmania is still the place to go for MYW passes. They are not AAA members, but might join if it would save some $$$. Also...my friend would like to surprise her DH with the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Are there ANY discounts offered for that?

TIA for any help you can give! :flower:

Too bad they didn't know they wanted to go in October about 2 weeks ago when they were offering the free dining for the early part of October :(

First thing I would do is call and make reservations at the resort of choice. You have 2 weeks to get them the deposit of one night's stay.

As far as discounts, I have no idea - I haven't been seeing the discounts as much with the new packages and promotions WDW is putting out there. They're some great deals!

Good luck though!

I've read on another thread that the AAA packages were saving quite a bit of $$. YOu can go to AAA.com and enter the travel info. THey will either call you or email you with the qoute.

I would go to a disney ta for room reservations rather than doing it myself. The adrs shouldn't be a problem. Some dates in Oct. haven't reached the 90 days yet.

You could also do some searches on disney.com to get an idea of what's available though that website can be quite a pain sometimes.

With the info given, I don't know if AAA is the way to go for them. AAA membership for first time members runs $71 (at least that's what I paid a couple weeks ago). Savings on resorts usually run about 15%...It would take at least a 5 night stay for that to pay for itself at a value resort. There are a few other benefits that AAA offers when you book through them(such as the close parking..which is great if they are driving down and don't mind using the car while there). But then they offer no discounts on tickets. Of course, they would still get all of the non-Disney benefits of AAA.

They may want to consider the dining plan for savings..I am sure that you thought of that already though. Other than that, there having really been any codes released for this time frame (other than check-ins by 10/4/05...but that offer has now expired). So right now, there really isn't much.

We just booked a package with AAA on a moderate with dining plan during Oct. It saved us some money using AAA, but not a lot. But we are driving down and plan to use our car to get to most of the parks..so the AAA Diamond Parking is a great benefit for us. That and our cars are getting old, so AAA may pay off for us in that regard also.

Thanks for the help everyone. I"m not sure AAA is the way to go either. I wish I had known sooner so we could take advantage of the free dining. I'll keep searching though!

I just got my AAA membership 2 weeks ago and it was only $49.00. I saved alot goin threw AAA. They book straight threw disney ..I'm goin in oct and staying in a moderate resort. AAA saved me on the resort price almost $35.00 a night, which i thought was alot. We are staying from mon - sun, so thats a big savings for me. Just my experience though i guess they are all different.
