Help! My Southwest flight is cheaper now!

I know I know use the search engine but I'm skeerd I might do this wrong!

Someone please help me. I booked fares for my January trip and now they are $40 per seat cheaper. Do I apply for a refund of the money to my credit card or for future travel with Southwest? The flights are identical if that helps.

Okay, I just called SW directly and got the low down on how to get my credit. It's done and now I have $80 to use for a future flight. Pretty cool. Thanks anyway guys. I was just a wee bit nervous doing this for the first time.

Great, glad you got help I had to call the first time I found a cheaper flight and the agent helped me through the process as well.

Geeze, I hate when these answers direct you where to go to get additional info, rather than answering the question.

Anyway, when you see your same SW flight posted for a cheaper price than you already paid, you can get a credit to be used within a year on future SW flights.

You go to the SW home page, click on QUICK AIRLINKS, then on CHANGE FLIGHT, enter your confirmation number and name and it walks you thru the process. Basically you select the flight you want to change (even though you are only changing the price and NOT the flight), you check to see that the price is really cheaper than you paid, and if so, select it as if you are purchasing it, and it asks for payment (which you've already done), so it gives you a credit of the difference.

The credit has to be used within 1 year of the original issue date of the ticket. Also, if you use the credit for another ticket, that ticket will have the same expiration date.

AND that credit can ONLY be used for the same person in the future.
