My potluck menu feels disjointed. What can I do to pull it together a little better?

Here's what everyone is bringing.

vegie platter w/ dip
lil' weiners in chili/grape jelly sauce
shimp ring w/ cocktail sauce
sausage bread
nuts
stuffed quahogs (we live in a seafood area - can you tell?)
cheese & crackers & grapes

salad & dressings
lasagna
ham -glazed & sliced
green beans

beverages
desserts - cookies

Its not a sit down meal, but people will have some seats available. Its that lasagna & sliced ham connection I'm having trouble with in my head.

Anything I can add to that while I still have time?

It sounds good to me!

My only suggestion would be maybe rolls? People will then have the chance to make a ham sandwich and or have it for the lasagna. What do you think?

Rolls for sure to make ham sandwiches. Also, some sore of potato I think might be nice. I wouldn't worry about the lasagna/ham connection. Its a potluck, its supposed to be a bit "disjointed".

I think it needs at least one more main dish. You have the lasagna and ham, but it might be nice to have a casserole or two for more variety. I also agree that you need some kind of bread or rolls.

Are you making all of this or asking people to bring different items on the menu (to me a potluck is everyone brings something).

I agree with the others, add a potato dish to the menu.

People are bringing, but I'm providing most of it.

Thanks for the input. I like them & can probably work them in easily.

The first thing I thought of was potato chips and dip. I just love them but only eat them on holidays!

I might also add a antipasto tray - cheese cubes, pickles, olives, carrots, celery.

Last, taco chips with a cheese/bean dip would go nicely.

I agree you should add rolls and I would also serve potato salad, or some form of potato dish.

Your menu is typical for parties around here (minus the seafood) and the only other things that everyone always serves with that menu are rolls, potato salad and chips and dip.

We always have a fresh fruit tray as well.

My first thought was a potato dish(scalloped potatoes or chessy potatoes)
I think Ham / lasagna items together sound nice.
Sounds like a nice spread:thumbsup2
Buns would also be a nice addition

First thing that came to my mind was a potato dish.

If I were eating at your house, I'd either eat salad and lasagna or I'd do salad, ham and ...that's where the potato dish would come in...sort of as a side for the ham.

Rolls would be good too, so people could make a ham sandwich or have a little bread with their pasta.

Don't forget mustard and mayo for the ham sandwiches!

hmmmm, the potato salad would be way easier for me since my grocer sells one we all love & people think I make it. ;)

I agree a potato side dish and rolls would round it out nicely.

Potato dish of some kind, cheesy potatoes are good with ham. Rolls and/or garlic bread too, garlic bread for the lasagne, rolls for the ham.

Wanted to thank everyone for the cheesy potato recommendation. Having never heard of cheesy potatoes, I googled it and found many recipes all pretty much the same using shredded hasbrowns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, onion & cheddar cheese. Made the lowest fat version of it I could buy.

EVERYONE loved it & no one else had ever heard of it or had anything like it before. Today, I need to mail out the recipe to everyone who asked for.

:thumbsup2
And loved the fact that I could prepare it the night before & just pop it in oven for 1 hr before it was time to eat.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Its a keeper!

Too funny - I thought everyone knew about cheesy potatoes - maybe it's a Midwest thing? It's a mainstay for our family pot lucks and special occasions (birthday dinners generally revolve around king crab, cheesy 'taters and salad.). But they go well with ham, pork chops, even a brunch buffet.

Decided to make them last weekend at the last minute and found only onion Tator Tots in the freezer (DH does most the grocery shopping and guess he was "inspired" that day). Surprised to say we liked the change - had more of a "potato" flavor that was reminiscent of loaded baked potatoes - not to mention it went together even faster by skipping the onion chopping step.

They also freeze beautifully (I dabbled at OAMC for awhile).
