Will be visiting for a few days (first time) midweek, last week of August. Some poor planning on my part. Didn't realize no Fantasmic midweek and had planned on splurging with Disney Reward dollars for the Dessert package. Have about $500 to splurge (staying offsite, so no help with hotel). We're a family of 6 (4 kids aged 3-13), so not looking to go too formal with a meal. Will the Downtown Disney restaurants/stores all accept reward dollars? Your ideas on helping me spend the rewards are welcome!!!

You won't be able to use it in the DTD restaurants. It will work very much like a gift card.

Big Thunder BBQ seems like a good place to take a family for informal meals, and it would put you back $100+ (depending on kids' ages). All you can eat. Would you prefer Ariel's Grotto dinner to get WOC PD standing area?
Are there any special souvenirs the kids couldn't normally get? An experience at one of the makeover places like BBB?

We had a $200 Reward Card in June. We used all the money on meals. My DS's were both under 2 so they were free for character meals so we did 1 character meal and then just used the card anytime we wanted to eat in the park. You can use the card for counter service and even a few of the carts. Having that $200 really helped with our vacation spending.

Character meals?

The restaurants and many of the shops in DTD are independently-own that lease DTD real estate. They are not equipped to handle gift cards or reward dollars.
