We will be going to Disneyworld for the 1st time the beginning of May. We have 2 little boys, ages 4 (will celebrate birthday there!) and 6. We are sticking to the 4 major parks, MK, Epcot, HS, & AK this trip. We have a 7 day park-hopper pass. The only thing we have planned out is our birthday celebration dinner at Chef Mickey's. (ADRs). We are also on the dinner plan and are staying at All Star Sports. We will be driving.
Any suggestions? Must-sees? My boys are really into Star Wars right now, but I believe that parade that has the characters from S.W. doesn't go on anymore, right? Any tips you have that would help me plan a great trip would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

Have a blast!!!!

- In the MK, avoid Stitch's Great Escape unless your kids are a whole lot braver than mine!!! My girls were terrified last year. (My own fault-- they do post warnings!) Also, think twice about Fantasmic for the same reason; my husband had to take the girls out. (lucily, he had seen it 2 months prior on the Senior Trip :) )

-SInce you're on the dining plan, make those ADR's!!! We loved the Coral Reef in Epcot. The Cinderella dinner at 1900 Park Fare was a riot!

- Learn how to utilize Fastpass. It's a free service that can make your trip! Basicially, it lets you get a ticket to come back within a time frame later in the day, and cuts the line by a LOT!!!

- GET TO THE PARKS AT ROPE DROP EACH MORNING!!!!! You'll do more in those first 2 hours than all the rest of the day.

- Be willing to sacrifice any ride or attraction or ADR if it will keep your kids (or either of the adults) from getting cranky.

Have a wonderful trip!

Congrats on planning your first trip!! How exciting! My boys are the same ages as yours. We went in april and october of last year (see my trip report for details and pictures). They loved meeting characters and character meals, so plan as many as you can. My boys are into Indy Jones, Star Wars, Spiderman, POTC, Power Rangers. Their favorite parks are MK and DHS. Some things they loved:

MK - Buzz ride, POTC, barnstormer, peter pan, pooh, philharmagic, jungle cruise, pirate tutorial
DHS - indy show, star tours, jedi training academy, TSM, meeting power rangers/Buzz/Woody/incredibles/little einsteins
AK - lion king show, safari, boneyard,
Epcot - test track, soarin, character spot

Since my boys are up early, we got to early EMHs, especially at MK, and make rope drop every day. I like making an 8am breakfast at the park when the park opens at 9am (CP at MK, Tusker at AK, H&V at DHS). We head back to hotel for naps at 1:30. Return to parks for dinner and evening touring. I rented a double stroller from OrlandoStrollerRentals.com - it was fabulous. Make time for swimming. Have a great time planning!

My boys are similar ages. Our favorite parks were MK and DHS too. My boys were most excited about jedi training and star tours. They also had a blast at playhouse disney. But by far, the thing they loved the best was meeting the characters! They just loved meeting and hugging them. Make sure to leave room in your schedule to wait in lines to do that.

If you remember to go at their pace you will have a blast. We also left for naps but left around noon. If we left later ds3 would fall asleep on the bus and that would be the end of that nap time. But I do reccomend taking a mid-day break. It was refreshing for us all!

Have a great time!!

My boys are also 4 and 6 and we are going to WDW for the first time in August.

Our plan is to be there at park opening, stay through lunch, then back to the hotel for swimming and naps. Return to park for dinner and a few more attractions. Some tips I've picked up here:

Check little ones feet since they may not tell you they are getting a blister. Carry bandaids with you.

Bring water and snacks in with you.

Take a break when they need to.

Take a day or just a morning "off" from the parks and let them just swim at the resort.

There's more...when I remember I'll come back and edit:goodvibes

Congratulations!on your first trip! I also have two boys, their first trip they were 4 and 10. I thought the park hopping was too much for my kids so we have only done that once.

I always do Tinker treasures, little gifts Tinker belle leaves on the table, surrounded by glitter, each night. I try to coralate them with the park we are going to. Tink will leave new toothbrushes, shirts, candy for in the parks, small toys, bubbles, stuffed animals ect.

When we take a long road trip I make up a bunch of small bags for my boys. They usually consist of things like a small snack like one bag of fruit snacks, (or I will make up small bags of snacks with celo bags found near candy making supplies topped with ribbon) a small toy some times like a car. or small figure. I will also add a juice box. I try to make it like a fun gift bag from a party. and give them every hour or soo. obviously lots of fun games for the road maybe Disney related.
Some times Tink will leave something before we leave.

The Creative Dis has lots of designs for shirts and candy wrappers to add a little more magic.

Also you can get a wake up call from Stich in the morning-my boys have NEVER heard it when I push the intercom-they are always that tired.
I video taped me answering the phone on speaker so they could see when we got home.

The Board walk has entertainment around dinner time, jugglers and face painters Lots of fun!

The Beaches and Cream resturaunt has an ice cream called the kitchen sink in a kitchen sink (we have yet to make it over to get one, maybe next time.)
The water parks are a great way to spend a day lots of fun family time!

Thats all for now if I think of more Ill post more have a great trip!:goodvibes
