Help me pick a time to go

This will be our first trip to Japan. We will go to Disney last on our trip. I can’t decide when to go. This is for next year. I would like to see the 35th anniversary but if it’s cold and crowded I would be willing to do May.

March: way too crowded
May: perfect time to go

May is my vote, like the pp said, make sure it's after golden week. The Easter celebrations will probably still be going on which is lots of fun.

That’s great to know. Thanks so much! Dh is really happy that we are going for his birthday. He’s been talking about learning Japanese. I’ve never seen him so invested in a trip before.

We are planning on arriving the week after May 12 so maybe that Sunday. We’ll have to time it right so we are at Disney during the week. Is all of japan busy during golden week or just Disney?

I didn’t know easter would still be going on so that’s cool!

The second and third week are usually the best in May crowd wise. Smart to go during the week, beware that Monday's can still be a bit busy, even busier than Fridays.
Yes generally most of Japan is busier during golden week. People are out and about enjoying their time off.
