Hi , is there any advantage to buy a third resort ? How do you manage all the points ? I own at BLT and BCV . Two UY , thinking of buying CCV with one of my two UY . I will travel at wdw every other year. Would like to know how people use their 3 home resort points . Thanks

I have 8 resorts, we use them all in the priority booking window as we are able to plan ahead for our trips. The most points I own is at one resort is 285. We go to WDW for long weekends about 8 times a year so based on the time of year we book at particular resorts (bwv for food and wine, VGF for 4th of July, AKV for Labor Day weekend). We also have a small VGC that we use exclusively there every 2-3 years, prior to COVID I’d never used them anywhere else but with the extended closure I had some banked that were going to expire after two canceled trips there. If we only went for big week long trips our points all the resorts wouldn’t work as well as we’d have to move around a lot if I booked big rooms if I only booked at the 11month window and didn’t try to switch to one place at the 7 month mark. We just doubled the amount of points we own so I haven’t gotten into the flow of using them yet but we want 2 bedrooms going forward for the extra space for our 3 kids who are now teenagers.

As for DVC, we own only SSR ... but also have two other timeshare products.

If I were to own a second or third DVC location it would be for geographical diversity. I've long regretted NOT completing a VGC resale contract we started just before the first round of restrictions kicked in. It was a different UY than our SSR but, looking back, would have perfectly met our DLR travel window which is vastly different than our WDW travel window.

As for the other timeshare products, our 1st and favorite timeshare is a points system with 70+ locations, many a short drive from our home. We use this system at least 6x/year for short stays, weekends, celebrations, etc. We've also used this system to string together longer road trips along the Pacific Coast or National Parks.

The remaining timeshare satisfies two goals: day use at the resort and RCI trader.

In the past, we owned two additional timeshare products, both of which dissolved and were closed/sold as they aged. Of these, day use was the main consideration of one and "cheap, cheap, RCI trader" was the primary draw for the other. I miss both of them ... but especially the day use one.

I own 7 home resorts - BRV, CCV, AKV, RIV, SSR, HHI, and VGC. All are in the same UY, except for VGC. Primary reason is for the 11 month booking window, which really is needed for VGC, BRV/CCV Studios, AKV Value & Concierge, RIV Standard Studios, and HHI during Late Spring-Fall. We picked up SSR for SAP but also Treehouse priority for major holidays. Secondary reason was to own at the places we love, especially the Peter Dominick trifecta of Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Grand Californian. Third reason is to combine points at 7 months to upgrade to 1 or 2 bedrooms, or the GV when doing big family trips.

For one single every other year trip?

Are you split staying every trip?

What type of rooms would you be booking? Are you okay with split stays? I would just think about why you want a third resort.

Not sure I would prioritize CCV since you already own at BLT. However if you want to book studios at CCV then I think you need to own there.

We only have two resorts, but they are the same use year. This makes 7 month bookings easy. However many of our longer trips start off as split stays just because of how the point work out. I suppose with banking and alternating years you might be able to avoid split stays, but I think having three would make this more complicated than two if you are not traveling often.

I have two UYs and three resorts.

Most of my points are in October, so I had to bank them all for next year already. But I still have points from the other contract I can shift around for summer, which I think is a cool advantage of two UYs. I'm still on the fence about summer, so I like that I didn't have to borrow points or lock them in past banking date.

At one point or another, I've used priority on my resorts, well, except SSR.

If you're buying CCV for SAP value, I might think about paying a hair more for BLT, just because it is a lot easier to combine the contracts if you are using BLT priority. I also think BLT is a better long term purchase because of superior location, and it's hard to argue with that chart on the monorail.

I have 3 resorts but all the same uy. I bought different resorts to get 11 month priority for hard to book times. It’s not hard for me to manage points since all same uy so all can be lump together at 7 months. Everyone’s situation is slightly different. You said CCV so the advantage of buying there would be to give you 11 month priority for studios. If that’s not what you want and all you want is more points then I agree with above to just get more of same resorts and same uy to make your bookings and life easier.

@gisele2 already has BLT. She got it for an AMAZING price during the No ROFR Summer of 2020. If I recall correctly, she paid only $100/point! :scared1:

Right, that's what I mean. If her SAP is already BLT, it might be worth matching it. The convenience might be worth a few bucks over the CCV contracts, which do look like slightly better for SAP right now.

Thank you all , I think RoseGold nailed it, BLT is better than CCV for the location. I wanted CCV because I fantiasized about having all my family in a 3 bedroom.

I will travel with my points and then see if I still want more points or not . You just saved me 25 000 $ !

If they aren't the same resort and same UY, they cannot be combined until seven months out. A small number of CCV points may be a disappointment if you are planning on booking studios. Unless you plan to bank and borrow. If they aren't the same UY, you need to transfer from one membership to the other to combine them at seven months out unless they are same resort.

Arghh!!! the contract is there again .... addonitis and the deal chaser in me are really hard to chase away. And with the exchange rate better than in the last 3 years....:worship: hope to have the strength to resist...

I mean, if you need points.... :surfweb:

But if you don't actually need them, maybe hold off. Your points do refresh annually.
