We are going to Disney in August. It will be myself, DH, DD (5) and my mom. We are doing reservations at Sci-fi Dine in theater (one of our favs) but I am trying to decide what our other reservation should be. I have it narrowed down to Beaches and Cream or Chef Mickeys. I know these are two completely different experiences, but which one would be overall best in terms of price, value, atmosphere?

I have not been to Chef Mickeys but it gets horrible reviews. I think many believe the value is very poor.

Beaches and Cream has decent comfort food and of course the fun ice cream dishes.

The Contemporary is relatively easy to get to, especially if you're there on an MK day. The Boardwalk area, if you're not staying there, is going to require a bus/boat, depending on where you're coming from. So it's a little out of the way. I really like the Boardwalk vibe, and you could combine your meal here with some time checking this area out.

So I'd vote for Beaches and Cream. Note that it's very small and so getting a reservation can be hard.

So Chef Mickey needs to go back to cooking school.... the ONLY reason I have an ADR there is because it's a character event.

I did CM for breakfast, and didnt care for it. The food, the mess, the napkin waving. OMG. Its great for little kids. But once was enough. I'd go for Beaches & Cream.

If you want a character meal, you should consider Cape May breakfast (characters are here only for breakfast). Its a beautiful little restaurant. The food at breakfast is delicious, and the characters are cute in their beach wear. Characters are Minnie, Goofy, and Donald.

I had a very bad experience at cm 3.5 years ago. Could be different. I’d go beaches and cream.

The only reason to go to Chef Mickeys is as everyone says the characters. By going there you can save 1-3 hours of line sitting to meet the same 5 characters. If you have park hoppers Tusker House and Garden Grill are much better. I cannot comment on Cape May because it is the only character meal we have never done (even for breakfast my daughter heard it was a seafood place and refuses to go).

Not sure if I would eat at CM again even if it was significantly cheaper. There are much better character meals on property than CM. I will say though I have never been to Beaches and Cream either as it just doesn't appeal to me for a meal and of course it is a bit out of the way unless you are staying in an Epcot area resort.

Not crazy about either one, but if I had to choose one of these, then I'd go with Beaches and Cream.

Thanks everyone. I think we will go with Beaches and Cream. I've heard it's not too far from Epcot, so we may do it the day we go to Epcot.
