Good luck! For my DH to stay off site the entire trip would have to be free. He loves the convience of staying on-site, he grumbles about staying off site the first night we get there, and having to change hotels in the morning.
The only way I get him to do it is pack a seperate bag for the first night, and remind him the entire time we barely eat enough of the meals and snack credits on our plan without adding a whole other day to it

If you don't mind staying on-site, then just do that. Maybe compromise and stay in a less expensive Disney hotel. With the a few of moderates having queen beds it's not that bad. It's his vacation too, and not worth an arguement/debate. All aspects of vacation should be fun, including the planning. Helps build the excitement, IMHO, for Disney Magic!
