DH and I (50ish) are headed to WDW for an adult only trip in June. We are staying onsite at VWL and I want to do WDW restaurants. One of us ,(DH), is not a Disney person (fanatic):confused3 . He feels the offsite restaurants give you better food for less money:confused3 . Help me narrow down our choices. These are the restaurants we are considering and we haven't been to any of them yet.

Breakfast: Chef Mickey, Tusker House and Boma (are CM and TH worth the summer surcharge?)

Lunch: Grand Floridian, 50s Prime Time, LeCellier, Tutto Italia.

Dinner: Cape May Buffet (we are not seafood lovers), Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Spoodles, LeCellier, Tutto Italia.

We are not on the dining plan. Which ones should we cut out and why? I probably need to cut out at least one breakfast, two dinners and one lunch.

Thanks for your help. Debby

Breakfast: Chef Mickey, Tusker House and Boma (are CM and TH worth the summer surcharge?) We've only done Chef Mickey's out of this group (Crystal Palace is our favorite); we are trying Boma in September.

Lunch: Grand Floridian, 50s Prime Time, LeCellier, Tutto Italia. We love LeCellier--it is our must do every trip. Never done GF or TI, but have done 50's Prime Time in the past--don't think your DH would like this one

Dinner: Cape May Buffet (we are not seafood lovers), Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Spoodles, LeCellier, Tutto Italia. We did Cape May Buffet--there is NOT a lot of seafood--so no worries there; we loved it the first time and found it "so-so" the second time; we wre doing Ohanas for the first time this year; Whiserping Canyon Cafe is a total YUK in our book after our visit in September and we won't go back unless we try breakfast sometime (if you husband doesn't like Disney, don't think he'd care for the antics if they are going on--actually, when we were there, very few on the antics went on); We are doing Spoodles this year after reading great reviews; LeCellier and Tutto same as said before

Our comments are in red above. We are two adults that travel alone as well (boys are in college). We are 56 and 51 (DH being the older!). Luckily, I have a Disney Fanatic DH--he's craizer about it than me. May I make a suggestion. For one of the lunches I would try the Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. It is a change of pace from all the heavy meals that we eat at the other restaurants during our stay. We love their sandwiches and shakes and their desserts...well, let's just say: :worship:

DBF and I are in your age category. If it were me I'd cut the following:
Breakfast: Chef Mickeys (we love the characters in the parks but don't need to see them during meals. I haven't heard that the food there is exceptional either.
Lunch: Probably 50's Prime Time, this one is hard. Maybe it should depend on where you plan to be on that day. We love Grand Floridian for lunch. In our opinion their Cobb Salad is better than the Brown Derby.
Dinner: We'd eliminate Whispering Canyon, reviews indicate that it can be noisy and that the food isn't that great, but if you're really not seafood eaters you might want to consider eliminating Cape May.

Good luck with your decision and have a great time!

We also love the Plaza. I always get a reuben (very tender) and a shake, both are wonderful. Like Kathy said, it's a nice, lighter meal...:goodvibes

I just did Chef Mickeys breakfast yesterday, tons of close up buffet pics in my signature. It was awesome!

Grand Floridian Cafe lunch looks wonderful and relaxing

Cape May is another one of our favorites for dinner...but I would go for Tutto dinner instead

you hubby is right in some cases :) (hate when that happens lol)

For an adult only time, I would skip CM. It will be filled with kids and not adult oriented. If you like that, then have a great time :) (and i mean that in a non-snarky manner  )

We do adult only and skip some places that I know I won't like. Napkin twirling on demand is not my idea of breakfast fun

you may find Boma and Tusker House very similar in nature.

Nice lunch choices - check out the menus though, Tutto Italia is very pricey (IMHO) for what it is. It is not on our list of places to go

I would cut 'ohana - service has been flat out horrible for us and the reports I see are very hit or miss still

Le Cellier - for just a little more you can go to Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club and have a much better experience. I find Le Cellier to be very crowded tablewise and while the mushroom filet is excellant, not a fan of the place

I don't know if I would do Cape May if I didn't like seafood. My DH doesn't like it, but I do. There is plenty for him, but we go mainly for me :)

It is a job to plan a Disney trip isn't it? Good luck and let us know what you decide.
