Help Lice!!! We leave for Disney tomorrow!!

I don't think you wasted your time. I'm glad you came back to set things straight!

me too and I'm glad you had a good time. From someone who's gone through lice several times...I know it can be a pain but it's not the end of the world and not a reason to cancel a trip if you take the right precautions, which sounds like you did.

Welcome home!

I owe you an apology. I was a little harsh and know it. I'm glad you had a good time or hope you did anyway. It must have been one big pain in the rear to have had to worry about during your vacation. Again, I'm sorry about my bad attitude.

OP, I am glad you came back and updated us on this thread -- that took some guts.

One question, since it seems you were quite thorough in your careful treatment, even in WDW. You still let the resort know that you had recently had lice in your household, right? They would hopefully then do their part in following up, like changing the comforters before schedule and doing a THOROUGH vacuum job (that is not always done normally, ya know?)

Thanks again for the update! Sounds like your trip was wonderful!

Beth

The first night I found 1 DEAD nit and that was all I found the rest of the trip.
I just wanted to re-suggest that you comb her hair like I mentioned in post #282. I too only found a couple of dead lice when I combed the first time and none thereafter. I thought I had them licked. When I noticed that my DD was itching again weeks later I did another Rid application and two days later I found literally 2-3 dozen live lice using the conditioner method. The conditioner traps them so they can't scuttle away in the hair.

Good luck! We're combing again tomorrow!

Well I'm finally to the end of this thread. We had a wonderful vacation--got 3 dreams from the dream team--and it only rained 1 day! Spending an hour every night combing through hair kind of stressed me out, but it was still a good trip. Sorry some of you had to get so nasty. Thanks to those that stood up for me while I couldn't. I love the DIS and missed it while I was gone. I don't know why I wasted my time responding to some of the posts but I had to defend myself.

I'm happy to see you had a good trip. :cool1:
although sorry you had to come home to see this thread.
You didn't deserve it, especially when you weren't even here.

Power to you for you coming back and defending yourself. :flower3:

I think I'm going to bring her to eithier the pediatrician today or the health dept. to double check that its gone, it's been 10 days since the treatment today. Your posts have me worried!!

Yes they know to clean the room. But I don't think it will get done properly. The corners of the bathroom were GROSS-who knows what it looks like under the beds- But I was too tired to complain.

Thanks for the apology. I really should have known not to post about it but I was so freaked out!

Good for you for apologizing. I was wondering if anyone would. Based on some of the posts, there should be quite a few apologies on here. We'll see if any others can do as you did.

Everyone lays on comforters in a hotel room. Not intentionally, but I know that kids come in, flop on the bed, etc. Why doesn't everyone call housekeeping upon check in and insist that the comforters are changed at that time. It is ridiculous that they aren't changed anyway.

I agree with you. We checked into the Yacht Club one year and there were dirty towels on the bathroom floor.

OP, I am glad you returned to post. I was one that was a 'little' hard on you. As a teacher, those things (lice) can be a pest. I am glad you took the proper precautions with your daughter. What hotel did you stay in? Did you specifically tell the hotel that your daughter had lice and the room needed a real cleaning, not just a 'brush' over? You wrote that they know to clean the room, but where you specific to why they should properly clean it? Particularly before they checked someone else in that room. Thanks.

WOW! Aren't you being a BIT INTRUSIVE?? :confused3 She said that she told them to clean the room. Do you want the room number too? Do you really need to know more?

As much information as possible. I was NOT the only one that has asked that question. The OP has yet to answer these questions. That's why it was asked - AGAIN. The OP put her business out on these boards. I just asked a sensible question. Her answer was vague. She was so specific on her daily lice treatments with her daughter and so vague on informing Disney about lice in a room. She didn't say that she TOLD THEM why to clean the room, she said, "YEAH, they know to clean it". And you can roll your eyes all day long, if that makes YOU feel good, but I'd like to see how pleased you'd be coming behind a family who choose NOT to offer that information to whatever hotel they stayed in. How happy would you be with that - inconvenience?

The OP has been asked SEVERAL times in what hotel she stayed. It hasn’t been answered yet. I'm not saying the OP didn't tell Disney, but it’s not an intrusive question if the OP placed her business on a VERY PUBLIC forum. ASKING FOR ADVICE. Some of the things that she was advised to do was to tell the hotel. She asked, we gave. Especially on a forum with individuals who happen to have a love for that place we call Disney. You wouldn't want Disney to have a reputation of spreading lice? I'm sure you care about Disney too. To be honest, my concerns are about others, as a matter of fact, it’s highly unlikely, probable but unlikely, that I will get lice. You can now roll your eyes. :) I hope your day is brighter.

The OP did ask for advice; she got advice and then some! She has been assailed in so many words for being a bad mother, a selfish mother, a selfish traveler, a selfish guest, etc, etc. AD NAUSEUM. I am guessing that she asked here because she was comfortable here, I don't know, I have never exchanged any words with her. I am guessing from some of the responses that she shouldn't have been comfortable here. The bottom line in all of this, and it is going to be hard for you to take, is how she resolved it, where she stayed, what she did, what she said, how she said it and to whom is ABSOLUTELY NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. If getting lice in WDW or anywhere else is so concerning to you, consult your dog's vet. Maybe Sentinal might work. At least you won't get fleas!

When people don't want individuals in their business they don't blast their info on the WWW. They keep it to themselves. Oh, I don't have dog. Maybe you have a flea issue, but not me ;) Do you need to consult your dogs vet?

Nope, we are all set. Jude takes Sentinal and we use Advantix. ;) Edited to add, just because people ask for advice and put stuff out on the WWW, it isn't an all or nothing proposition. It doesn't entitle anyone to all or any information and I think it is rude to keep asking.
