Help Lice!!! We leave for Disney tomorrow!!

As much information as possible. I was NOT the only one that has asked that question. The OP has yet to answer these questions. That's why it was asked - AGAIN.
I'm just curious what good that information would be to you. How will if effect your life and your vacation? Do you plan to call the resort top make sure the room was cleaned correctly? Do you plan on changing resorts if it's the one you have reservations at? Do you plan on starting a new thread with a big warning? Why is this information important to you? I just don't get it.

When did asking a question solidify its importance to the poster? In a thread questions are asked and answers are given - daily. It doesn't 'show' its importance one-way or another. I'm curious. If one was apart of thread that asked a question, you answer, you kind of what to see it through. It doesn't weigh heavy or light in my life. I wouldn’t remember next week if this thread closed today. I only remembered it today, because of the email. Again, its highly unlikely, I'll ever get lice (probable) but unlikely. This is not an immediate concern for ME or MY FAMILY. But it might be for others. The question IMO, shouldn’t be why do I care; the question should be for those who might visit soon, why don't YOU care. But if its going to be a minute before you visit Disney, being concerned about others right now is just silly - hey.

To answer your question directly. A good answer is a honest clear one. Period. The kind that doesn't need a question after it. Everything is clear.

You know, I have read numerous posts on these boards about people coming home from Disney w/lice and being so v. upset about it and the hassles that come w/trying to get rid of the lice. Loads of info. on how to prevent lice while at WDW has been listed as well (ie: make sure hair has gel or spray b/c lice don't like dirty hair; don't randomly try hats on in the stores, use tea tree shampoo while on vaca., etc.) So, it's v. understandable why people are upset when other people knowingly bring their lice problems to WDW.

Now, I know that the OP did the whole lice treatment and didn't have any live lice when she traveled ... and I'm going to give the OP the benefit of the doubt that she was telling the truth, took care of the problem before and while on vaca., (hopefully) did not leave any live buggers in her room and did properly notify housekeeping of the lice issue and didn't just blow it off as "make sure the room is cleaned well" only.

B/c lice are such a hassle, I can totally understand why everyone is up in arms about this.

If someone puts their "junk" out there, why can't other people can ask questions about it? If the OP doesn't want to answer, she doesn't have to. Even w/o the lice problem, the OP said the room wasn't clean when they got there. Knowing that room (and maybe others at that resort) aren't kept v. tidy, I'm not going to want to go to a resort where the cleaning is below par. I don't want to have to keep calling mousekeeping b/c the room wasn't cleaned properly (lice issue aside)! If I am spending good money on a room, I expect it to be sparkling clean!

They can, but then people can question the questioners too. Are the questions just to be mean and make the OP feel bad or are they truly concerned? That's all fair game too when one posts on a public board like this.

You're right. I ask a lot of questions that are not really particularly important to me. Like the one I just asked you, LOL! However, since your question seems to be simply idle curiosity, I wonder why you continue to push at it. I have no problem with you asking the question, but I do think there is a line between asking and harassment ("harass" is really too strong of a word, but I can't come up with a better one right now).

Obviously the OP doesn't wish to answer it and she entitled to her privacy. Just because she started a thread (and put her "junk" out on the DIS) doesn't mean that she is required to answer everyone's every question to their satisfaction :teacher:. Just my opinion.

Yep - I think we're in agreement there. (bolding mine)

If you read the reviews, you'll find that people have gotten unclean rooms at pretty much every Disney resort. I think it's something that is going to happen at any hotel you visit Disney or not. My Father worked in the hotel industry and we were talking about it. He was thinking that with all the hotels in Orlando, it is probably hard to find good help sometimes. People know if they are fired, there are plenty of other places to find work.

We've been to WDW and stayed in the resorts so many times and I've yet to have a room that hasn't been in tip-top condition. Maybe I've been luckier than others?

We've never had a probelm either. And we've only stayed in values and a moderate. I think it's pretty rare to have a really dirty room, but I've seen complaints of it even at the Poly.

You've been lucky, I think! I had a really bad room a few years ago at PORS. It was so bad when they can to fix some of the stuff that night, they insisted on moving us (to the mansions, which I had requested and was told there is nothing available, LOL) Anyway, the room actually looked like no one had been in it for quite some time. I was heartsick because we were spending more money that we would have at a value and this room was so bad!:sad2: However, when they moved us over to the new room, it was very nice.

I still think S/D housekeeping beats Disney mousekeeping. I am not sure why but I have never had a problem at S/D.

And of course, the more trips you do to WDW, the more those chances rise of seeing dirty rooms, broken "stuff"--like safe, blinds, etc.

Harass is a really strong word and way off. I asked questions from ONE post since the return of the OP. ONE. How could that possibly fall in the lines of harassment or anything remotely close to it? What you have read (from today) is myself and another poster, not the OP 'chatting' about my post. ONE post from me is nowhere in the ballpark of harassment. And you are correct, she does NOT have to answer my questions, and can choose whose questions she wants to answer. At the same time, if the OP picks and chooses which questions to answer, she then can’t get upset because the questions she refuses to answer, are assumed - this includes her defenders (the OP hasn’t responded at all, so I don’t know how she feels). Like one can assume that if the OP chooses not to answer if she told housekeeping (or the powers that be) that her daughter had lice while staying in Disney, then I can presume that she didn't and is irresponsible. Now, if the OP did the responsible thing, good for her. I am humble enough to apologize for making an assumption. As of now, the OP hasn't answered so I can only assume. If the OP refuses to answer the question directly, I am entitled my assumption, just like she is entitled to answer whatever question she wants to and refuse whatever question she feels worth ignoring.

I am no more harassing the OP than you are harassing me. As a matter of fact, you've asked me more questions than I asked the OP (in more post), so if you feel like I'm harassing her, maybe you need to take a look at the one in the mirror. Just maybe you are harassing me.

Living in a FREE country is great - don't ya think!!!:thumbsup2

Although I've always had a clean room and great mousekeeping service, I have had things broken or not working.

One visit at the Contemporary Tower. The safe key wouldn't come out and the alarm clock was broken. :( So disappointing.

Because you didn't get an answer, doesn't mean you can assume anything. If I ask you if you cheated on your income taxes and you were sufficiently offended by the question, can I assume that you did and report you to the IRS?

If you want to assume that - who cares. FTR, I didn't cheat on my taxes and I have no problem telling you that. Why would that offend me? Seriously, we are on a discussion board. If the OP did state that she didn't tell Disney, what could I do? Call Disney and say hay, some lady name 720L from the disboards stayed in your hotel and her kid had lice. Again, keep deflecting the issue, but the question shouldn't be why I want to know, the question should be, why doesn't she want to tell. None of my business - okay - but maybe my assumption about the OP is true. The OP invited us in her world when she posted her business on a Disney discussion board. A discussion board made for people who love Disney. Why don't you want to know?

Because knowing or not knowing will not change my life or anyone elses and most importantly, IT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS. :)
