Help!! I'm a tightwad and I'm going to WDW!

One thing you could do is call CRO now, before you leave, and you can over-pay your reservation and anything 'over' can be used for charging priviledges on your room key!:sunny: You wouldn't need to have you debit card on file or carry it into the park with you. ::yes::

If you plan on taking a trip in the future, tell family to give you disney dollars instead of gifts. My dad does it for my whole family. I finally made him realize that there is a 99% chance that I am not going to remember what someone got me for my birthday one year later. However, ask me about any trip we've taken to Disney, and I can give specific details! :p They say "You can't take it with you". Memories, I believe, you can! :teeth:

Have a fantastic trip!! :bounce:

I am the one who made the above post (PA Tigger is my DD). She has not been on the computer today, but I have been on the DIS numerous times. Why in the world did it log me out and log her in????

Thanks all! My DH echoed your words last night. I am feeling better about it.

I feel your pain. But it will be worth it. As long as you can pay your bills etc., a vacation is definately worth it.

GO GO GO!

I watched my mom scrimp and save her whole life only to put the money away and never use it.

She died in Feb and had very few memories at the end of her life to look back on.

The money did nothing for her except sit in the bank. and while that may be a good thing for security, its not a good thing for your soul. She had more than enough money to have really gone out and enjoyed herself a few times (well way more than a few but with her that would have been a lot!)

We went to Europe when I was a teen and the whole trip all she did was worry about how much the hotel cost and how much the food cost.... so now my memory of that trip was filled with her making us drag our suitcases from one hotel to another to try to save a few bucks or telling me I couldnt order THAT from the menu because it cost too much.

When all is said and done, the memories and happy times you share with your daughter will mean so much.

Life is here to enjoy! Dont be like my mom and die without experiencing it!

Oh boy do you sound like me!,ahaha Trust me, just press that transfer button, sit back and relax. If that's what the money is for than use it! You won't regret it, we went all out on our last trip, it's money I had saved for a long time and we had a great time. Enjoy your trip!

Good for you! It is nice to see that you are going to have a mother/daughter vacation. You will have many wonderful memories!

Have fun!

I'm pretty frugal too and am always budgeting because we take about 4 vacations a year. I work pretty hard and have a lot of vacation time after all my years for my company and I recognize vacations are a value to me. I'd be nuts if I didn't have a vacation to look forward to or plan.

I use all of my mystery shopping, surveys, mileage reimbursement checks to stash away for vacations. Heck, I'm so frugal all of my free samples usually are the only personal items I need to pack.

If I were you, I couldn't stand the thought of missing out on POINTS by not using a credit card. I pay my balances off ALL the time and use my points for: free airfare (several times), free Disney tickets from Marriott Rewards, free Disney dollars for trips/cruise, free online service etc. AHHHH I want my points!

This doesn't even COVER the gc I get from my points, etc to EAT while I am on vacation. And while I am taking a break from ebaying, I've used my ebay paypal funds to purchase food vouchers to pre-pay meals for Disney.

Just do it! Hit that button, get points on a card, but remember time is money and you buying the BEST TIMES OF YOUR LIFE!

You deserve it!

Just wondered how you and your DD's trip went. Did you have trouble spending that money?:D or did you think it was worth it?

It was sooo worth it. I only went $2 over budget so I didn't come home with any regrets. I am looking forward to going again.

I want to let you know that it is all right to let go and spend the money on the vacation.
I have a friend that was putting off going to WDW with her kids because of the money (she prides herself on being a tightwad. as do I). Her son died this year very suddenly at the age of 14, never having gone to disney and never making the family memories that we all love and cherish that are made at disney. I encourage you to be a tightwad, I believe it is best to live within your own means but always remember that life is but for a fleeting moment and should also be enjoyed to the fullest.

A wise man once told me " You can't buy memories"!

You may feel a little bad about it when you return but just pull out your pictures and relive it!

Have a great time,

Edited to add::: Just noticed you came & went!!!! So glad you had a great time and will return. Soon enough, you'll be just like the rest of us!

I'm also "thrifty", and usually have pre-Disney vacation anxiety. Yes we could take two vacations for what we spend in one week, but we always have a blast and I've never regretted one of our five trips as a family. I think my best memories of growing up were going on vacations. DH never had that opportunity and he wants to make memories for our kids.

How heartbreaking, if that doesn't convince you, nothing will.

Skipping to end, but go and have fun. She won't be home forever and you need to make the most of your time with her now! They grow up too fast!

So glad to hear your trip went well.
