I called MS before the DVC temporary card expired on 1/21. They said they will expedite mailing of the plastic one. Our Disneyland trip is on 2/14, do we need to present the card to get dining discounts and will they accept the temporary paper even though the expiration date is 1/21?

Take your temp card that's expired and you should be fine. Email DVC also and get confirmation of membership by return email and print it out.

They were very particular about it when we purchased Disneyland tickets with a DVC discount there before. Not sure about the dining discounts. Can't you pickup a new temporary membership card at the DVC office there?

We were in DLR last July with a temporary card and at least half the time when we used it for dining discounts they had no idea what it was. I told them, but they still looked at me a bit crazy. They would check with a manager and it ended up not be a problem. However as CarolAnnC said when buying tickets it might be more of an issue with an expired temporary card. To try and make things easier checking to see if you can pick up a new one with an updated date may be a good idea. Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

I've forgotten my card before, and you can get a new one (plastic) at SSR. They'll make it for you right away.

:goodvibes

Does anybody who has bought from California know if like SSR there's a location to get a card printed on the spot? This may help the Op out if she knows she can just go to a location there to get a card quickly printed.

There is a preview center behind the Disneyland Hotel. They should be able to print a card there.

I believe your "key to the world card" or "Door" Card will say "DVC MEMBER" on it. If it doesn't then somewhere in the numbers there is a code that tells the person if you are a member or not.

we stayed at grand california villas and you are right, our room key said "dvc member" on it like florida ones do, and that was all we used for dvc discounts. I don't think I ever used my member card. Your mileage may vary.

When I bought my DS4s AP last year my membership card was up in the room but I had my room key and Phone on me so I read her my membership number from my email and she gave us the DVC discount on it. Then for dining we mostly used the AP or Dvisa disc anyways. But if you really want a card go to the DVC sales office by DLH and they would prolly print one for you...

Lately cards have not been saying DVC Member since the last computer update @ WDW, don't know what California cards say or don't say since the last upgrade.

I would think you could print your profile page on the member services website and bring it with you. It shows your name and your membership number, so I think they would accept that.

Can't remember the last time I needed that card.
More and more you need proof of membership beyond a KTTW card that reads DVC member on it. Things like the pass discounts esp and before valet was removed, you almost always needed the blue card. Even restaurant discounts are asking for it at times.

I was wondering if the blue cards ever get replaced, and if they don't, why they put an expiration date on it? We're members since 3/2000 and my card says on the back "Valid through 10/31/2002". I notified MS once about it, and they said they would send me a sticker with a new date to put on the expiration date, but I never received that. Never had any problems using it though. So according to what I read here, you can just ask for a new card? at the resort?

We got the card the night before our trip, talk about timing. I called MS though and they told me I could get one at DVC sales office.

The card we received didn't have an expiration and our room key also said DVC member including keys of our guests who are not members. I needed to show DVC member card to get discounts & to purchase DVC items

Just back from OKW. I didn't take my card because the KWC has always said "DVC Member" or something similar and was good for all discounts.

After checking in and having lunch at Olivia's, they told me I couldn't get the usual discount and couldn't get any discounts during my stay without my card. The KTW card still said "DVC" but they told me that it now only indicates that the reservation was on points but NOT that you are a member since the member could have made the reservation for someone else. Since we were only there for two nights, I chose not to go over to SSR to get a duplicate card.

Oh well, lesson learned...

Thanks for the info. Sorry you made that mistake. I was just reminding my daughter to locate her membercard yesterday since she has to get APs during our May trip. On a side note: While eating at Olivia's in January this year, I used my TiW card and for the first time, the server asked me for a picture ID before accepting it. I've been asked for a picture ID at QS using my TiW card, that was a first for TS.

Has anyone been able to add the DVC to your room key when you've made a cash not points reservation, I tried in SSR last year and reception said they could not link them! I still got the discount just by showing my DVC card but it meant carrying that as well as the room key.
