How, oh how, does life keep getting more and more complicated?!?! I just want to scream!

Here's my background -- separated for over a year. STBX walked out on a 21 year marriage because he felt we were "just friends", actually, he had a honey on the side. Well, once he was "free" the honey ran in the other direction.

I live in our house and have custody of our 17 y.o. son. Last night STBX called in tears. He had had a biopsy of a mole on his leg and it came back negative. His regular doc still wasn't convinced, so he sent him to a surgeon to have the entire thing removed. Yesterday, STBX received the news that it is melanoma. He'll have to have more surgery and a CT scan to be sure that it hasn't spread.

What is my role here? I'm totally confused whether I'm supposed to be supportive, just a friend, or whatever.

Any ideas??

TIA,

Edie

Just be a 'supportive friend' if that's what you feel. If you feel more, do more. If you feel less, do less.

Do what you feel is right for you! You are not obligated to do any certain level at all. If you want to be there, be there, if you don't, don't! It really has to be what feels best for you {{hugs}}

Another post to go with your heart.....and if your heart says your just a supportive friend then so be it....

Again, you have to do what feels best for you. How does your son feel about all of this. I think you have to consider his feelings also. Here are lots of {{HUGS}} and I hope it all works out.

Do what feels right. A little kindness goes a long way and really in the end you might end up feeling good about it!

I think you will do what feels right in your gut, Edie. You can feel it, I am sure. Big {hugs}

Yeah, I think respond like you would to any
good friend...spend some time, offer some help.
Be there to talk. Be there for your DS too.
Do you need to be his primary in this? Not
unless that's what you want to do.
I fired up a prayer for him and for you.
