I'm planning a trip in October 2011. It will be myself and four other people (all from different parts of the US). Looking at what people are saying about cost of Disney hotel rooms versus renting a place, it my be cheaper to do this. We're planning between a week and 10 days, and would need at least three bedrooms (if one bedroom has two beds). Plus handicapped accessible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm starting to kick myself for suggestion the trip and offering to plan it all. Cost is becoming a factor to half the group in whether or not they can go.

We stayed at Caribe Cove Resort in November and loved it. It was a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo. It was 1600 square foot. Very clean. The staff was super nice and helpful and it was about 5 miles from disney. I was able to get a pretty good deal on Hotels.com.

Orlando Vacation Homes are nice.

We rented a 4 bed/3 bath house in Sunset Lakes this past July and it was great. There were 10 people in our group. It cost less than 1 room at a value resort. We would have needed 3 rooms for everyone at the value resort. It was less then 10 min drive on the short cut I read about on here. It was very quiet. Had its own pool. I found it on www.vrbo.com, it was listing #256608.

I would rent it again in a second. It was our first trip off site and I don't know that I will stay on site again. The savings was great and we didn't feel like we missed any Disney Magic.

Good luck

The value is in an off site place. Look at a nice 3 bedroom timeshare or a rental home (we prefer timeshares as they mostly have a more "resort" feel about them than the rental houses do. But you get more space often times at a house rental if that is the #1 thing.) We find a 3 bedroom timeshare in most cases all the room we need & we get the true vacation resort look & feel.

We'll never stay at a Disney on site again. Too much for way too little.

I use Online Florida Villas. They offer lots of options and most charge by the number of rooms in the house, not number of people, which should help you. There are photos and detailed information about each property.

You'll save plenty on accomodations and -because of a kitchen - food. The only fly in the ointment is transportation. If you'll all be visiting the parks together, one of you should buy an AP for free parking.

Good luck and I hope it all goes well for you.

:)
