HELP! First time at Poly Garden View???

We will be spending a few nights in the Poly this Christmas and since it is our first time, I don't have a clue what to request. We have a Gardenview room, what building should I request, do they have bunk beds available or what? Please tell me anything that can help me request the best possible room (I know not quaranteed). Thanks!!

Bunk beds are not available at the Poly. Usually they have two doubles and a day bed in the room. Babatongo or Fiji would be my suggestions. You can find a resort map at http://wdwig.com/polymap.jpg

Last time we stayed at the Poly we were in the Samoa building, ground floor, looking directly at the Volcano Pool and the Lagoon and GF to our right. I think our room was #1610, the end room. It was close to everything at the Poly!

It turned out to be the best "non" Lagoon view room we have ever had at the Poly!

I have heard that some rooms do not have balconies, is that still the case?

You will love the Poly's monorail convenience!

We just returned from a week stay at the Poly, and we had GV Tokelau room 2916, with a balcony. We were at the beach end of that longhouse, so it was very convenient for getting to the hammocks and beach, and not a bad walk to the TTC or GCH for the monorail. It was two doors from the end of the longhouse and stairs. The view was great too, in that we looked directly at the TTC Ferry and the Contemporary, and then to the left was Space Mountain, and looking over our balcony we saw the Castle. We enjoyed this room. (I had asked for a first floor room at Tokelau at the beach end, and was given a room at Raratonga, but since I wanted to be close to the beach, I asked the CM and decided on a 2nd floor Tokelau.)

You are correct in that not all 2nd and 3rd floors have balconies. You should definitely check out Tikiman's site www.tikiman2001.homestead.com. It is the most exhaustive information site you will find on the Polynesian, and will give you many pictures of the different longhouses and their particulars.

The WL didn't have any availability for the dates I am going so I was forced to downgrade!

Are there elevators at the Poly? My mom will not be able to walk stairs. If not I will have to call and request first floor for medical reasons.

I did not have a need to use the elevator in our longhouse, so I did not know if they had one or not (I knew they did in the GCH), so I took a look at Tikiman's site but did not find the answer to your question, then I took a look at Deb Will's site, and according to her, all longhouses have elevators in them except for Niue.

All longhouses except Niue have elevators. Niue is only 2 floors and has a second floor walkway from Rarotonga so you can use Rarotonga’s elevator to get to Niue and it is not far from the building. All 3rd floors have balconies but only the second floors in Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui have balconies. The rest only have the sliding glass door that opens to a railing. All first floors have patios. All rooms except the suites in Tonga have two queen beds and one day bed.

My parents need a smoking room and an elevator or first floor. According to your site, that means NIUE correct? If so I need to request first floor, they will get aggravated having to walk from one building to another just to get down to the ground.

No Problem. If you need smoking garden view you have two choices with a possible third. The bottom floor of Nuie (since they won’t want to walk from the other building) the 3rd floor on the garden side of Tuvalu (smoking) and if they have not changed Tahiti back to all non-smoking the second floor on the west end may still be smoking but they mentioned changing it back to non-smoking after concierge left.

Just one suggestion. The distance you have to walk from Rarotonga to Niue is much shorter than the elevator is to most rooms in other buildings. What I mean is the deck connecting Rarotonga to Niue is very short an the longhouse itself is only 6 rooms long so the distance from the elevator in Rarotonga to the rooms in Niue may be closer than the farthest rooms in the other longhouses to their own elevator. Does that make sense?

If they could hold off the smoke I would go with Tokelau or maybe even think of adding on Concierge and staying on the 3rd floor of Hawaii on the garden side.

Rat - we stayed in Aotearoa 3rd floor..first room next to the icemachine/elevator.
Great Lagoon view!!! It was a garden rated room but I could see the lagoon and the GL at night...had a balcony ( 2nd floor rooms do not) and the room ws really large compared to the beloved WL. Also really quiet for being the closest room to the elevator. DD was 2 at the time and she didn't get woken up once (except when she rolled outta the bed )
