Our church youth group is having a chili cook-off this weekend & our team's theme is "Jail House Rock" Chili. Besides for this song, I need several other songs to play from our booth. The kids will be dressed as cops & crooks. I thought of the theme song from the TV show Cops but don't know the exact name.

I really need help because we are competing w/ my DH who has vowed to WIN!!! BTW their theme is "Nun Better Chili". Hope you can help us out!!
Thanks!:bounce:

Isn't the name of that song, "Bad Boys"? That's just a guess.

What's that Johnny Cash song...Fulcrum Prison, or something like that...

How about Prisoner of Love? Not sure who recorded that...

Geez, I'm not very helpful, am I? :o

I shot da sheriff but I did not shoot da deputy... by the late great Bob Marley

In the jailhouse now from the O'Brother where art thou soundtrack

"Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash
"Jailbreak" by Thin Lizzy
"Jail Bait" by Motorhead
"Jailbreak" by AC/DC
"House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals (it's about a prison in New Orleans)
"Momma Tried" by Merle Haggard
"Hallowed be thy Name" by Iron Maiden (bit of a stretch, but it's about a guy on death row)
"Police On My Back" by Eddie Grant (and the Clash)
"Police and Thieves" by Junior Mervin (or the Clash)
"Sam Hall" by Black 47

That's all I can come up with off the top of my head.

ChefBilly, Thanks for the reminder. I saw The Clash when I was a kid. They sang as song w/ lyrics..."Breakin' rocks in the hot sun, I fought the law & the law won..." would that be the name or what. I know someone else sang it as well but I have NO idea who that was.

It called "I Fought The Law" and there's also Eric Clapton's version of "I Shot the Sheriff"

Here's another one... The Night Chicago Died.

My daddy was a cop on the east side of Chicago
Back in the U.S.A. back in the bad old days

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still
When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
With the forces of the law

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!

And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old east side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died
There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
"'Bout a hundred cops are dead!"

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!

And ther was no sound at all
But the clock upon the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my mama's face
And he brushed her tears away

The night Chicago died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!

The night Chicago died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!

The night Chicago died
Na-na na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed!

Police & Thieves by The Clash.

Been caught stealing by Jane's addiction

Penitentiary Blues Lightnin' Hopkins
