I will be going to WDW Oct 5-11th. On Sunday Oct 9th we will be meeting up with extended family ( a total of 17!!! of us) at MGM for the entire day and then catching Fantasmic at the end. Originally we were going to do ps's for Mama's so we could get the Fantasmic pkg....however, someone would like to try SCi Fi out. I am a little concerned that MGM may be crowded that day since it is a Sunday but also Columbus Day weekend, so I think we may need to get to Fantasmic earlier then usual on a "slower time of year". We have never done Fantasmic without the package...so, my question. Do we ALL need to go to wait in line and get seats, or can just a few of us go and secure seats, while the others try to catch some rides and then they can head over like 30 minutes before the show starts and meet up with us? Thank you so much....now that the 90 day mark is here it makes it seem so much more real!!!!! Have GREAT vacations! :flower:

Firstly, don't try to reserve seats with a few of you. It won't work. CM's will tell you you can't do it and other guests will cause issues sometimes.

They fill the theatre up in rows so if you show up seperate you will have problems.

Though it is Columbus day I don't think it will be a BIG problem at all. It's still not a very long vacation time for kids or anything.

Also the dinner package was useless to us. We did it this past weekend and were told to show up at the special gate by 8:30 for 9:00 showing. We showed up at 8:30, got in and the place still had PLENTY of seats. By 9:00 it was full, but if you show up 45 minutes early, you WILL GET A SEAT for all of you. You may be lower down but you will get seats.

I would have your whole party come and grab seats and then you can send out a person or two out to go bring refreshments back to the group. The wait isn't that bad.

This is what has worked for us. (We've been during Columbus Day twice.)

Get your supper at the counter service places at the entrance to RnRC. You should do this about 1 hr. and 15-30 minutes before Fantasmic. You can take the trays up the hill to the entrance of Fantasmic. Get seats (you should get decent ones with this timing) and eat there. There are restrooms and other snacks available once you get to the top, so you shouldn't have to leave once you're in the Fantasmic area. In fact, they discourage you from leaving because when it's full, they say you cannot get in even if you tell them your seat is already saved.

I would not recommend the Sci-fi to begin with. I only had one experience there and that was enough for me. I also would not recommend having part of your group try to join you 30 min. before the start of Fantasmic. We usually have fun passing the time with something in the stands. Eventually the wave gets going and we've never regretted getting there early.

I have never been to Fantasmic! but I have been to the Sci-Fi Dine In and I disagree about not going (if that makes sense) I found it to be really cool-the atmosphere is just great.

About saving seats, its best not to do that. Youll probably end up being forced to let others use them and your party will be seperated.
