so I just go a call that the Tomorrowland dessert party we had paid for that is on 4/29 is not happening do to there isn't a party scheduled!!! It is me, DH, and my almost 3 and 4 year old sons.

So bummed- this is all my 4 year old talks about

BUT

with a refund they gave me two options that will be free b/c of their error

1- special spot in the Rose Garden with a box of free deserts - this is nice but my 4 yr old is hates loud noises- he was scared in Sept. when we were directly in front of the castle.

2- we can go to the Illuminations party at Epcot for FREE- but that is at Epcot and I haven't heard good things- they will give us free entry into the park though- which is nice

What would you do????

Bummer for the change of plans, but cool offers!

I think #1 would be the most special, because that doesn't seem like something you can get any other time (or maybe it is? IDK). Will DS tolerate ear plugs or headphones to muffle the noise?

If not, I'd be happy with #2 as well.

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the reply. Really- the more I think about it and discuss with DH the more bummed I'm getting.

My 4 year old was REALLY looking forward to this- he even pulls up the MK map on my phone to show me where we are having a dessert party. We were really excited about the desert options and table seating.

It seems the Rose Garden is just a FP spot for view- so basically we are getting a free FP and a box of desserts- but we have to stand- and fight a crowded area to get to and from.

The Illuminations, again, is at Epcot- we would have to leave MK to go there. Plus there are fewer dessert options and they seem more "mature" for my kids- again standing room only- not much fun with two toddlers.

Do you think I could ask for another option- maybe the Tomorrow land party later in the week? Still throws off our schedule but we were really excited for this.

I'd call back and ask --it never hurts.

I agree with this. Even if you have to pay for it, that's what you were expecting in the first place (of course, fingers crossed they comp it! ;)) Maybe they can get you a spot if the party happens to be sold out.

I just called and left a message- thanks. It was already paid for so I def. don't mind paying but they are making this less than magical for us. It's hard knowing we have to plan things months in advance just so they can cancel them less than 4 weeks out.

There have been many reports on the DIS of dessert parties being canceled during April, so I'm not sure how much luck you'll have rescheduling.

That said, I agree with PP about booking the Pirates and Pals tour. It leaves from the Contemporary, so it's convenient to MK, and there won't be nearly as much fireworks noise to bother your DS. (They do pipe the music in so you can hear.) You'll get to meet Captain Hook and Smee, along with Peter Pan at the end. Usually, you get to see the Electric Water Pageant as well. Lots of kids dress up as pirates or Pan characters - a number were decked out from Pirates League, too. I think it would be more fun for your boys than either of the options Disney gave you.
