HELP!! 16w/o WON'T SLEEP!

My oldest was very much like that. He actually didn't sleep through the night until he was 4 years old! YIKES!

I found myself sleeping on a LaZBoy chair with him many nights. He was either propped on my shoulder or lying in my arms on a breastfeeding pillow thing. The other nights he was in our bed with us.

I also worked so I needed sleep!

You have to find what works for you. Everyone will have opinions, which you can already see.

Take them with a grain of salt and find what works for you. I think sleep is of the utmost importance right now and however you can make that happen is the best thing!

Just wanted to add that medicine droppers can be used for those bfed babies who won't take a bottle.

OP here. Finally getting some sleep! YAY!!!! Thank you for all of the suggestions! She's going down around 11 or 11:30 and sleeping until about 6. (sometimes she still gets up around 3, but goes right back to bed after eating) I feed her then she goes back down until about 10. :cloud9: I don't get back to sleep after the 6am feeding because DS is getting up at 7, but hey, I'm not going to complain!

We started swaddling her with her arms out and it's working. She likes the freedom of having her arms out (she had to have them out at the hospital because of the I.V.). DD has been sleeping in our room since birth, either in a bassinet or her crib. I don't want to co-sleep because I did that with DS and I STILL have to lay down with DS for his nap. :headache:

DD has her 4 month check up in 2 weeks and I'll ask him about the cereal. I NEVER would have though about an eye dropper! I'll have to try it because that's how she gets vitamin D.

Thank you for all of the suggestions (and support!!)!
Now I just need to get her to take a nap for longer than 45 min. One step at a time! :)

THANK YOU!!!

So glad you are getting some sleep! While I wouldn't suggest the medicine dropper for regular feedings (it would take too long) we did have to use it on occasion with my daughter who would not take a bottle at all.
Good luck with the naps. My daughter NEVER took one for more than the 45 minutes. We got her to sleep good nights, but the naps never. :scared1:

I need glasses because I thought the original poster stated 16 year old wouldn't sleep, I totally missed the week part.

Glad to hear it is getting better.

OP.. so happy to hear things aare getting better!

good for you!:thumbsup2

as I told both my DILs. you will hear advice from me, your moms, your friends, everyone! listen to all, and pick and choose whatever fits for YOU.there seldom is ONE right answer. (a bit here, a bit there) there reallyIS no ONE right way. the human race has survived for many years, and all moms do things differently.
listen to ALL advice, and choose. what works for YOU.

it won't stop here.. next you will be asking advice about many things...and get MANY varied responses.

i have lots of knick/knacks. I put them all away when my little one started crawling around. a neighbor told me "NO! you have to leave them out, and teach your little one about..'no, don't touch'!. so.. I put BACK out all my "knick/knacks" , (trying to take advice) .. I swear , it wasn't one day, I had a wooden puzzle box, with my buffalo head nickle inside. .. my 2 year old somehow managed to reach 2 shelves up. grab it, somehow figure out how to open it... and ATE my buffalo head nickel!!! :scared1:
a trip to the emergency room, 3 xrays later... it came out...2 days later...in his diaper! (needless to say, no coin collector wanted it!:rotfl2:) but it could have been a disaster! why? because I listened to anothers well meaning advice... NOT my own instincts!
listen to advice, noww, and many years from now... and then ...do what YOU know is best for you and your kids!!!:cool1:

FYI, cereal, doesn't matter how thin, will set like wallpaper paste if not rinsed out completely.

I started DD on cereal at 2 months (w/ Dr. approval) and used a spoon. No, she didn't know how to use it at first, but she learned quickly.

Good luck.

I agree. I just reread what I had written and realized I wasn't clear at all. :rolleyes:I was thinking more along the lines of her DH being able to use the dropper for Br. Milk or formula so someone else could feed the baby while mom got some sleep.
