I think the guys put Brad up because they thought if they put Josh up he's get booted, since I believe Bonnie has had better services then Josh. So they put Brad up thinking Ramsey would def. get rid of Bonnie over him, since he was not the worst person. I then think Ramsey was annoyed, since he seemed suprised at their pick, so got rid of Brad, just because Blue team wasn't being fair, and not putting their worst person up.

Remember a few weeks ago, they nominated Melissa and Josh, and Ramsey said they'd been overruled, and told Bonnie and Vinnie to get up there? Since those two weren't the worst. I think that's what Blue did again, and nominated their second-to-worse, to try and get another girl gone instead of one of them, and it backfired.

yep.....Strategy backfired. I thought when the he and Bonnie were up, Chef would boot Bonnie out the door, not Brad

I knew he'd end up combining the teams eventually. Jen's behavior was quite different than normal on this episode. Maybe the true side of her is showing. I found it interesting that she complained and rolled her eyes a lot about the dinner menu, saying it wasn't good enough, etc., yet she didn't seem to come up with ONE idea of her own. Same in the first challenge where they had to use the leftovers -- she didn't like anyone's ideas, but had none of her own.

I loved it when Chef Ramsey asked what imput Julia had to the menu and she told the truth -- nothing! Then she added what she had wanted on there and it turned out to be the restaurant's top order.

This far in to the season and those snooty women still can't see Julia has saved them from themselves too many times to count. I am beginning to change my mind regarding the winner. I hope that Julia does win, she has the most common sense, she understands how to communicate in the kitchen, her work ethic is stellar and she knows what she doesn't know.
The other two can't see past their credentials to know that they still don't know enough to run a kitchen. It is far different to work in a kitchen and follow direction than it is to take the reins and go.

I agree. ::yes:: I think they did that, thinking that it would save one of the guys from elimination. I'm surprised that Chef Ramsey didn't veto that choice as well, except that he's already pulled that "surprise move" once.

I think the crying Rock preview is just a creative editing ploy to make us think that he's in danger of getting eliminated. I'd be shocked if he doesn't at least make it to the finale.

They are still playing this as though it is a game rather than a test to determine who has enough experience and knowledge to determine strengths and weaknesses and then put the team first rather than one individual. Chef Ramsey looked peeved when the guys played this way once again and I think he made them pay for it. He has given them a warning that customers are first in his restaurants. I wonder if any besides Julia will heed it.

I agree- there's more to running a restaurant than knowing what all the fancy foods and are. Julia definitely can RUN a restaurant - the others may be able to put forth more fancy menus - but I have serious doubts about their ability to manage a kitchen.

I would not hire any of those clowns. The only contestant who has consistently put her customers first and watched out for her team is Julia. It is possible to teach her to cook a different level of cuisine, but I don't think you can teach common sense, and the rest don't have it.

I really liked Rock until a couple weeks ago (with the garbage digging incident...when I think his true colors really started to show) and now he comes off as very arrogant and seems like a jerk to me. I was seriously rooting for him to win but now I am definitely leaning more towards Julia as well.

I'm not liking Rock too much anymore. I hope Julia or Bonnie win. I agree that Rock and Brad's strategy backfired.

I'd eat at Julia's Waffle house anytime. At least she can cook. Whoever said exposure to "fancy" stuff will come with experience is correct. The problem is can you be an executive chef of a restaurant without it.

I totally agree with you guys. Julia has zero ego, and 100% common sense. She's a smart girl ("for a line cook", as they say), and I hope she wins it! :thumbsup2

Hi all... I think this is my first post on this thread... this is the first season I've watched this show and I am hooked... I agree with the PPs about Julia... definitely the best of the bunch right now in spite of her credentials (and maybe BECAUSE of her credentials, since she's not so high up on her horse as most of the others are).

My other thought about Julia is this: Does anyone here watch Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America? I love that show because Chef Ramsay narrates throughout, and I think you get a much better idea of what he thinks is important in a chef and in a restaurant. He is no fan of fish and chips but he also thinks the simpler, the better... and definitely wants to serve things the customers will eat. Julia's comment was dead-on, about wanting the NY strip because she knew that's what she'd like to eat at a nice restaurant. She doesn't think like a frou-frou chef... but she is willing to learn how to incorporate new ideas into things she already knows.

Us too, us too......we're not fans of "survivor" and those kinds of shows but we caught this one by accident ONE TIME and were hooked.
I really am rooting for Julia......as someone else said she doesn't have that big ego to contend with and she's right on as far as seeming to understand what the customer wants. I was blown away that SO many people ordered her steak....and good for her! That was cool........

This is EXACTLY how I am feeling lately after that garbage episode. He came off like a donkeys behind! he just kept complaining and complaining and getting sooo fired up! I just wanted to reach through the tv and tell him to GET OVER IT AND GROW UP!

Did anybody watch tonight? I don't want to say too much in case ya'll didn't see it....

Yeah, I saw it. I was sad on one hand, but really happy on the other, know what I mean?

(When can we talk explicitly and not in veiled references?) :rotfl2:

On one hand it totally stunk --- but I'm so excited for her opportunity!!! When Chef started talking, I knew. I kept hoping I was wrong, but then when he unveiled his surprise.... That was so cool!!

I'm embarrassed to admit the end found me crying. VERY sad she had to go but while I really dislike Mr Ramsey (he's such a mean jerk) what he plans to do for her is just so wonderful and generous! I really look forward to seeing updates on how she's doing.

DH was verrrry quiet at the end so I suspect he was a bit choked up too. :p

SPOILERS IN TODAYS SHOW:

Okay i was sad to see Julia go, but i looved what he did in the end. I too had tears in my eyes & can't believe how sweet he was to her. :sad1: LOVED IT!

Rocks personality is bothering me sooo much, but i really think he will take it in the end. I'm just not liking this guy anymore :sad2:

I haven't liked Rock from the beginning. At first he was just egotistical. Now, he's just showing what a big baby he is. I wouldn't want to work under someone like that.

Winning would have been a real big deal for her - but I think what he did was classy. In the long run, this may makehermore successful. I wonder ifshewill come back like Chef Ramsey requested.:)

I think in the end Julia is the real winner. If she had gone all the way and won this thing, and she was my favorite, I think that she would have had a tough learning curve. Her attitude, her work ethic and her refusal to stoop to the lowest level to win got her the culinary education and job reference that the others just will never attain. Perhaps she will not get the gold ring, but this lady is the real winner in the contest.

I could see her doing some"homestyle fancy fusion" that could really set a trend.
