hello newbie here, anybody up for 140's club?

I'm still here..having a bit of a setback emotionally, physically, and food wise. I haven't been to curves since, umm not sure when. I've been really beating myself up about it as the days are ticking by. But I think I'm over it now and plan on doing curves tomorrow and getting back on eating right again and drinking my water.:thumbsup2 I'm not realistically going to lose what I had wanted to for our Disneyland trip. But that's okay,I will be in better shape by then and be better equipped to walk around the parks all day without losing steam!:woohoo: And might have to tailor my wardrobe buying to hide my trouble spots instead of fully losing them. And I can do that..."What not to wear" is one of my favorite shows! :yay: :dance3: So after my weighin tomorrow I will give an update and will start again on the journey!:yay: How's everyone else doin today?

I'm still here, and following my plan, although i feel like im going nowhere. I don't weigh myself until wed, but i've been tracking inches, and ive lost almost 3 inches in a week, but i feel as though there isnt a visual lost. I look at myself and i look the same. Sure my pants are loose on me, but i still dont feel it yet.

Although i am bloated from you-know-what, so that could be affecting my mood.

Hi! VWcat- try not to be too discouraged. One day at a time. I know that is easy to say. And I totally get bummed out by a bad weigh in. You still have over a month till you go to Disneyland right? You can still see some results by then. Are you following a certain eating style? Counting calories or something? Hope you had a good weigh in today!!!

Nicole, Throughout the last 10 months I've been keeping track of my measurements and lots of time the scale won't go down at all but my measurements do. I think it's good to keep track of both so you have a back up method of gauging how good you are doing! I wish I would see some changes physically too. I still have no waist. My stomach goes out where it should go in. I'm getting frustrated.

Good luck everybody!!

hello..so I did curves today,yay me:cool1:
I tried to take it slow on the boards so I wouldn't wreck my ankle again but it's killing me but it's okay because: I LOST 7.25 inches !!!!!!!!!!!(took 5 weeks tho) But only 2 pounds,so that is pretty crazy. You know what, I don't care about the weight,I'm now focusing on inches:banana: Because obviously it's coming off, just not weight wise which is fine as long as those inches are coming off:thumbsup2 Nicole I got the pms too so maybe it's that, and I've had sooo much salt lately too. Three inches in one week that sounds pretty darn good to me!:woohoo: Fofinia yeah I have 53 days till we go,so I can stay on track until then. The first few weeks I was dieting somewhat, but I was still eating butter and such. The past three weeks I just haven't gone pig out crazy but I have eaten bad stuff. I followed the sparkpeople for a bit till I got discouraged and havent been back. But tomorrow is a new day and I will be back on track eating all my fruits and veggies and cutting down on carbs, fat, salt and sugar. I'm glad that we are still plugging along and keeping each other motivated. thanks ladies, talk ta ya soon:):grouphug:

Hello Ladies!:goodvibes Can I join your group? Ya'll are so supportive of eachother...me too, me too please!;)

I am currently at 175:scared1: but want to be between 140 - 145, wake up at around 140 and go to bed at 145. I seriously fluctuate about 5 pounds from am to pm, so I have to qualify my weight based on what time of day it is!

Congratulations on all ya'll's progress to date, weight loss, inches loss, and just flat out getting out and getting a work out in. Getting started is the hardest part, but motivation gets easier as you start to see results.

At this point, I only have one thing to add that may be of help to ya'll...body brushing. Ever heard of it? My mom treated me to some spa services one time. During one service that was a body wrap type thing, the technician actually asked me if I had recently had my cycle, because she could actually she the excess water on me:eek:. She was using a body brush on me and told me that I needed to do it on a regular basis. Basically, there is a brush that is specifically called a body brush. You brush your body toward your lymph nodes to encourage circulation toward your lymph nodes to process the water in your system...so you brush up your legs toward your groin, brush up your arms toward your arm pit, brush your back as best you can toward the nearest one (or get some help with that:laughing: ), and I can't remember how you deal with your stomach. There was something about brushing in a circular motion and it was important to go clockwise or counterclockwise, I can't ever remember, and I hope it wasn't that important:lmao:. Anyway...I have found that this really helps with the bloats from pms, post ms, ms, salt...you name it.

My only progress so far on my dieting goals is successfully giving up Diet Coke. I have been off the sauce since April 1, with only one break at the movie theater, with one large one, but no refill. This is huge for me...I could go through 2L in a day.:rolleyes1

Anyway, reading your posts has been motivating for me...I am going to try to hit the fitness center for our subdivision...problem is that the wall that all the cardio equipment faces is painted a really awful tomato red color. I can't stand it and I hate having to look at it:sick: which is such a weak excuse. I too listen to my iPod. I like Christian music...and I love to work out to Toby Mac...even if you don't like that type of music, you may like Toby Mac because it is a great hip hop beat with uplifting lyrics unlike some others with the same beat.

of course! come on in!!!:cool1: I'm so glad we're motivating others:banana: :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: Yeah I've heard about the body brushing,do you know where we could buy one? Cutting out the diet coke is great, that stuff is bad. Lately I've been thinking about going back on the nutrasweet for my coffee and tea but really hate the fake stuff. I did Curves again yesterday, yay me:banana: Red would be kind of hard to look at,what an odd color, wonder why? Well ladies I hope you all are doin great and have a super weekend!!:grouphug:

Way to go VWCat! Curves twice in a row! Hope your ankle is feeling better.

Welcome jmsadams!! Nice to have you! I've heard of body brushing through the lady that does the T-tapp workouts. I think it's ttapp.com. I've never done it. But I believe she says it prevents sagging skin from weight loss. Hmmm, I had done some of her exercises before i wonder if I should again.

I've been doing my Firm workouts. And I bought some rollerblades this week. I actually can't wait to do it. Maybe Sunday afternoon I'll be able to.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yeah I've heard about the body brushing,do you know where we could buy one?

You should be able to get a body brush in any bath supply store, like Bath and Body Works, The Body Shop and you may be able to get one in the specialty bath are of stores like Target and WalMart.

I did a bit more reading up on body brushing, since I brought it up, and basically water retention is water that has left your circulatory system and found its way into your tissues under the skin. Body brushing encourages this water to go back into your circulatory system and thus be properly processed. Some things that I found that were key to maintaining proper fluid balance are what we all already know, keep drinking water, reduce your salt, exercise, and one other that I thought was interesting, be sure to have adequate protein intake. Other benefits of body brushing include, help in reducing celulite:thumbsup2 , exfoiliation, and improvement of skin tone. Okay, now you know, I am a total research geek...if you ever wonder about something, I have the time and inclination to find the answers. I hope I don't make you crazy :rotfl2: I have to admit...I have a body brush (2 in fact), but I haven't been using them:rolleyes1 but now I have totally encouraged myself to start. Recommended time to body brush is before your shower or bath or before exercise.

Way to go on getting back to Curves, VWCat:thumbsup2 .

fofina, I looked up ttapp. It looks pretty good. It looks like a program for a combo pilates, yoga type thing. The website makes it sound like a wonder system. Did you have success when you did it before?

Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

Hi. I actually haven't really done the T-tapp. I've tried a few of the demo moves she has on the site. And I did notice a reduction by 1/2 inch of my belly. But I was dieting too. So I don't know. I'm thinking about actually doing the tapes. We'll see. She recommends the body brushing as a way to prevent sagging skin. That's how I found it. I wanted to get rid of my pregnancy belly sag. But I haven't tried it. But maybe I should!

I was a good girl today and I did a Firm workout. I was a little disappointed as it was only 40 mins instead of the other tape that is 55. Oh well. Now I'm off to a baby shower to try and not eat any cake!!

Good luck everybody!!:goodvibes

Hello everybody! I would love to join your team. I have 25 pounds to lose to reach my ultimate goal, but right now, I just want to get out of the 150's and into the 140's. I need to take baby steps. I read this thread and found my way to sparkpeople.com. I am going to give it a shot and see how it goes. I'm not a huge fan of counting calories, because I never really know how many calories are in certain foods, but I like that this takes the guess work out of it.

I am really hoping that this works. I have gained 25 pounds in the last 16 months, and really need to drop it. I am a WW Lifetime member, but I just can't seem to get back on track. I think it's time for something different. I need to be held accountable to somebody other than myself, so I'm counting on your support:grouphug:

Thank you for starting this thread! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you:)

Welcome NHmom! Sparkpeople is nice, I think, because you don't have to put in the calories. Just click on the item and most of the time the item is in there. I have had to manually input a few things. But then you never have to do it again. If you can't find something you put in before check off the box for items you've put in. That narrows the search considerably.

I do WW too. And funny when I track my points via calories on sparkpeople I go over my target when I use all my 35. Especially if I use more than a few a day. Last week I officially quit my meeting. So I'm doing it on my own right now. I'm a little nervous. But we'll see. Good luck!

How is everyone else? Here in New England it is gorgeous. We, the kids and I, played in the yard, washed the car and did a little gardening. I also did 60 mins of The Firm aerobics today too. They promise you will see results in 10 workouts. I'm just about at that point. I'm gonna take my measurements in a few days and see.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

and this is day 3 of it.:thumbsup2 We decided that we needed to work together to make this happen, and that we have to work out in order to lose weight and be healthy, and the only time we can do that is early, early in the morning. So, we both are waking up at the same time, 4:45 am. and on MWF DH heads down to our fitness center here (we live in a master planned community, so it is a neighborhood type thing). He has to hit the road by 6:15 at the latest to get to work...and on TuTh I head down there, then I get to pick b/w SaSu when I want to go while DH hangs out with DS6. I get some alone time, and they get quality time. The weekend hours of the fitness center are weird and more limited, so can't do it early in the morning. If it isn't our day to workout, then it is our day for prayer time, meditation time, Bible reading...and especially to be praying for the one working out, because we will not be able to do this alone in our own strength, we need some divine help:goodvibes

So, this was day 3, it is totally black outside, stormy, rainy, thunder, lightening, just the kind of day that you want to just snuggle up and sleep in some more...BUT we did it, we got up AGAIN:woohoo: :cool1:

This is hard stuff ladies...the more I begin to focus on trying to be healthy and have a fit, active lifestyle, the more I see the evidence around me that this is hard and many people are not successful in their pursuit of it...because it is an effort, a sacrifice, hard work, trying, frustrating...and I have decided that the more that I realize that this isn't easy, the more satisfaction I get when I actually get up and, as Nike says, Just Do It.

I am exploring this other mind set, rather than trying to think it's no big deal, just go work out, it's only 30 minutes, or less than an hour, its only whatever, I am thinking to myself...yes, it's hard, it's difficult, it's NOT easy, and I get myself riled up thinking that I want to be better than a lazy bum that just wants to sit around read books, watch tv, read the DIS boards:rolleyes: , and I really find that vision of who I want to be (now and 50 years from now) and I think that the vision is worth working for and in fact, fighting for, because this is a struggle and a fight, and then, when the baby steps are taken, when the little battles are won (like not having the cake that everyone else is eating, not drinking the soda, etc etc), then I put into perspective that baby steps are hard...babies crash, they get up, they fall, they get up, they wobble, they get up, they stumble, they get up, they face plant, they get up, they bump into things, they hang onto things desperately as they try to maintain an upright position...and I realize that we all should be very proud and have great satisfaction in our baby steps...they are hard won steps, those baby ones...KEEP IT UP EVERYONE!! and if you fall, by all means, GET UP! and TRY AGAIN!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hey NHmom! Glad to have ya aboard! Sparkspeople is pretty good,I like the inspiring email they send out periodically, gets me back on track. I'm having a tough time with the dieting and keeping with my Curves regime. I missed it on the weekend because they are closed at noon:scared1: what the heck?? And then Monday I had a funeral so I missed again and then drank coke and wine:rolleyes1 Oh well,I really have to get over this being skinny by Disneyland thing because it's not gonna happen! I have 45 days today until we go:banana: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: and I am not gonna be under 150 I don't think:eek: but you never know....So I'm not counting on it,so then I won't be disgusted in myself. All that really matters is that I'm getting in better shape to make my life better not to be slim for a trip, but it is helping me stick to it somewhat. I am planning on eating my face off in DL:rotfl2: so if I starve myself and exercise like a pyscho until then when I start to pig out I will gain it all back so taking it slow is a good thing right? hehepopcorn::

jmsadams, good for you! You guys sound like you are doing awesome so far:thumbsup2 You are right, this is a battle,it is easy to sit on the couch all day and eat yummy stuff,it's quite pleasant:laughing: But then later in life we won't be able to do everything we want to do,because we were not willing to keep trying. Keep trying, keep pluggin away, just keep swimming, heyyyyy nemo:woohoo: Thanks for the inspiring words:goodvibes:hug:
Fofinia, sounds like you had a great weekend! I'm so glad that the weather is nicer,it makes life more pleasant. 10 workouts? ooooooo,I should buy that dvd:yay: Let us know what happens!
Nicole...where are you? hope you are doing alright, let us know how you are doing!:hippie:
Well ladies I'm back to searching the dis boards for trip tips and enjoy my morning coffee:coffee: Have a great day everyone:banana: Thanks for keeping us inspired and on the right track:grouphug:

Thanks Jmsadams! You are right it is hard! and why should we freak out or be upset with ourselves if we slip up a little bit? We need to look at all the other things we do that is on the right track. And just keep aiming to do more. And by the way, Wow on getting up so early to workout! Good for you! I am not an early person. Glad I don't have to work out then. It would surely be an even harder struggle then!

VWCat, sorry to hear you had a funeral. Hope your week gets better. But you know, you may not see the results you wanted by your trip but 45 days is a long time. And you can definitely see some! At least maybe drop a few pounds so that will cover the ones you gain on vacation!!!! I'm so jealous too, I want to go to Disneyland. I haven't been in 3 years. (I do get to go to the World once a year though.)

I did my Firm workout again today. It's getting quite a bit easier. I measured my belly today and I've lost 1/2 inch since February. I would like to lose more though. Well let's say I need to lose more. A lot more. But I'm willing to take it a 1/2 inch at a time. I've also been wearing my pedometer and hitting over 10,000 steps a day. Not including my workout time. The dumb thing won't stay on my workout clothes. So I'm aiming for every other day for the workouts. Hopefully......

Good luck everybody! talk to you soon!

Hey everyone!

Keep it up fofina! Great to hear you keep doing your tapes.:cheer2:

VWCat, a lot can happen in 45 days..do not, I repeat, DO NOT decide now that it won't happen. You will not know if it will or won't happen until the day before. Don't get down on yourself. Your schedule has been affected, it's okay, just get back up and hit Curves again (and stop hitting the Coke). I know Coke is really hard to give up...I've had my own issues with that...have you tried iced tea? Keep some flavored green tea and make iced tea with it...green tea is an antioxidant and a metabolism booster so it will be doing your body good. Then try this, for every non water drink you drink, you have to drink two glasses of water. Keep drinking your water!!!

Welcome NHMom!

Today was my second workout on our new plan...its crazy but today felt great:cool1: ...I thought I would be so tired...and the first couple days were rough...but today...I do feel tired, but not too sleepy, ya know?

Today is also officially Day 4 of 8 for our colon cleanse. I didn't mention that last time, but Days 1-3 are a precleanse kind of thing. Today is the first official "cleansing" day. This is our third year in a row to do it. It has been a great thing for us. Uhhhmmmm, if you are interested in more info, I am totally willing to share, but otherwise, I'll leave it simple, incase TMI:scared: But I am expecting good progress between the workouts and the cleanse.:woohoo:

Hope ya'll are having a great day!

I actually have been thinking about a cleanse. Do tell, all the details. Is it just the colon? Are we talking cleaning out the area with liquid or a diet type? I've got a body cleanse kit in my cupboard but it's pills and some liquid. Only if you want to give the details;)

If you have been thinking about doing one, then I think your body is trying to tell you something...you should do it. Especially if you have never done one before...you might be amazed at the results.

So, the one we do is from blessedherbs.com. I researched a lot three years ago, and I just thought this was the best one. The colon cleanse is colon only, but this year I am doing the 21 day internal cleanse afterward. I am really excited about it because I think I need to do it, I made the commitment and spent the money for it:eek: It's a little expensive. All the gory details, and I mean photos and everything are on that web site.:scared:

You do two different things on the cleanse. First, you take digestive stimulants to keep your GI tract moving. They aren't horse pills, kind of like a multivitamin. They are filled with the powder and you can taste the anise herb (black licorise) when you swallow them. You have to figure out how many capsules you need to take to have 3 to 4 BMs a day. Yes, a day. I admit to having problems with this if I eat too much wheat. That really puts a plug in the works, and I really like wheat, pizza, pasta, buns, bread, etc Second, you drink this horrible, horrible concoction. They provide you with a shaker bottle, which you fill half way or so with organic apple juice. Then you add this powder to it, gritty, very gritty, shake it up for 15 to 30 seconds and chug it as fast as you can without breathing. At least, that's what I do. And you have to drink it quickly, because it is a bulk forming mixture, it will thicken and thicken the longer it sets. It does this because this is basically what is going to clean out your colon. Fill your colon with this bulk that will move along everything that is in your colon. The powder comes in ginger flavor or peppermint. Only ginger was available 3 years ago, and it was really rough. The peppermint is much much easier to take.

So, the precleanse, days 1-3 are to determine how many digestive stimulants you need to take for the desired results. Also, you drink the concoction once every evening. Some people may take longer to figure out their number than three days. This is okay, you have to have your system moving, so once you get it going, then the real cleanse begins.

Days 4 to 8 consist of drinking that mix 5 times a day every 3 hours. So, for me, because I woke up so early, I am doing 6:30 am, 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 6:30 pm. Each night you take the digestive stimulants. You can control how powerful the cleanse is with your diet, depending on if you eat, and what you eat if you do. We go hard core and don't eat, because if we are going to do it, we will aim for the best results possible. I have done quite a bit of fasting for many different reasons. Most commonly, I have done a 3 day water only fast. You can feel pretty hungry on day 2. But, with this fast, even being 5 days, seriously, you are hungry, but then you drink the drink and you really feel kind of full. It's not a I have enjoyed eating, tasting great food, I feel stuffed kind of full. It's more like, okay, I'm just not really super hungry anymore. I will live.;) That's day one anyway. By the end, you are so sick of the stupid drink that you dread doing it, you don't even feel hungry anymore, the drink is too much and you don't even want it.:rotfl:

But, in the meanwhile, you are starting to feel really good, especially as you watch what is really bad come out of your system. There is no cramping. There is no uncontrolable needs for the toilet. It is more like, you can actually hear the grumble rumble in your middle region and then you realize that, hmmm, I should go to the bathroom. You go and it seems like you leave a couple pounds behind.:scared1: I may be weird, but the more you go, the more you want to.

So, controling it. If you eat, the closer your diet is to raw vegan, then the more powerful. The least effective is to not change the way you eat, especially if your diet includes highly processed foods and meat. Fasting gives the most results. The idea is that your colon has developed a lining of solid waste of sorts. This waste is stuck to the sides of your colon. So, the least amount of food you eat, the more the bulk forming stuff can stick to what is stuck in your colon to move it out and the less it sticks to food you continue to introduce to your system.

The first time we did it, DH lost 12 pounds. My first time was rough. I didn't really find my number, but started the cleanse anyway, so DH and I could be on the same schedule. Bad. Bad. Very bad. Not a good one. Last year, I lost about 8 pounds. There are testimonies of people with really bad diets, lifestyles that have lost much more, I want to say like 20 or 30 pounds.

The thing to remember is that some of the weight will come back. It has to. You will start eating again. I read in the Okanawa Diet that it takes about 2 pounds of food for the average person to be satisfied with food in any given day. That's why it is so good to eat food that is not calorically dense. That is, a lot of bang for your buck. I bought a hot air popcorn popper from Goodwill for less than $2. I keep popcorn kernels around, and also, I keep the spray kind of fake butter around in the fridge. It doesn't have trans fat in it at all, and I just spray that popcorn like crazy as it comes out of the popper. It's a lot of food without killing me on calorie content. (I love chips, mmmmmmm, I could get a whole bag in one sitting no problem, that is, the big ones, I could eat about 3 or 4 big grabs). This really helps me when I feel like I just need to eat something and maybe eat a lot.popcorn::

Anyway, not to get off subject, but a few pounds will come back. But the deal is that you have to drink a lot of water with this thing. You have to. So water weight isn't a factor here. It is absolutely, what you start putting back into your system. And the thing is that after you have totally focused on this for so many days, you really do develop a desire to be healthier with your body. I admit that my DH is doing this with me, and that is huge in the helpful department. And this year, just to really go crazy, I am doing the follow up internal cleanse, which will hit all the other system, liver, gall bladder, bladder, lungs, blood, skin, and um, :scared: possible parasites? They recommend doing the colon cleanse, then breaking for 4 days and then doing the internal cleanse. And that's what I am doing. I consider it a supplement to my healthful efforts and something else to really help keep me focused and on track for the next month. Feel free to ask if you have a specific question that I didn't address. I'm totally willing to share. Obviously, I can talk a lot, my posts always seem to be soo soo long.:lmao:

cool, thanks for all the info:thumbsup2 Mine has a diet with it,so I guess it's not a fasting one? I have been looking into doing a fast as well. I know I'm filled with toxins, maybe not as much as a meat eater as I am a lacto ovo vegetarian. But I'm a high stress person and I'm always sweating so something must be in my sysytem trying to get out. Well let us know how it goes:thumbsup2 You guys are hardcore, very impressive:banana:

Wow, Jmsadams, my good ness you are really dedicated. I've never done a cleanse. I have fasted once and it made me a little mental. Here is a yucky question. What about hemmorrhoids? I have them from labor and delivery. I would think having 3or 4 bm's a day would really get them going? Maybe you don't have that experience. Hopefully not. Glad to hear your workouts are going well too.

I did my step aerobics tape today. And yesterday I went for a 2 mile walk with the kids. Not too brisk, But our road is a steep hill and we did it twice. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

I did my Curves yesterday:cool1:  :woohoo: and tried a protein bar for the first time...blech!:scared: those things are gross! Have a great weekend everyone:thumbsup2
