Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho. It's off to the Grand Floridian We Go! June 2014 (Update: Video)

Yay for meeting Anna and Elsa with little wait. :) Love the notebook and Pickle being so creative. :) And that is too cool about the hidden mickey!!! :yay:

Yeah for having Anna & Elsa FP :thumbsup2

That is a cool hidden Mickey - I hadn't heard of that one before. Definitely cool that so much thought going into the design

Wow! That is such a cool hidden Mickey. We will be there on November 18th!!:cool1::cool1: So now I know we need to ride this that day.
I love Pickle's idea of the art journal. So creative.

Awesome!!! We'll be looking forward to your TR, hoping that it's not raining and that you can get a photo :thumbsup2

Yay for meeting Anna and Elsa and not spending 5 hours in line. Love the notebook and all the drawings.

I was lucky enough to get a Hidden Mickey tour during the NFL previews and the CM pointed out that particular Hidden Mickey...so very cool! Did you see the Hidden Nautilus and Hidden Steamboat Mickey?

Jill in CO

That's cool that you got a Hidden Mickey tour. I missed the nautilus and steamboat mickey's. Oh well, something to look out for next time...

The notebook is pretty cool. Pickle is very creative and spends time every day drawing, coloring, or making some little thing. I didn't know about her sketching her observations in line, so I was surprised when Stephanie showed me. :cool1:

Yeah, Anna & Elsa FP. I guess those wonder twin powers "activate: form of A&E Passes to skip the line" worked after all. :rotfl2:

Day 7 - Monday the 9th - Part 6 - Afternoon Activities

We left off with everyone meeting up at Gaston's to cool off before re-grouping for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. After we all relaxed for a little while, it was time for us to "Heigh-Ho!"

Let's go!

This was our second time riding it. Just as cool as the first time! Hey Princess and Louie, what did you think?

Grins and clapping. I'll take that as a positive review!

Hmm... I love apples (after all I do work for Stark Bro's Nurseries & Orchards Co.), but I think I'll pass on one of these!

After riding 7DMT, it was a little bit past 1pm. The day was really hot and humid, and we had an early morning... so we were all pretty much ready to head back to the Grand Floridian to swim and relax before round two of the birthday party celebration! So we headed back towards the resort.

Pickle got a Mickey balloon on the way out. Love the Frozen balloons! (But happy that Pickle went with a classic Mickey Mouse balloon.)

We stopped by the gift shop to pickup our purchases from Downtown Disney the night before. And started wheeling everything back to the room.

It was nice to take a break from the heat and all the walking, and to recharge before our dinner reservations for Be Our Guest for sometime around 4 or 4:30pm. But before long, it was time to head back to the Magic Kingdom!

I wonder if the Beast will like her shirt?

The pianist was playing while we headed across the lobby. Nice smile.

And it's always fun to stop and look around for the nice Disney touches! I think this was on the floor in front of the elevator.

Of course I wouldn't, but I wanted to get out a sharpie and put an asterisk under the hours. *Only when working.

Luckily, it was indeed working, so no troubles this time!

We hopped off and headed towards the gates!

Buddy and Dewey had fun being "big brothers" to Chip and Dale.

Look at Babie's cute little legs hanging out. LOL.

I actually love the new Magic Band entry system. We never had any troubles with it the whole week. As mentioned earlier in the TR, this is way better than trying to hand out cards to the kids beforehand and then collecting them afterwards.

So, yeah, Pickle is 7 now and rode in a stroller on this trip. I say, who cares! She could indeed walk, but it saves a lot of drama from a little one trying to keep up with the big group... and it's great for balloons, water bottles, snacks, etc. too. This was the last trip where she'll be using it, as we left it at the resort when we headed home. It served us well over the years (we purchased it for Buddy's first trip when he was a baby), but it was about to fall apart.

Oh well, in the mean time.... wanna race?

Getting close now! Hello there Baby!!!

And we made it!!! Yahoo!

My mom got us checked in with the attendant and the rest of us looked for shade.

OK. They are waiving us on across the bridge. Let's go!

The cast members were ready to for us to "be their guests"!

Stay tuned for photos from the inside and our meal :-)

.

Breakfast at Cinderella's Castle and dinner at the Beast's Castle!? That sounds like a perfect birthday!

That would be tempting to write on the monorail sign with the luck you had.

I'd say you got your monies worth from that stroller!

Thanks for pointing out that hidden Mickey in Under the Sea. I'm definitely going to look for that next month! Loved the pics of 7DMT :)

I agree! Big thumbs up on going with a classic Mickey balloon! And I love that they have them in the clear balloons now. I wonder if there is a reason/story behind that or just for an updated look?

Happy to hear the MB worked good all trip! I'm a little nervous about them not working and then missing park time to fix them. (But will have the cards we got from UCT with us just in case!)

Can't wait to see how dinner goes!

I've never heard of a Hidden Mickey tour. That sounds really interesting. I'm afraid I've never spent a lot of time searching for Hidden Mickeys, so, no, I didn't see the others. This particular Hidden Mickey just struck me as being especially cool. When I was in high school, my friends and I used to travel to Cahokia Mounds outside of St. Louis to watch the sunrise during the equinoxes at Woodhenge. I guess this Hidden Mickey strikes the same type of chord in me.

Yes, the little wait was really great! I'm glad we were on the ball about getting FP+'s.

Yeah for having Anna & Elsa FP :thumbsup2

It was fun meeting Anna & Elsa, but I don't know if I'd feel that way if we had to wait 5+ hours. Sometimes the amount of detail the imagineers include is really staggering.

I'm glad you liked the Hidden Mickey. 7DMT is lots of fun, especially if you get to ride with teens--they like to really make the cars swing from side to side. ;)

first time we've seen the magic bands being used for entry - DD has been asking if you still need to use your finger id too - so question answered thank you

Day 7 - Monday the 9th - Part 7 - Be Our Guest

Warning: Lots of food pictures! You may wish to eat before reading!

We were all very excited to be eating at Be Our Guest for dinner. The atmosphere inside this restaurant is really amazing, and even though we'd seen pictures, they didn't really compare to actually being there in person. What a birthday Pickle was having!

After being escorted into the restaurant, we were led to two rather large tables in the grand ballroom, towards the center. We pretty much organized ourselves into a kids table and a grown-up table. Beth, Steve, and I sat with baby, the twins, Buddy, Dewey, and Pickle. The rest of the grown-ups and the teens sat at the other table.

We were greeted with napkins folded like roses.

Hope you're having a great birthday, Pickle! I don't think we're ever going to be able to top this one!

Our servers were attentive and took our orders. DisneMimi had packed up all sorts of little toys and activities to keep Chip and Dale happy at the restaurant. Buddy and Dewey each sat next to one of the twins and tried to entertain them through the wait and the meal. Pickle sat right next to baby and kept her very entertained with Duffy. Once orders were placed, we spent a little time exploring the restaurant. Our first stop was to see the mysterious west wing.

Next up was a quick tour of the Rose Gallery.

All of the dining rooms were beautiful, but it was time to head back to the main ballroom. First up was bread--always a favorite of Buddy's. Be Our Guest kept us well supplied with rolls, which was important to the kids.

Matt started off with the potato leak soup. He let me have a taste, and it was delicious! I was somewhat regretting not ordering it, but I was trying to save room for dessert, so no appetizer for me.

Denise and Beth shared the seasonal salad trio appetizer. It was made up of a roasted beet, golden raisin, and orange salad; green bean, tomato, and roasted shallot salad; and a watermelon, radish, and mint salad. I didn't try this, but Denise and Beth seemed to enjoy it.

Princess ordered an appetizer for her entree. She got the mussels provencal. I believe this is the first time she ate mussels, and she really liked it.

It looks like Huey got something fun to drink, although I'm not sure what it was. My guess is that he had the all natural fruit punch.

I had the salmon on leek fondue with potatoes. It was very good, and I ate every bite. :thumbsup2

One of Matt's favorite foods is scallops, so deciding what to eat wasn't too hard for him. He went with the sautéed shrimp and scallops, which came in a yummy-looking puff pastry. He said it was really good.

Since I was at the kids' table, I'm not really sure who ordered these next two dishes, but I'll post the pictures in case that's helpful to anyone trying to figure out what to eat at Be Our Guest. First up is the braised pork. Next is the thyme-scented pork rack chop.

As our dinner was winding down, an announcement was made that our host would be making his way through the dining room to begin meeting with his guests.

Although everyone was looking forward to meeting the Beast, we still had a few things to do at the table. Once Pickle finished with her fish kid's meal, she wanted to spend some special time with Baby. Pickle's birthday pillow came in handy to keep up her arm to support Baby.

I think she could have held her cousin all evening, but there was some unfinished business to do. Happy birthday, Pickle! And what a day it's been. Hope you like the grey stuff.

Time for dessert! This is what I was really looking forward to, as I have read great things about the cupcakes at Disney World. Even though I was expecting good things, I had no idea that I was about to eat the best. cupcake. EVER.

Oh yeah!!!! Obviously, I went with the strawberry cream cheese cupcake. It had a little chocolate decoration on top, but Pickle got to that too fast. And I couldn't resist the birthday girl, could I? Now, I like cupcakes alright, but they're not usually my favorite. This, however, was amazing. Pickle decided she wanted one, too, but only ate half. Well, you know, I didn't have that potato leek soup earlier, and I couldn't let half of the best cupcake ever go to waste, so well....

Matt thought his dessert was amazingly good. As if! It wasn't the strawberry cream cheese cupcake now, was it? (As I'm typing this, he just told me, "It was incredible.")

Well, it did look pretty good. I believe our server called it the "grey stuff" brownie.

After stuffing ourselves silly, it was time to greet the master.

Thank you, Mr. Beast, sir, for our culinary cabaret! I think we might have to see you again the next time we're in town. :wave2:

I'm hoping we can get a fast pass to lunch in January, but you're making me want to try for dinner! That looked so amazing!

Your dinner looks amazing! We couldn't get a dinner reservation last trip and never made it for lunch so I can't wait to try Be Our Guest! :)

What a great birthday!! :thumbsup2 I haven't gotten to eat dinner at BOG yet, only lunch, but that pork chop looks SO GOOD. Even with three lunches at BOG, I haven't gotten to try the grey stuff yet; I always forget! Still trying to get in for dinner on our next trip, so maybe I'll order it then; if not, I know we'll do lunch there, even if I can't get a FP+ for it again!

What a great ending to Pickle's birthday! The food looked great. Love the picture of Pickle holding the baby!

It was really good, but I'm sure lunch would be great, too.

The grey stuff is yummy. Hopefully next time you'll get to try it, although I'm rather partial to the strawberry cream cheese cupcake. ;)

It was quite the birthday! I was a little worried that maybe we were trying to do too much all in one day, but that wasn't a problem at all. I like that picture, too. They grow up way too fast.

-Stephanie

Awesome BOG update! Pickle and baby are so cute together. I'm one of the oldest cousins of a very large family so I remember the anticipation of being able to hold the babies.

What a wonderful meal!! So my main reason to go to BOG is to try the grey stuff! But I may just have to get the strawberry cupcake to go now! :goodvibes

Wow, I need to make sure Olivia never reads this report b/c I don't think we could ever match that birthday for Pickle - wow ... and I love that you could tell even with all that went on one of the highlights was getting to hold her baby cousin.

The meal really does look good and glad it met your expectations/hopes. Their cupcakes definitely to live up to the hype
