Hello everybody!

We are still coming into London for the Jul 20th Harry Potter parties. I have myself and two teen boys booked at the Holiday Inn Mayfair and I'm trying to figure out how we will get from Heathrow Airport to our hotel. We will be arriving fairly early in the morning. I hope to be able to make our way into London, maybe eat, and then catch a little bit of sleep before we head out to the festivities.

Could somebody explain to me such things as Oyster Cards, Heathrow Express, and how I'm going to accomplish this? Can I order these things in advance?

The Heathrow Express is the easiest, quickest and more expensive option. there are ticket kiosks before the station and basically you get your ticket and get on and 15 minutes later you are at Paddington. Check out www.heathrowexpress.co.uk I think you can even buy tickets online there.

You can buy Oyster Cards at Heathrow but Heathrow Tube station always has very long lines. check out http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/oysteronline/2732.aspx

I'd get the Heathrow Express. That will take you straight from the airport to London Paddington in just 15 minutes. I use it regularly, and the trains are very modern and virtually always on time. From Paddington you can easily get a cab or the underground to your hotel.
