Well, I rent. Im just currious if theres somthing simple I can do before I whine to the landlord. The heat went on today. In two rooms. The two bedrooms and bath heaters diddnt go on. Theres dails on the wall but the landlord told me those didnt matter for anything. The heat says its 68 in the living room but its freezing cold in here. Im cuddled up in a quilt with just head and hands out and im still cold. Is there a simple reason it dosent read right? Its one of those all digital things. You press buttons to move the heat up or down.

It sounds like you have electric heat and those dials on the wall control the temperature in each room. Turn them to whatever temp you want in each room and the heat should come on.

I have those heat things that stick off the side of the wall. I was told those dials wernt important. Hummm have to tinker with that. Mabey thats why it was so cold last winter. That doesnt really explain why the heat thing says it 68 in the living room (where the heat is on) and its still freezing.

I'd call the landlord and ask him to show you how to work the thermostat. If it doesn't work properly and he can't show you how to make it reasonably warm in all the rooms in your apartment, I'd tell him you're putting the rent in an escrow account until the problems are fixed.

the landlords out of town (AGAIN) and unreachable. It was cold in here last year too but its a ton colder this year. I think im gonna get thermal curatins for the patio door since thats in the living room and a airconditioner cover (to block the air)

easy there liberty belle. now you are going to have to explain escrow account.

Kris- that was rude. I know what an escrow account is thank you. I came here to ask becuase the landlord was out of town and I didnt want to have to bother her. I figured out the problem which had NOTHING to do with the little knobs. It had to do with the central controll swicth.

Do you mean a radiator?

Im pretty sure there called basebord heaters. Im not sure what there actully called cause this the first aparment that I have had that has had them. I soved problem so all is good.

Totally off topic (sorry), but I've noticed from your other planning threads and your signature that you have two younger sisters, 9 and 10. Then I noticed your tag:scared1:. Do you have an older sister, too?

Just curious!:goodvibes

Wow that didn't take long. Its a shame you spent all last winter cold when it only took a few minutes to fix the problem.

I've wondered that too! :goodvibes It seems a bit odd that a 9 or 10 year old would have boys boxers stapled to her ceiling.

My tag, that ones been explained before. My best freind is like a sister to me and I call her my sister too so thats where the tag come from.

Oh, I see. I wasn't curious enough to actually read all your previous posts, but I get it now. ;) I'm glad it's not your little sister.

Just in case it causes confusion in the future - the little "sisters" are cousins. At least, in previous posts the OP referred to them as the daughter's of her aunt.

Glad you got the heat worked out - 68 actually doesn't sound all that warm to me anyway.

Its a simple story. MY aunt helped raise me, now My mom is doing the same. The kids have awalys been like sisters to. Sorry for cofusing everyone. Ill just edit my siguniture.

No need to do that.

I have (or had, rather) and Aunt Doris and an Aunt Mildred who were really my grandmother's cousins, but her mother raised her when her mom died. I also have a niece who is not really my niece, but my parents took her mother (my then best friend) in when her mom kicked her out.

As far as my tag goes my "sister" knows about it and thinks its great. She hangs out on this board too.
