Just got this in my Rapid Rewards email. Seems that they are adding some new flights this autumn:

-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Orlando and Raleigh-Durham (for a total of two)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Orlando and Providence (for a total of five)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Orlando and Buffalo (for a total of two)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Ft. Lauderdale and Baltimore/Washington (for a total of five)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Ft. Lauderdale and Long Island/Islip (for a total of three)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Phoenix and Indianapolis (for a total of two)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Phoenix and Oakland (for a total of seven)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Phoenix and Sacramento (for a total of seven)
-- Two additional daily nonstop flights between San Diego and Oakland (for a total of 17)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between San Diego and Sacramento (for a total of 14)

Beginning October 4, 2004:

-- One new daily nonstop flight between Houston Hobby and Oakland
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Houston Hobby and Chicago Midway (for a total of four)
-- One additional daily nonstop flight between Orlando and Hartford (for a total of three)
-- Two additional daily nonstop flights between Orlando and St. Louis (for a total of five)

I know we will greatly appreciate the additional flight between Orlando and Providence.

One of these days, I hope SWA adds non-stop service between DTW and MCO. And while I am wishing, I hope that SWA would add curbside check-in at DTW!

Until then, I will be content to stop over in Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis or a combination of any of the above! Even with two-stops and layovers, SWA is the best thing out of DTW.

I agree with Pinnie. So hoping that someday SWA will fly NONSTOP from Detroit to Orlando. That would be so great. We went via SWA in February and had to stop in St. Louis. We didn't have to change planes, but it sure would be nice to go non-stop.

I dont know exactly where in Michigan you are but we are flying out of Flint on Northwest directly to MCO and the fare was 196.00. The flight leaves every morning at 810am and gets to MCO at 1049am and returns everyday leaving MCO at 1130am and back into Flint at 210pm.

Fares are cheaper out of Flint usually so we fly out of there. Just a thought as the convienience of a nonstop flight is great!

Thanks for the idea chicknoodle99. I live right off I 275 just 15 minutes from DTW. Since I often fly alone. I prefer NOT having to drive all the way to Flint by myself, especially that early in the a.m.

But I will keep it in mind.

They have curbside check in at DTW. They did a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the information!! We will be using SWA out of PVD in November on a NON-STOP flight!! Where did you get this information as I would like to look at the time of the new NON-STOP flight.

Thanks,
Lisa

She got it from her weekly newsletter.

::yes:: ::yes:: Every Tuesday morning, rain or shine, I have my SWA newsletter in my inbox.

:teeth:

I just checked on that NWA non-stop flight from Flint to MCO for Presidents' Week next year. Right now that flight is $712 per person!!!!! I don't think NW is going to sell too many of those seats at that price. When it comes down $500, I'm in!

I had that problem a while back with NWA but found when it so early that the fares will go down again. Like I said, last week I paid 196.00 per person for those flights in Sept so they should go down again. Keep checking...usually 6months out they will lower again...that is my experience anyway. Good luck!

If I only read her post again I would have known where she got the information!! I get the SWA e-mail on Tuesdays too but DH reads it and never said anything about them adding an extra flight. I did find it on their website though.

Hey thanks for the information though!!

chickennoodle99 don't you love that NWA out of Flint. We got our roundtrip for $176 7/10-7/20. I also checked and they had fares as low as $165 for August (I was checking for SIL).

I never found a good deal with SW.

that is a shame. I have only had delays and changes with NWA.

Amen.

I had one flight on NWA that was delayed for 2 hours because a seat cushion was "missing". Turns out the flight wasn't even 1/2 full and the whole row was empty.

Needless to say I ONLY fly them when I need to go somewhere that SWA doesn't fly to. Yet. ;)
