HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

We have to vacation over Christmas break due to school/work/sports schedules, and I really wanted to sail the Magic. So I changed our now Wonder 5-night to the 12/21 Magic 7-night. 2 cabins, 1A 1C in each, $3019 x2 (that sounds better than $6038, doesn't it?) It actually only increased $419/per person for the extra two days, which I didn't think was terrible.

That's great it was only $419 per person for 2 extra days!! That's what I was expecting for our cruise but i was wrong. Our Thanksgiing Cruise would be $850 more per each adult and $580 more for each child if we wanted to changed from the 5 day to the 7 day. We are going to cancel now since we wanted to be on the Magic. I'm glad it wasn't that much for you!

We have put in our request to our TA to book the San Juan to PC 3-night repo on 10/18/14, which she said we can book June 18th. I hope it's not a high priced cruise!!!!!

We did this last night too. I emailed our TA and she phoned DCL who said it can't be booked until the 18th. She will phone back then and try to get us into the same stateroom as we're in for the preceding Southern Caribbean cruise.

Interesting that although DCL haven't confirmed this cruise, they are telling TAs that it can be booked from the 18th.

Sane as us; hope to get same stateroom. It will be nice to make it a 10-night Southern/repo cruise!!! VERY excited. Can't wait. I think it's going to be popular.... Hope I'm not priced out!!!

They aren't? :confused3 My TA got a quote from DCL for it -- $1090 for two adults, w/ OBB, category 7A.

Same here!

We did a rough calculation last night taking into account the cost of transport to San Juan airport, airfares from San Juan to Orlando, 3 nights WDW hotel accommodation and 3 days car hire, to see what the 3-night cruise would 'save' us. That's our starting point. Then of course the cruise includes food. It also gives us a day in San Juan so we don't need as much time there before the cruise, another saving.

We won't have to waste a day travelling from San Juan to Orlando which, although it doesn't have a direct financial saving in itself, has to be worth something in the equation.

And I've just realised that perhaps I shouldn't be posting this in case it gives DCL the idea of bumping the cost up! :worried:

It's a pity they didn't offer this cruise when they first offered the Southern Caribbean ones. We got the OBB discount and OBC for the Southern Caribbean but won't get anything for this one.

Except an extra 3 nights on the Magic and one less flight. :woohoo:

Those ships dates haven't been released to the public yet. They are holding them for those of us that had our previously booked cruises changed. They are letting us make any changes we want to make before they release them to everyone.

So, did I make a mistake by cancelling our 11/13/2014 Dream cruise that was moved to October, rather than trying to reschedule? Could I have booked a cruise on either the Magic or Wonder that hasn't publicly been released?

There's probably nothing to be done now, but I did feel surprised that people were canceling cruises without waiting to call the number given to us. I figured a regular rep wasn't going to have all the tools at hand to help, while there might have been more offered if we waited.

Of course I had nothing offered, since the change was peachy with us.

I just got off the phone with DCL (which incidentally had a real person answer on the 3rd ring with no hold time at all).:cloud9:

You called the special number? Pretty cool, eh? I'm not even sure it rang *once* when I called.

I had booked through Costco and called them. The lady I spoke with called Disney and then came back to me to say we had been switched to October. She didn't mention anything about rescheduling to something that wasn't publicly available. I just cancelled since I knew we couldn't go in October and didn't have another cruise in mind that would work for us. I guess I should have just left the reservation as is.

Thanks.

A travel agent commented on Scott's blog that she booked this cruise for a client yesterday, so it is definitely official.

Changed our 5 night Nov2014 Magic from Miami to the 5 night Magic 21 Oct leaving PC.

5B - 2A2C went from $2780 to $3511 :sad2:
Never been to Key West so something new.

We got a quote for 2A1C for $2600 (cat 5 and includes obd) which is about $500 more than our Nov2014 Dream sailing would have been. Hoping switching categories brings it down just a little lower, and we'll probably switch into this too.

I am thinking the 5 night Magic from PC on Oct 21st 2014 is going to fill up quickly as all subsequent cruises are 7 nights.
Those extra 2 nights can really add up.

Still can't find a cruise to switch to. The only Magic cruise that works (aside from Thanksgiving ) is a 3 night in May.

There isn't a guarantee, but I would call DCL and explain to them exactly this. They may be able to reinstate your reservation, maybe not, but you won't know unless you ask. :)

I just got the quote from the TA about switching our 5-night Thanksgiving cruise from Miami to the the 7-night Thanksgiving from PC. There is a price difference of about $1300 for the same room category. That seems a little steep to me for 2 additional nights. I told her "no thanks. We will stick with one we have." For that money, we can add 2 nights at the Wilderness Lodge when we get back.

How many and what category? If mine was that much more I might consider it. Mine was a little more then $2600.
