HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

No OB credit for the change. For us to move back to the Magic for the week of Thanksgiving the cost is $6328 for a Cat 5B. That is with the 10% OBB discount.

I guess we won't be keeping that reservation either:sad2:

Maybe we will sail RCCL.

Nothing wrong with RCCL, IMO. We're doing one this January, as a matter of fact!

I would really like to voice my disapproval about this. It seems an awful lot like bait and switch. We booked the Magic after they released the info about the refurb. We got a great price. Then they give us the old ship or the ability to pay an additional $3000. Anyone know who to call?

I would just like to remind you that you are going by information given to you by your TA who didn't even know she would be able to call them for you today. Is there any way for you to check on your own? It's possible you can't, because they are holding back cruises *for us* for booking, and since you would be calling on your own instead of through your TA you probably can't. But...just try to make sure your TA is giving you the correct information this time? And I was going to say to call Disney, but you went through a TA so you're not going to be able to access changes, since you aren't the owner of your reservation. Frustrating.

As nervous as I was when I first opened this thread (before it even included the Dream in the title!), I do have to say that they are giving us a year and 3 months notice on this, which is pretty amazing. I do recognize that we are in a lucky position of having a husband who is allowed to take proper vacations without major wrangling, and not being on a school schedule because we homeschool, but still, that's a LOT of notice for changes.

I agree that the price difference is insane. We were looking at a $2,000 difference to add those extra two nights. There's just no way. Interestingly, though, I asked about the Dream cruise on Halloween, and that one was actually $600 less than the one we were originally booked on when I started planning this cruise. That price is actually kind of tempting, even though we didn't want to go back to the Bahamas. So that may actually be an option. Otherwise, we will cancel and either sail Royal Caribbean or wait and see if there are any better options in 2015, especially if they ever revamp the Wonder.

ETA: I just checked online, and the Fantasy cruise on Nov. 1 is basically the same price as the Magic cruise we were looking at on Nov. 2. Anyone else curious if they're going to have a hard time filling those cruises? November isn't a hugely popular time to sail, is it?

We had booked the Dream 11/13-17 for the double-dip at CC. I'm now looking at other options as we can only sail in November.

When I go to the site and select November 2014, only the Dream and Fantasy are shown as options. So, the other two ships aren't sailing anywhere that month, or have their cruises just not been release yet?

Also, the Dream doesn't start sailing until 11/17. Am I correct that is because it will be in dry dock?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Those ships dates haven't been released to the public yet. They are holding them for those of us that had our previously booked cruises changed. They are letting us make any changes we want to make before they release them to everyone.

I just called DCL and rebooked the Magic out of PC for Oct 21, 2014. I picked a 5 night cruise, CC,Nassau,KeyWest, Sea Day....... They said that my date for Oct 21, 2014
is not available to the public yet since they are working on any reservations made by cruisers who chose the Magic and were changed to the Wonder for 4th qtr 2014.

If they were doing this with the 2013 cruises, I would guess they would be including an OBC. Since the cruises are over a year out, I doubt they would consider that.

We had booked the 11/13/14 Dream double dip that was changed to 10/23/14. My TA called DCL with questions and was told that they are not offering any compensation for the date change. :sad1: That would have been nice!

I said the Magic not the Wonder.
5 night Bahamian Cruise Oct 21, 2014 to Oct 26, 2014 (Mon to Sat)
That's why they are letting the folks that originally booked the Magic for the 4th quarter 2014 a chance to pick a Magic cruise the other choice was to remain on the Wonder out of Miami. When I booked onboard, I picked the Magic then DCL changed the routes.
Update:
2A Cat 10A SPH cruise & tax only $1729.70 5 night cruise out of Port Canaveral 10/21/2014 Magic

I just got off the phone with DCL (which incidentally had a real person answer on the 3rd ring with no hold time at all).:cloud9:
I moved our 11/5/14 4-nt sailing to a 11/2/14 Western 7-nt. I got our desired cabins and PC is so much easier than Miami.

My 4nt from Miami was a dummy date that I moved to Nov b/c at least that date is a possibility. I wasn't really planning another 7nt & may need to cancel if ds16 wants to visit colleges but it wasn't a lot of extra deposit.
I'll sleep on it a while & see what the family thinks. We have til Aug 2014 to decide. :thumbsup2

$4533 for 2a, 2c (category 9c) on magic out of port canaveral over thanksgiving 2014. The one out of Miami is about $2800. Both these prices include my OBB discount. I think I'll stay on the 5 night Miami thanksgiving cruise.

The prices for the Magic are insane!

December 21 Magic - 10A 2A = $4349.90
December 20 Fantasy - 10A 2A = $3751.64

Seriously DCL?

I did speak to a lovely supervisor at DCL, who tried earnestly to find us a cruise. The only she she could come up with was the first week of school or other off peak times. She said that they are definitely pricing the Magic higher then the Fantasy since it will essentially be a newer ship.

That's just BS! Not sure I can post that? The Fantasy has been overpriced. Now they think they can up the prices on the Magic after installing a couple slides & redecorating a bit? I guess we won't cruise on the Magic again until reality hits the fan and prices go back down.

We are also 2a, 2c and took a 7nt cruise over Thanksgiving 2008 in a 9c. We booked almost 2 yrs in advance (Feb 2007) & with OBB discount it was just under $4000. We really enjoyed it and priced it again for the following year and it was closer to $6k. :rolleyes1

Since our kids are not so little, ds16's feet hang over the little bunk beds, we get 2 cabins & our new date is 11/2/14. Prices include OBB discount.
2 in cat 7A: $2647.50
2 in cat 11B: $2067.80
Total: $4715.13
I don't know. I think I need to sleep on it.

I'd love to cruise over Christmas break but there's just no way I can justify those prices. :sad2:

We've sailed RCCL and my kids have begged to stay with DCL after I started looking at NCL.

Wow. I can't believe they're pricing the Magic higher than the Fantasy. I was thinking 15% less. I was going to switch from the Dec 27 Fantasy to the Dec 28 Magic, but not if its more expensive.

This sounds like a perfect cruise for us. We are planning another land sea vacation at this time. I was thinking the 23rd on the Dream, but this would be even better. I would love to see key west.

How was the price????

We have to vacation over Christmas break due to school/work/sports schedules, and I really wanted to sail the Magic. So I changed our now Wonder 5-night to the 12/21 Magic 7-night. 2 cabins, 1A 1C in each, $3019 x2 (that sounds better than $6038, doesn't it?) It actually only increased $419/per person for the extra two days, which I didn't think was terrible.

Price is not bad with the 10% onboard booking discount and $100 obc.
