HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

Just called the DCL number from the e-mail they sent regarding new sail dates. I think I was on hold for all of 2 minutes. I was able to change our sail date with no problem. We were originally scheduled for November 13, 2014 and they moved us to October 23, 2014. We are trying to work this cruise around the Disney Wine & Dine half-marathon weekend so we moved it to November 10, 2014. We are hoping the marathon will be on the weekend of November 8th. If all works out we will be very happy.

Is this on the Dream or Magic/Wonder?

Have you contacted your DU agent to inform them that others are in fact making their changes today for the Dream? They need to call about your reservation tomorrow for the Magic/Wonder.

I did. I am hoping she will call tomorrow, but I think she thinks I am just a bit obsessive:rotfl:

Well, considering the fact that she told you yesterday nothing could be done with your reservation until the 18th, she should be thanking you for pointing out that she could take care of her customers today & tomorrow and not put them in with the new cruisers who will be trying to make new reservations that day. Glad that I noticed your post and said something. :) This one has been really confusing.

Now all of this us for naught if Disney jacks up rhe price too high.

Seriously! Maybe people should start a thread posting the prices they have gotten on the new cruises so others will know if they should bother checking into it on the 18th.

I had to pay $100 extra to change to the Nov 10th date. If we were to stay on the October 23rd date that they placed us on after canceling the Nov 13th sail date, it would not have been any extra.

So, I've just read this entire thread. I want to make sure I understand it all correctly. I have never cruised DCL, and coincedently, was on DCL site today looking for cruises, having no idea all this was going on.

I posted a thread a few hours ago asking some of these same questions, but no responses yet.

I understand the Magic is currently in Europe, and in a few weeks, will be getting her big make over before returning to the US. From reading this post, I understand she was originally scheduled to return to Miami, FL. However, the Dream will be going through a shorter dry dock, so the Magic is being moved to PC, instead. Therefore, bringing the Wonder to Miami. Is this all correct so far? :confused3

Currently in the DCL site, Wonder only has 3 sailings out of Florida fall of 2014, ending early-sih October. This was due to the supposed dry dock for the Wonder, which is now being post-poned, correct? Meaning, in a few days time (hopefully), more Wonder sailings out of Miami will be opening up? :confused3

I am asking this, because I am very interested in sailing on the Wonder before her major make over, I want to see her while she is still in her classic form. I do not care which port. I am currently considering this fall out of Texas (unlikely), early 2014 from Miami (slightly more likely), or, fall 2014 out of PC (currently only 3 sailings, so makes it tough). I am not interested in any of the West Coast itineraries, currently, although, West Coast would make it sooo much easier on us. Is it possible that the early 2014 Wonders from Miami would be changing ports? I would like to make PC work, so we can combine with a theme park visit. But, I am wondering if the current PC sailings are changing to Miami??

Thanks for your help!!:cutie:
I need DCL for dummies!! :rotfl:

You are correct on what you said. Nice reading comprehension,

The early 2014 Wonder & Magic cruises should remain unaffected, so you could probably safely book a cruise in the Wonder. If you are looking towards end of the year 2014, wait until all changes have been made to the guests' reservations in question (after June 18 )to book.

That is interesting. The sailing on the 23rd is also a 4-night, right? We were moved into the Nov 10th sailing automatically (from the prior Nov 9th sailing). I'm not sure it's exactly what we want, but may keep it as is for now, because we may ultimately move it to 2015. It's hard to pick a different itinerary when I can't see them online or see prices. I might see if my TA can price out the 3 day after this sailing though....maybe we'll turn it into a B2B.

I've been trying to find a cruise on the Magic, December 2014/Jan 2015. So far I cant find anything offered on the Magic on any dates in Dec 2014. Is this due to the new makeover? Are they waiting to post dates and itineraries? I did call the Disney Cruise Co the other day and the CM I spoke with said the new dates/sailings will be coming out June 12 (today), but so far I dont see anything on their website.
Does anyone have any info re sailings for end of Dec 2014 on the Magic?

Thanks,

Karen :)

Rumors on the Wonder from CMs say it's not getting any changes until after the canal locks are finished. This makes sense, specially if DCL continues to Alaska in 2015.

I can't see this as anything more than a rumour. Having just sailed through the Panama Canal on the Wonder in May, I can tell you that the new locks WILL NOT be finished in 2015. They were originally planned for 2014/2015 however, they are at least two to three years behind schedule. CM's and my own eyes told me it will be at least 2017 or 2018 before the new locks open. Disney cannot push the Wonder's makeover that far out. However, only one part of what we currently suspect to be the makeover for the Wonder would affect a canal passage in the current locks, that is the stern duck tail. This is only being added to the Magic to increase efficiency and reduce fuel costs. There is no reason that the Wonder couldn't get the same or similar changes without the Duck Tail and still get through the current locks.

They may be delaying the Wonder's makeover, but I seriously doubt that the new locks are any part of the plans.

Did I notice someplace there was new policy about changing cruise dates. Using TA ???

We are not affected by change, but are wanting to move to a longer cruise, different ship a week earlier may 2014

Only cruisers who were already booked on cruises affected by the change were able to make changes yesterday for the Dream and today for the Magic/Wonder. Everyone else will be able to book those cruises starting on the 18th.

A TA posted a blog recently saying that you could only move an OBB one time. This is NOT true. The latest official change is that you have to transfer it to a TA within 30 days of the original booking.

There is a glitch in the system which is not showing the Thanksgiving cruise on the Magic ( of course the one that I want):confused3. Hopefully they will get it fixed. All other Magic dates are in, I believe.

Anyone called and received an OBC for the change? I'm thinking we will keep the oct 23rd dream cruise but our party is super bummed cause it was going to be around 3 birthdays and now its 3 weeks before. I'm just thinking they should give us something to make up for the changes. (Am I greedy??)

pirate:

No OB credit for the change. For us to move back to the Magic for the week of Thanksgiving the cost is $6328 for a Cat 5B. That is with the 10% OBB discount.

I guess we won't be keeping that reservation either:sad2:

Maybe we will sail RCCL.
