Here it is... My ds begged to bring long term gf on our upcoming trip. We agreed, I went for a two bedroom villa at blt ( 2 boys in pullout and chair bed and 2 girls in 2 queen room. I have 160 points per year, so I used 2014,2015 and about 77 points from 2016... To get the extra space for one week with plans of buying more points within the year.
He just announced they are breaking up.
If I understand correctly- if I scale back to a one bedroom the points now freed up must be used by 2015? They can't go back into my account correct, even though they were borrowed from 2016?
Any ideas!??
Besides adr changes, flight cancellation..at least it is before my 60 day fast pass selections!

Thanks for any help! This is crazy!

Might want to see if they get back together..... ;)

But as Bill said if there is availability for a 1BR you can cancel the 2BR and rebook the 1BR with your banked 2014 points and your borrowed 2016 points and then bank your 2015 points.

Thanks guys- even if they get back together (which my son says no) the relationship is compromised and she would be in all of our family photos and memories so it might not be a good thing.
We are right now an ever other year family....so I might bank the extra points and sell them using the $$ towards my DVC resale purchase of more points or.....downgrade to a 1 bedroom and get an MK view with those points? (right now we are lake view)

Opinions?? :magnify:

Well he has 2 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days to find another girlfriend. "Hey babe, come on a little trip with me & I'll treat you like a princess."

He is breaking up with her, no wooing on his part wanted!!:rolleyes1
My pressure is figuring out: the flight, ADRs, and room size.... My fast pass+ day is May 16.... Also magic band shipped mid June....all must be adjusted, plus can I just put the 8 day parkhopper ticket on hold till our next trip in 2017?
You plan, plan, plan, then plan some more then up goes the applecart!:rolleyes2
I do love planning, but not pressure planning!!! What to do?:scared:

Skip it....nothing else available room wise, I checked 1 bedroom MK view at BLT, then checked BLT 1 bedroom lake view etc. all different options, even poly studio...nothing available at that time... So my initial question is answered from a higher authority!!! Anybody want to come to disney with me!! LOL
Guess we will have alot of space this trip!!!
Thanks again...now to deal with flight, tickets, ADR etc!!:tiptoe:

For ADR's really no reason to adjust unless you really feel the need. When you check in just explain that you have one less. Flight? Only option is to cancel but often the credit is only useable by the person it was booked for unless it's SWA. And the other hopper? Just save it for a later trip.

You also could waitlist for a 1BR - just set it up for 30 days prior and check online to see if it fills. I don't always get an email when the change is made - in fact only once have I gotten an email for the change. LV 1BR will be more likely than MK view but you could try both. And in removing the girlfriend from the reservation it will change the MB's to be sent.

Otherwise, just enjoy the extra room! :)

yes...MB!!! Forgot about those, but that is in June....May fastpass+ is first on my list. The flight/ticket is in her name, I am hoping Jet Blue could somehow let us use it for something else. I am also bummed because she was a Disney fan which is always so important for a match!! LOL I hope he finds the next GF to be just as excited about Disney as he is!!!

On the waitlist topic...if I were to waitlist they would automatically change it if it comes up? I meanwhile put out feelers to other family members to see if anyone wants to "visit" to at least try to use the extra room!!!

Yes, if the waitlist matches then they will automatically fill it. You would want to double check that they used the banked and borrowed points but most CM's are pretty good about that however mistakes do happen. If you set it up to cancel 30 days out then if it does fill the extra points will be returned as regular points that you can bank otherwise if you selected it to go to 7 days then they would be in holding. Holding points would still would be an option for you to rent out but personally I'd prefer just to use the larger 2BR ourselves rather than do that.

My husband and I go with our two sons (17 and 24) and we do a two bedroom each time. You will love the space!! It will make you for sure want to purchase more points so you can always have that extra space!!

Is this new? I've never been able to use credits from a canceled ticket to buy someone else's ticket on SWA. At least not online.

Keep in mind that the waitlist scenario will only work if you can still bank those points. So if you have a Sept, Oct UY there's no point in waitlisting.

And you should be able to reassign the park tickets right now on MDE.

Maybe I'm incorrect on the SWA but I thought that I had used credits from a cancelled trip of mine towards travel of someone else. I was thinking it's just a dollar amount back to your account. Anything I did was online but it's been a little while so maybe I'm confusing and just used it myself.

For banking - every UY can still bank 2015 points - some haven't even started that UY yet. Feb would be the earliest for a deadline but that would be Sept and after this trip.

I did a quick look at SWA's FAQ's and it still appears that credits could be used by anyone and done online:

"Unused Ticketless Travel Funds: Southwest Airlines accepts unused Ticketless Travel Funds for Passenger travel on Southwest Airlines or for flights on codeshare partners purchased through Southwest Airlines, excluding Southwest Airlines Group Reservations. Unused TIcketless Travel funds may be redeemed at southwest.com, through Southwest Airlines Reservations, and at Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter locations."

You used to be able to use them on other people but no longer. Now it had to be used by the person whos name was on the ticket

Ah, ok. It's getting hard to keep up with all the changes airlines are making so not surprised. :(

I went for a two bedroom villa at blt ( 2 boys in pullout and chair bed and 2 girls in 2 queen room.

I assume you and DH are in the main bedroom?

So switch it to the boys in the 2Q room and the lone girl in the living room, and you guys still in the main bedroom.

Losing one person from the reservation doesn't necessarily mean a lot of space. :)

Not going to happen.

If you had a fully refundable ticket, you likely could have used the money. If it was a few years ago, you could have used it. But not now or with a ticket where you just get the funds in your account, not an actual refund.

Is this for cash only? What if you made the reservation using reward points?

Laura
I just canceled a ticket made with RR points. They go right back to where they came from, nothing connecting them with the ticketed person. The $5.60 tax is another story. You have the option of asking for a refund or getting a credit. I didn't realize this until I canceled the return flight. I guess they treat the tax differently and I was able to get the $5.60 refunded to my credit card. Now I just have the $5.60 credit from the going flight that expires Jan 2016.
