:wave2: My DD is turning 13 in two weeks and she's decided on a hawaiian themed party. I'd love some ideas to add to our agenda. We're having standard cookout fare (dogs, burgers, salads). I'm also making a fruit salad (acine de pepe yummy) and serving chunks of pineapple to dip in warm caramel ('Ohana anyone?:)). I've bought a ton of plastic leis and tiki torches. I'm trying to find an inflatable palm tree to borrow. We've got water balloon games planned, moonbounce for the younger kids coming, a hula hoop game, trying to find some coconuts for races, and we're making koozy cup holders with luau foam stickers for everyone to take home. I'm considering a pinata but it depends on how much I spend on the food, as I've already spent a small fortune on decorations and favors. I'm expecting around 20 or so kids and around the same # of adults.

Anyone else have more ideas or tips I haven't thought of? I love parties and want my DD to have a magical 13th birthday! Thanks everyone :cheer2:

do you have access to a snowcone machine? shaved ice is good! how about hula dance lesson? lilo & stitch soundtrack & movie...or hawaiian music in the back ground. a real flower lei from your local flower shop for your daughter would be special! are you guests coming in hawaiian attire? fun, fun, fun!! i'm sure others will have more... :flower:

Grass skirts to wear
Limbo
Hawaiian music in background
Encourage guests to wear tropical shirts/shorts
Chicken terryaki skewers (like at Chinese restaurants)
Fruits--watermelon, grapes, cantalope
Travel posters of Hawaii

have fun!

Thanks for the replies :) I put on the invitation to wear your favorite tropical clothes. I like the Lilo & Stitch idea. And the real flower lei for Jessica - love that idea!!! Thank you!

I just got back from Garden Ridge and they had a ton of cool luau themed party stuff 75% off :Pinkbounc including a couple grass skirts! I got more decorations including a big palm tree. She is going to be so excited when she gets home from school :goodvibes I also got adorable candles for 3-10 cents a piece!!!!

Michael's has their summer craft project things (the foamy stuff) 90% off...they had some Hawaiian/Luau themed things that may interest you.

THANK YOU! I knew I should have gone there this morning instead of taking a nap LOL I'll head there later - I need some more of the koozy cup holders if they still have them

In the Target dollar bins they have cute Hawaiian themed items. Straws, lei's, stir sticks, and these cute little pineapple cups. Other items, but I forget? :confused3 Sounds like a great party plan.
