In the onboard gifts section Hawaii is listed again. Is this new or was that still on there from 2015 cruises.

If it is, I hope that they do it round trip again. The first one was amazing. I didn't go the next time as I enjoyed the round trip.

I vote for round trips, also. But, I'm thinking that they'll most likely do the one way Vancouver/Hawaii cruises again.

While I'm not sure they sold very well, I think they did better than the round trips.

I like round trips too but Disney wants their cruise passengers to stay at Aulani either before or after their cruise.

I think it is just a mistake. I also see Venice as an option for a port. However, there are no cruise starting in Venice at the moment and since summer 2018 was already announced, I don't think any are coming. It appears that for some reason someone has forgotten to put some ports on "inactive". The for 2018 new port of Rome is actually missing from that list. That leads me to believe it is an old list and not a list of things to come.

Oh I agree. I don't see a round trip happening.

Of course! I knew that was their intention last time. But seriously, a wise business decision for them.

They sold very badly. They were almost giving them away to cast members. At my table was a cast member and he told me what they paid. I said what they paid one time but some people didn't like that I told what they paid. It was cheap.

I'm with you. Los Angeles is also listed and there are no cruises in or out of there currently (nor have there been for quite some time).

US maritime law makes Hawaii sailings... interesting. Basically, because DCL is not a US-flagged carrier (they're Bahamas-flagged), they have 2 options: either do a so-called "closed loop" cruise (e.g. Seattle/San Francisco to Hawaii and back) or 2 one-way cruises originating outside the US (i.e. Vancouver.) What they can't do is go from one US port to another US port without stopping in a "distant foreign port" (which they do on Panama Canal repositioning cruises.) Unfortunately, this also involves back-to-back. For the 2015 Hawaii cruises, a number of people wanted to go Hawaii - Vancouver - San Diego (2 separate itineraries) but were not permitted to due to this law.

Complicating matters further is the fact that Hawaii to Vancouver is about 5 days by sea, so a closed-loop cruise is going to be a 14-night cruise minimum. DCL will do a handful of long cruises like that, but they're harder to sell, especially if they happen when school is in session (i.e. at the end of the Alaskan cruise season.)

I think Aulani did very well on the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise in 2015. We were at Aulani for 5 days prior to the cruise and didn't find the resort overcrowded at all.
But let me tell on the morning of the cruise where we met the DCL transfer there were a ton of people waiting to board those buses.
I'm sure Aulani did good with people coming into Honolulu from Vancouver on the first cruise as well.

Yes aulani did very well because of the one way Hawaii cruises. But DCL did very bad. Almost giving them away to cast members

We were on RCCL Vancouver to Honolulu in 2015, our cruise followed DCL's by 4 nights. We were with 2 other couples and I just could not justify asking them to pay DCL's prices. However, I was concerned because I wanted to book a week in Aulani in a 2 bedroom OV villa with my DVC points, and I worried those DCL passengers would have Aulani booked up. I was so happy when my 7 month window opened and I got what I wanted!

I've seen the Panama Canal and Transatlantic cruises sell just as cheap as the Hawaii cruises were going for CM (if not cheaper), and those cruises are 'sold out' a lot of the time...
- from a CM who always kept an eye open for a really good deal in the hopes my parents would try a cruise and come and visit me...

Because CM rates are not to be posted on a public forum.

Back when the Hawaii itineraries were available, what time of the year were they?
