No...you are not missing anything. His wife is one of my very best friends and they are nice people. They just really disliked the POP. When they got home they bought into DVC. They are a family of 6 and decided to go for two rooms at the Pop for their vacation in Feb. They said it was just terrible. :confused3 Don't know because I have never stayed there.

The funny thing is we even camp together...yes in campers. They are not snooty people by any means but they just really disliked the place.

That is so funny that you know them!!:goodvibes I totally got what he was saying....it was just a funny analogy....I loved that thread.:rotfl: I didn't pick up that he wasn't nice or was snooty & was putting people down...heck, he stayed there - he tried it...he just wasn't happy with it. :confused3 I have stayed PLENTY of places that I was less than thrilled at. It was HIS impression and probably pretty accurate.....I just love when the Dissers all gang up and things get so heated about STUPID things that they nitpick and take out of context. :rotfl:  That's the most amusing thing about the DIS...with the exception of this fun thread, of course.:rotfl:

Sorry Kristan! I know you are going to have a blast. It is good to know that you can go from the Pop to the GF ....adds character!

:thumbsup2 You go girl. :goodvibes

Kristin's gonna come back and tell us we're all dummies for paying to stay GF when we could stay Pop.

Boy...you sound like one of my other friends. She always tells me to "Take one for the home team" I am always complaining to her about those nights when I get in bed with the hubby and just feel like going right to sleep :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a nice night ladies!! Happy Hour time!

Peggy just emailed me and said she is going to look into getting custom made cakes for people. Right now she just does the publix regular cakes... nothing custom but she is going to research bakeries and see what she can come up with and get back with me.

Lindsey~

Peggy was looking around and found this cute Mary Poppins cake... she said she could ask around to see if a bakery makes it.... I told her I wasn't sure if you would think it was childish or if it was the style of mary poppins cake you liked... I think it is ADORABLE!

Brook, those cakes are amazing! I LOVE the Heffalump cake and the puppy in the handbag and the monkey cake!!! AND THE castle cake!!!! So who is "Studio Cake" and how do you get these cakes?? Where are they located?? I cant tell what part of that Mary Poppins cake is cake?:rotfl: It is precious, though. THey are just to die for.....and the GF is selling us slop.:rotfl2:

So, I watched the stupid "Disney on a Dime". Um....I think I missed the boat on it and good thing I DVRed it so I can watch it again and try and see WHAT exactly the money saving ideas are.:confused3 I noticed they did show a lot of shots of the GF.:rotfl: And then they said strollers are $8-10 day....wrong. Then some guy - I could have SWORN I heard him say - some counter services are all you can eat so you can fill up. ? huh? I thought it was just a commercial for Disney and there was a lot of misinformation...I noticed a lot while watching it. I enjoyed seeing the sights, but I didn't catch any real money saving tips. ME, Value resorts, nonhoppers....what did I miss? I did enjoy the Sam Brown show about Edinburgh, haha, that was on right before the WDW show...men in kilts.:goodvibes :rotfl:

Oh...how about when the family was renting the pontoon boat...they threw in that you can even go on a fishing expedition....they didn't mention that's an extra $250/hr. haha....such a deal. Also that part about if you are arriving later in the day don't waste your ticket on park entry - go to la Nuba instead, haha...that's another great cheapy. I think what this show best demonstrates is you really can't do Disney on a dime. :)

:)

DH : Why is it they can go to Disney for under 2 grand and we can't leave the airport for under 7 grand?!?!

Me: honey why don't you go on back to bed, you have to get up early in the morning....

DH: Oh that room at the POP is way too small, I would kill the kids if we were stuck in there with them all week......

DH: Oh sure stay at the cabins and walk 5 miles from the bus stop after being in the parks all day, carrying a princess....

DH: Well that food looks like SLOP......

DH: Hey why didn't we do the pontoon boat thingy? That sounds cool!

DH: Why is it they can go to Disney for under 2 grand and we can't leave the airport for under 7 grand?!?!
I just wanted to REPEAT his comment again at the end:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Channing~ Peggy sent me that link. I have no idea where they are located. I told her about our cake issues so she read the thread about the cakes and I am guessing googled for a mary poppins cake for Lindsey.

She emailed me with the pic and said she could check around at the local bakeries to see if they could make something similar. When I saw the cake I quickly checked out the other cakes from the same bakery and they were to DIE FOR!!!! I was over here just drooling!!!!

Did you see that pillow princess cake?!?! OMG that would have been soooo adorable for Savannah in cinderella blue!!!! :cloud9:

Yes! I forgot to comment that that princess pillow cake is perfect!!!! That would be great if you could get it in blue Cindy colors.princess: I wonder if that is some FL bakery?? Wouldn't that be fabulous if Peggy could get those cakes??? :goodvibes That will be the end of that slop they keep passing off to the GF guests.:snooty:

Yeah the bad part is I wouldn't be able to get my lips anywhere near it or I would be barfing for days...

I forgot to tell you when you asked... the sugar thing is NOT a choice.... I become violently ill whenever I eat more than 5-6 grams of sugar. We are talking fetal position screaming ...labor pain type ill.... along with tons and tons of dry heaving!!!!! RNY patients can't really throw up... we just suffer and dry heave:scared:

Is this a bad side effect of the surgery? IT DEPENDS on how you look at it..... I can promise you it curbed my addiction to sugar and all it took was 1 time and I was cured for life :rotfl:

ooo...is that something all RNY patients hve to deal with? I know how having to watch what you eat can be almost crippling at times. I had my gall bladder out 17 yrs ago and that severely messed with my system. :scared: I have to watch what I eat as far as fats and other things & it can make my life hell & also painful if the wrong thing goes down. I have been really lucky with the WDW food, though, now that they don't use transfats I am not jumping out of lines to make a bathroom run. That made a huge difference on the quality of my vacations....other places can be a different story. I have lots of stomach issues.

What if you get the stomach flu???? OMG...that's the worst....

Back from Happy Hour! The first thing I saw was that pillow cake. That is sooo dang cute. My youngest dd will turn 5 next year while we are at WDW and that is a must have. Very, very cute!

hmmm each patient has a different tolerance for sugar ... some can go as high as 10-12 grams of sugar at a sitting if they really push it.... if you keep pushing it and pushing it..your body can start building a slight tolerance to the sugar but ...welll.... not worth it IMO

See our stomach is NOT stapled like a lot of ppl believe. My stomach was actually cut away from my digestive system and is just hanging out in lala land doing nothing. Because of this I don't absorb vitamins as easily (especially B, iron and K)
I have to take suppliments for the rest of my life.
I also had a 100 cm of my thingy... dang its late and I cant think of the long tube wormy thing that runs through your guy..small large... what is it? hahaha I am so bad!
Anyway a 100 cm of that was completely bypassed along with my stomach.
When sugar hits my system it goes STRAIT to the liver... there is no breaking it down in the stomach acids. This sugar rush is called "dumping syndrom" and it is VERY painful!!! EXTEREMLY painful!!!! It is very helpful tool though!!! See I am 2 years out and can eat a lot more food than I could when I first had my surgery. I can eat ALMOST a normal sized serving of food... this can be dangerous if it was all junk I was eating :rotfl:

Another thing about us is we are the CHEAPEST drunks you can find :scared1:
I kid you not... 2 or 3 sips of wine and I am GOOD TO GO!!! A 1/4 glass of wine and DH is helping me walk to the door :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Because of this ... we process the wine FAST and sober up SUPER fast.... and we don't get hung over.. well at least I never have ...but then again I don't drink until I am falling down drunk either :rotfl: :rotfl:

Mare - congrats on the Tusker House breakfast! I am trying it with another DIS friend next Monday - I will let you know how it is, although it's supposed to be great! :thumbsup2

Holy crinkles, I love LTT!! I've always had a good time there. I LOVE the salad and that sweet butter and everything else.

The salad is so good I kept asking for more and the server said 'how about i bring out the main dshes and if you still want more sald i'll bring it out after'
uhhh no. Bring me more salad NOW!!! i said with a smile. :rotfl:

Me, too! We have had nothing but wonderful food and great interaction there the 3 times we've been. It is our tradition before hard-ticketed events! I love those rolls and butter!!!!

Yeah, that was the best part of the meal :thumbsup2 We also had a cake delievered there from the MK Bakery

I really don't need to see pictures of cute cakes....:rotfl: :rotfl:

We do dining each time also because I love to eat (and have mommy drinks;) We are not doing it for the days at the GF because we would have to book a package. We will pay OOP for the first three nights and plan on having snacks since we are staying in the SL. We will then move over to the BCV and then we will either do regular dining or deluxe. (maybe I should do deluxe since we have to pay for our VIP Guide's lunch!) Plus the girls are going to want to eat with Cindy at the castle and I want to try Hoop Dee Doo. (even though I do not like the menu!)

I think we will do 1900 Park Fare Xmas night and have the little glass slipper cakes deliverd for the girls. Then I will try for the sleigh ride.

FYI, Vanessa - we didn't have to pay for our guide's meal. In fact, she insisted (and a CP manager concurred, so we would believe her!) that Disney paid for her meals when she was touring a family - and she paid her part with a little credit card she had. Don't know why the outcome for others has been different (because we were prepared to pay for her meal, too). :confused3

I guess I am the only one on this thread who HATES CP!!!

I mean when I walk past it I get a full body shutter :rotfl2:

You know, we ate there for breakfast back in '05, and were seriously underhwhelmed. (We also had the toddler from he** sitting next to us, that screamed the entire meal except when a character was hugging him :sad2: ).

We ate lunch there in Dec. while on our VIP tour, and were thoroughly surprised. The food was outstanding! :thumbsup2 I am not a huge Pooh fan, but I'm going back for the food!
