Too bad about Narcoosees. We ate there in July and while it was good...service was OK. The waitress was brusk. She just wasn't warm and fuzzy at all or even NICE...kind of leaning toward FLo from "Alice" haha....(OK..showing my age here...Dawn, you know who I mean right?!? ) The Narcoosees steak has made me ill twice now so that's our last Narcoosees trip. Kinda not worth it.

I know who you are talking about!!! I used to watch Alice from my playpen. I don't know what my mom was thinking! I called it's Mel's Diner though!!!

I have gotten most of the school shopping done. Our uniform store we have to use is a DISASTER though and they never have the size I need regardless of whether I go in June or August or March for that matter. You can order stuff but you have to pay up front and you MIGHT get it 3 months later.

So did we in Feb. LOL. I bet it was the same one. He made sure to point out tip was not included in the DDP. Nevermind the fact that we had ordered over $200 (wine appetizers) that wasn't included in the plan ... I guess he thought we were going to stiff him.

I had to go check. No..it was Alice! They did work for Mel at his diner though! Belive me..I wasn't in my playpen when I was watching it!!

ALICE, based on the movie, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," ran from 1976 to 1985 and won many Golden Globes and Emmys. The series had several cast changes but the show was still incredibly popular throught it's entire nine-year run.

Alice Hyatt is a widowed mother with a teenage son, Tommy, who leaves New Jersey after her husband's death to move, and her car breaks down in Phoenix, Arizona. Her aspirations to be a singer, which would be hard without a backup job, require her to do something... anything. She becomes a waitress at Mel's Diner, a truckstop, where Mel is the cook and her boss. Mel is from Brooklyn, and has many stories from his childhood and his stint as Navy frycook.

Mel has two other waitresses... Flo, from Texas, who's slew of favorite expressions includes "Kiss my grits!!!" and "When donkeys fly!", and Vera, from New England, who is slightly ditzy, as Mel's nickname for her, "dingey," exhibits. Besides the regulars, several recurring characters are remembered warmly by fans, such as the telephone man, Henry (Marvin Kaplan), and Earl (Dave Madden).

I so recall Alice. I loved that show. Didn't it come on right before the Jeffersons on Sunday nights? And Love Boat and Fantasy Island on Saturday nights. Fantasy Island scared the bejesus out of me.

Speaking of old folks , I went to an Eagles concert on Saturday night. My absolute favorite band. Dh was bored to tears, I'm sure, but I love them. Anyway, we were by far the youngest fans there. Yes, there were other people there in their 30s, but they came with THEIR parents. It was an awesome show. Three-and-a-half hours of Eagles music. Couldn't have asked for a better Saturday night.

This weekend, it's just dh and me for Saturday night. The girls are spending the weekend with their godparents, who are taking them to see the Lion King musical at the Kennedy Center. We'll follow that with the Festival of the Lion King show at AK when we go next month. I wonder which one they will like.

Does anyone else with older kids feel like summers are busier than the regular school year? I swear, we have had something planned for EVERY weekend this summer. What happened to my nice and relaxing summer?

Yes, I know it was called "Alice" but I called Mel's Diner. I think I was 3 at the time, but for years and years (like until I was 20 probably!) I really thought the name of the show WAS Mel's Diner.

Hi ladies. Yes, we did have turn down service every night at the GF. We were left extra chocolates too. Had so many left that I put them in my purse when we left. Got by TSA at the airport with them!!! Nice to treat to have at night, even if I am now the one doing turn down service at home.

The server we had at Narcossee's name was Amir. He was from Germany, so said his name tag. If I go back again, I will ask not to have him serve us.

Linda~ I totally feel that summers are busier. I am starting to hit the "depression" that starts when summer is about to end. I am not ready for the girls to go back to school. We register tomorrow.

It seems like it was just yesterday we were all talking about our crappy winter weather and how we could not wait for summer. Now "POOF" it is gone.

I hope everyone has a good evening. Maybe I will get a chance to chat later.

This is what I get my ring tones from! I have green acres for my hubby, cops theme song for my sister, and star track for my geeky dad, I have the witches theme from wizard of oz set as my moms number, LOL, oh I am bad........

I love the Wizard of Oz, but I had not thought of that use yet!

hey, kel...i know..i was just thinking last nght i need to get Jojo new soccer shoes and shin guards. I can't get them too soon or she will say they're too tight the first time she goes to put them on for real. ugh. I know her.

I was at Walmrt yesterday and it's sick....no more summer stuff in the aisles...it's notebooks and pencils and glue.

Here's a little help, the button that looks like a quotation mark and plus sign is the multi quote button. You click it in every post you want to quote and then the last post you want to quote you just simply click the regular quote button and wallah you have multiquoted!

ANOTHER sunny day here!! I can't believe it!! I might finally get my good summer tan going! I still can't believe it's the end of July and I don't have it yet....even after a trip to FL.

I only have one ringtone....the song from "Carousel of Progress"....It's a great big beautiful tomorrow.......I have "my fives" haha....I wonder how to get a diff ringtone for each one. I bet I could...I didn't even think about it. More work for DH. I'll just slap it on the list.

So I have been checking SW's site almost daily to see if my flights have gone down- NOPE!!! They went up $26 ($13 each way) Guess I am glad I booked. We passed up Air Tran because of uncertainty in their furture existence, but I hope they are gone by December since it was a $120 pp flight difference!! (and they are part of RAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

We are off to Michael's... I have my eye on that giant 3-D Cupcake pan

Kristin and hobbester, the cupcake pan is fantastic and can be decorated so many different ways. It's in my cake pan collection!

I am on a mission today, ladies. Making plans to paint my den when it gets cooler (think Nov. here! Haha) and move some things around to make my tiny house more functional! Poor Hannah doesn't know where to walk because I have stuff EVERYWHERE! The weather is rainy here so I got moving. Now it is clearning up and Hannah wants to go swimming so I may have to abandon the reorganization for a bit.
