Im sorry about wishing for snow
but this is NY city we just dont get the good snow...its always to the north and west of us.
I can only remember two times where we had to stay home from snow
...one was around 1977 and one was 1996 or something like that.
And chan that 5 acres of golf lawn sounds great Im picturing the wheat and corn around...it sounds really nice... I think I was a country boy in a previous life
Hey Marvel- We can make you a country boy real quick but I must warn you of a few things first.
Country Livin Pros and Cons (whichever way you take it)
Population: 650
School Population High School: 68
Number of children in 2nd grade: 9
3 churches
1 post office
1 bar
1 bank
NO GAS STATION!
Closest mall: 45 minutes
Most people are related to eachother. Some who are related are also then married. (No Joke!)
If you go to the bar on Saturday night...people talk about you.
If you DO not go to church on Sunday...people talk about you.
If you go to the bar on Sat night and then not to church on Sunday...people really talk about you.
The bank: (love this place)
Overdraft protection- there is none. You get a nice little phone call from the bank lady asking you nicely to please bring in some money whenever you get a chance. No charge!
Counter checks: They are at the bar. If you need cash just ask for a check and sign your name.
Loans: You just walk in and ask for money and they give you a slip to sign and WALA! You have cash!
Con of this place is everyone knows HOW and WHEN you spend your money. Exactly why I just put our vacation on the Disney Visa.
Bank hours 9-3
Post office: Mails goes out everyday at 3:00 p.m. (totally stinks) but our postmaster is awesome. She puts all your stamps on your mail for you and also packages things if you bring them in.
School holiday: Deer Hunting season. Yep- we get days off for this. We also still pray before lunch and celebrate the National Day of Prayer.
Local driving age: Whenever you are big enough to get up in a tractor...you can drive!
Politics: 95% Republican...not many Obama signs in this neck of the woods. We are one of maybe 20 Democratic families.
I think that is about it! I do love it but sometimes wonder why in the heck I live here when I could live anywhere in the world!!
