Me too...wishing your son a complete recovery! :flower3:

 Thanks so much.:rose:

k&a&c'smom - I wish the best to your son and everyone in the family, hopefully in our lifetime cancer will become to us what polio was to our parents' generation - a thing of the past.

So, I made a promise to myself to not use my technology while down here or I'll be temped to "work." But with that being said -- how do I do pictures? Is there a tutorial somewhere I can look at - I've never posted a picture before.

Tom

Amen to that - they are making progress every day. Thanks about my boy.

There is a tutorial on the tech board for posting photos, let me go find it. It's pretty straight forward now, though. Join a photo hosting site like Photobucket, etc.; upload your photos to your account; when you view any of your photos, there will be several choices of lines of code - pick the one for "img" or "html", copy, then past it in your DIS post.:thumbsup2 ETA: I forgot to add, if your photo hosting site doesn't have an "img" code link, and you choose html, you may need to add this
at the end.

BRB with the link.:)

Tom (and anyone else looking for photo help) - here is a video tutorial from one of the webmasters on posting photos and other tech issues. Scroll down to the 3rd video for posting photos!

Another point I forgot to add to my previous message - I think I upload photos in 800 x 600 size, if I recall, it seems like a good size for the DIS. You can usually choose a photo size when you upload to your chosen hosting site.

Enjoy, and good luck!:goodvibes

k&a&c'smom, so sorry to hear about your DS, but so very happy to hear his excellent prognosis and that he is doing well! :flower3:

This is my neck of the woods today:

Oh, how I am missing the Grand!

Oh, how I am missing the Grand!
Yep, Jersey is getting snowed in today :coffee: Stay safe!

Hi pas :wave2:.....hope things are well with you!!
 All good in the hood, I may be making a Grand decision regarding my August trip...BC CL will be fab...but you know...it's not the Grand :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the hug and the offer. Will do.

I don't think you missed the sends offs, people snuck away in the dark of night!:rotfl2:

We'll miss the old decor, too - seeing as how we haven't gotten over the loss of the old, old decor!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
:rotfl: I am rather resistant to change in general...except resort change I guess :lmao:

And you better reach out if you need to  I am but a PM away.....:flower3:

Do you think they snuck out so they didn't have to deal with us sleeping in the closets and bathroom :scratchin

Gah!
Pictures! Please!
I have no idea why you're touring the parks and spending time with your family when we need to see pictures of the newly renovated rooms. Sheesh. Some people.

Kidding. ;) enjoy, but when you get a sec....get us pictures!
:rotfl: Love it!

Evening!

We are going to Disney THIS week!!!!

We had a bit of a scare.. Mom was admitted to the hospital on Friday. She passed out and hit her head, arm and shoulder. She is fine and was released today. Dr.s don't know why.. So I am planning on getting her a ECV in case.

I wanted to say about the door decorations.. You can make a cloth banner that you can hang over the door.. Then pin or sew your decorations on. Disney floral uses this to decorate doors.
I hope your Mom is feeling better today! And YAY for your trip THIS WEEK :cool1:

Just arrived at the Grand Floridian for our first stay and we received some major pixie dust!!! We are the first guests in a newly remodeled room in Conch Key!!! I can't believe it - even my hubby is impressed!!! The room is absolutely beautiful!!! They just opened the building to guests last night!

I just took a lot of pics (before the boys got into everything)! So excited to share! We're off to get lunch and then to Magic Kingdom.

I'll check back in later tonight!

Another who can't wait to see those pics....so exciting!!

Thanks about DS. We'll be glad to get through the next phase. I should say - he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a couple months ago, and had surgery mid-December. I haven't wanted to talk about it until we were further down the road, but things look real good. It's one of the cancers with a nearly 100% cure rate for his age/type, thank goodness. We feel incredibly fortunate in that sense.

Oh my, just saw this. I'm so sorry to hear about your DS and sending positive thoughts and prayers for your entire family! Also, just wanted to share that one of my dearest friends and one of my nieces were both diagnosed with thyroid cancer (one was in her late 30's while the other was in her early 40's). Both had surgeries and both are 100% cancer free...just another example that the cure rate for this type of cancer IS extremely high!
Many  coming your way!

The entryway and bathroom have wood flooring and there is tile in toilet/shower area. Any questions, ask away! :goodvibes

Thank you so much!!!
First impressions...meh. Maybe it's just such a shock. I don't mind the beds. I hate the armoire. Can we see bathroom pics? I think a little more color on the pastel side would be great. Am I the only one who thinks the sconces and the armoire look a little cheap? Eek.

Maybe it's the shock, not at all what I expected. I think I had a similar thought regarding the new Poly décor too....I like the daybed, beds..uh, picture on the wall...

Yay for pictures!!!!! Thank you so much DisneyDreaminginMI for getting those!!! :worship:

Ok, I love the room and decor overall...only iffy item is that armoire...don't love it, but it's ok I guess.

I'd really like to see the bathrooms though...popcorn::

A huge THANK YOU for the pics...hope you're having a wonderful vacation!

To all the GF vets, please forgive me for what I'm about to say but....

I actually LOVE the new room decor and think the room is beautiful!!!

Thanks again DisneyDreamingInMI for taking time out of your vacation to post pics for us.

I like the new decor too but I have never stayed at GF before to experience the other decor either though.

Yay for pics!!! I am LOVING the Mickey on the desk chair. I'm not overly wowed by the bed, but I adore the carpet, drapes and Alice art! So excited for our May trip. Squeeeeee!

DisneyDreaminInMI - THANK YOU!!:cool1::cool1:

Oh, how I am missing the Grand!

:sunny:

Thank you, much appreciated.

I don't blame you for missing the Grand - we're all getting tired of winter by this time, right?! I don't have as much snow here at my house, but we have a light layer with more expected tomorrow. Ugh.

Yep, Jersey is getting snowed in today :coffee: Stay safe!

Thanks, I will PM you. Everyone has been so kind, as I knew they would be - I just hated to post until I had some good news to share.:grouphug:

LOL - I think you are right, everyone was afraid we would try to tag along.;)

Good luck with your August trip, it's hard to resist the Grand!

Thank you very much, I really appreciate you sharing. So sorry for your friend and niece, but glad to hear it turned out so well. I didn't realize until recently how many people have been affected by this type of cancer, and so young. DS is 28.

Thanks for the hugs. Back atcha.:goodvibes

Thank you so much!!!

Me, me! That was my first thought - I didn't notice it as much with the sconces, but the armoire looked cheaply made right off the bat. I hope that isn't the case when you see it in person, but I don't think the TV case and base look like they go together.:confused3

I'm happy to see there IS wallpaper, at least, I was really bummed about the loss of that design element. Love the paper in the bathroom/hallway, but I don't like the idea of wood flooring in that area, I was hoping that aspect of the villas would stay there. I'm just not used to resort rooms with wood(look) flooring.

Maybe it's the shock, not at all what I expected. I think I had a similar thought regarding the new Poly décor too....I like the daybed, beds..uh, picture on the wall...

~sigh~ Well, the best I can say is...it's prettier than I expected, I guess. I'm not a big fan of all the red, but I suppose I can get used to it. I like the desk and desk chair, I wish the rest of the wood furniture was more in that style - it's kind of a mish mash of eras as far as the furniture goes. To me, anyway. Lots of beige, unless the carpet is blue? I can't tell for sure.

THAT IS BEAUTIFUL!

cant wait to stay there in may.

There are photos of the beach shared by JoBird on the first page, in the "recreation" post. I'll post a link for you in a bit.:flower3:

HAHAHA!! So typical of us, we are so greedy. "Hey, thanks for those, could we see it from a different angle?!":rotfl: I'm with you, I want to see what the entry and bath/dressing area looks like. It might ease my dismay.;)

A huge THANK YOU for the pics...hope you're having a wonderful vacation!

To all the GF vets, please forgive me for what I'm about to say but....

No need for forgiveness, you are more than within your right to love it.:goodvibes (that didn't sound at all patronizing, hehe) I am not a fan of red, so that hits me in the face right off and from there, it's a struggle to find things I like.

Love the art! Maybe that tones down my criticism a little.;)

HairyChest - here is the link to the Recreation post - scroll down past the pool and splash zone photos to get to the beach pics.:beach:

Thanks again DisneyDreamingInMI for taking time out of your vacation to post pics for us.

I like the new decor too but I have never stayed at GF before to experience the other decor either though.

:goodvibes I think many of us were more than ready to do away with the bedspreads, but speaking for myself, I was hoping for something more in keeping with the Main Lobby decor. I loved the old wallpaper, both the older stuff in the bath/dressing area and the newer damask-type in the bedrooms.

Yay for pics!!! I am LOVING the Mickey on the desk chair. I'm not overly wowed by the bed, but I adore the carpet, drapes and Alice art! So excited for our May trip. Squeeeeee!

Ooh, now I've got to go back and look at the desk chair, I was so excited I scrolled through too quickly.;)

May will be here before you know it.

Wow! I love the new decor!

Personally, I felt the rooms were a little bit too 1980s Laura Ashley and I'm not so much of a fan of peach. :rotfl:

I find that the new colors is very laid-back and relaxing. The new furniture looks very Disney if that makes any sense. That paisley is very victorian, it looks like the design crew researched victorian textile!

Thanks for the pictures!

Anyone else hate that "mirror" over the daybed? It doesn't work on any level - not big enough for the space, not the right period and the mirror is too small to be of much use.~sigh~

Maybe they'll replace it, I remember 2 refurbs back they put a mirror in the Poly rooms that ended up being switched out by the end of the renovations.:scratchin Dreaming, I know.

I hope they left the hamper in the dressing area, but I get the feeling it is gone.:worried: DisneyDreamingInMI, can you tell us, is the hamper and the bench at the end of the bed still there?

Glad you like the new rooms!:thumbsup2

Are you sure you are talking about the most recent decor? The rooms prior to 2007 could be likened to Laura Ashley, lots of whimsy and pattern. There is no peach in the current rooms (meaning, the decor that is currently being replaced), the color scheme is/was gold, blue, green and a burgundy daybed.

Thank you, DisneyDreamingInMI, for the pictures!

I am underwhelmed. Everything is pretty generic, and I agree with k&a&c'smom about the mirror over the daybed. I will really miss having a comfy reading chair. Although the blue chair was not a design or style that I would look at twice in a furniture store, it was extremely comfortable and was my favorite place to relax when in the room. Oh well. Here's hoping the decor will be more festive in person. The headboards are pretty, but I wonder how well the light color will wear.

It looks like they have eliminated the floor lamp and the light sources will be just the desk lamp and the 3 sets of sconces. The rooms looked darkish from the outside with just the sconces on. Another favorite thing for me was how light the rooms were...

Hi. I just booked a theme park view room in the main building for my 40th birthday this summer.
We MAY be doing a three night cruise prior to our stay at the Grand. (Disney Dream). Would we get to the resort by the afternoon to make a 1/2 day cabana rental worthwhile?

Also, how is the main building? We have stayed at the WL club level. Love the convenience....especially for breakfast.

Would love opinions.
Thanks!
