Have your gas prices risen yet because of Katrina?

Well our whole county will be out of gas by tomorrow. The city I live in already is out of gas. I topped my car off at $2.59 today. The gentletman that owns the gas station did not raise his prices like so many of them did. I waited in line for 10 minutes to get gas. But, even though I am concerned about how we are going to make it, I am still so sorry for the people who have lost everything.

I had no idea Louisiana and Mississippi supplied the country with all its gas!

$2.57 pre-Katrina
$2.68 this morning
$2.79 on my way home from work.

Got a bulletin at work today that said best case scenario, it would risk to $3.00 for 4 months. Worst case? $3.75 for 6 - 8 months.

It was just on CNN that there's a BP gas station in Atlanta charging $5.57 a gallon for regular, $6.07 for premium.

Gas is $3.09 or $3.29 depending on the station for regular unleaded here in eastern Kentucky. It was $2.69 yesterday. Geesh! :confused3

Wow, pretty bold statement.....

How so?

Where I live I can well imagine if my town ran out of gas, the entire county would be out as well. It's not really a stretch.

ours went up to $8.55 in ireland.
As with any essentials people will pay what's necessary

Not a bold statement at all. I'm in GA.....my WHOLE county is out of gas....the counties next to me are out of gas.....

Stop and read before everybody jumps on everybody COUNTY small area vs COUNTRY all of the US.

It's up .25 - .50 from yesterday. Glad I filled up last night.

My co-workers wife called in to work and said 3 of their local gas stations were closed. And we're in NJ!

Yes, and I'm very annoyed. It was $2.59 this morning, anywhere from 2.69-2.89 now.

That's gouging, hopefully someone will report them for that.

I saw $3.04 on the way home in Oxford, MA. Self-serve unleaded. Yikes. I was like $2.74 last wk.

$3.09 here at the cheapest place in town for regular
Although after I filled up I noticed the Mobil right by I-295 (normally the most expensive in the area) hadn't raised their prices yet - it was $2.79 for regular. They also had someone directing traffic because the lines were so long it was affecting the hwy on and off ramps.

It's not gouging- it's the law of supply and demand. Today, there are many gas stations in Atlanta that have no gasoline. If prices rise enough, supply will not be an issue. It's the basis of capitalism and a free market economy.
