Have your gas prices risen yet because of Katrina?

Yesterday---Sunoco and Shell were at maybe $2.78....today Sunoco was $2.91..and ladies and gentleman....I just saw my first $3.00 a gallon gas....at the Shell.

Luckily--Sunoco is a good "cheap" option.

How so?

Where I live I can well imagine if my town ran out of gas, the entire county would be out as well. It's not really a stretch.

B/c the area affected only supplied 1/3 of the nation's energy and not 100%.

Gas is plentiful in my neck of the woods.

It's not gouging- it's the law of supply and demand. Today, there are many gas stations in Atlanta that have no gasoline. If prices rise enough, supply will not be an issue. It's the basis of capitalism and a free market economy.

You would have to compare there price to the national average before the hurricanes.

I am willing to bet that they were much much lower.

It is gouging----a man got arrested in Chicago and he was only charging what? $3.59.

How in the world is Atlanta worthy of being a whole $2 more per gallon?

One cannot deny that some stations are indeed taking advantage of the situation. Taking advantage---is gouging. And I do believe an executive order in Georgia has or will be signed that Georgia cannot price gouge due to Katrina.

Okay, I see. You're talking entire country whereas that particular poster was talking county!

I misread. It was a mistake. I assume I am not the only one.

county and country....are one letter apart. This lesson brought by the letter "r" and my brains wackiness.

I just got gas this morning at the Hess station across from DTD. It was $2.90. I had to wait ten minutes to get to a pump. My sister just called me and told me the line to get gas at Sam's Club was 30 cars deep.

While looking at some AP Photos, I saw this from a station in Stockbridge GA:

While many stations in GA are without gas, I find this an outrage. How unfair..... I understand the whole *supply and demand* thing ~ but this is uncalled for.

My van was almost full but I filled it completely up this morning. I went to Kmart Xpress and it was 3.12. I put 4 gallons in @ $12.48 :earseek: .

By the way, why don't they just price it $3.12 instead of $3.11-9/10? :confused3

We're well into the 3's now, it was 3.29 this morning. I filled up day before yesterday at 2.79 and I'm trying to conserve what I have for as long as I can.

oh yes!!!!! From $2.48 to $2.99 here in parts of the DFW Metroplex. Anything over regular is wel lover $3.00!!! I've seen premium at $3.50!

Most of the stations in my town are out now. The ones that still have it are about $3.20.

We're at $2.89, .30 cents a gallon increase since Sunday.

No lines, no shortages.

Someone in our brilliant legislature came up with the idea of a .05 a gallon gas tax increase. The vote comes up this fall.

The chances of it passing??....:rotfl:

There were places in Satellite Beach on A1A that had the cheap stuff for $2.69 last night. I gried to get DH to stop and fill up at that price, but he didn't  MEN!

My mom told me that the Mobil station in our neighborhood just went up to 3.25.

I paid 2.79 yesterday morning. This afternoon regular unleaded was selling for 3.19. :confused3

Locally at 3.19 to 3.29 where it was 2.74 yesterday. Seems to vary by which refineries they get their gas from at this point. The stations that are running very low are priced higher.
