I don't know about this. We had two separate ressies for Disney because we went to Uni/IOA in between. We had two separate sets of magic bands, we weren't able to use the same ones when we checked back in.........Don't know why, they were immediately deactivated. Wouldn't it have been easier to reactivate them rather than sending us another set? I'm a bit puzzled about this.

Thanks for the info. My band shows it is still activated. It might be because I have an AP linked to the band. Im not stressing over it.

I was wondering I asked on another thread but nobody knew. As people have actually used the system somebody might. When you link a credit card to a magic band and you buy something does this get charged to the room to pay at the end of stay or does it get charged there and then? The reason I ask is we like charging to the room and check the bill. Also sometimes we pay by cash we have left over rather than charge all to card. I still want that option if poss.

Linking credit cards to the band is the same as linking the KTTW room cards. I haven't confirmed our credit card statement but all the charges should have hit upon checkout (saves Disney from having to pay multiple credit card company transaction fees).

Charging to the band requires entering the pin number chosen by the guest at check-in.

Minors can have charging privileges assigned to their bands with a card holder assigned limit on the total amount they can charge.

That's very helpful thank you! I wonder why then pp had issues with pin code and magic band for the credit card if it's one you select on check in?

This is true! I charged using my MB, and was able to pay my charges the night before I checked out, just as I do with my KTTW card. BTW, for those of you that don't know, your pin code stays attached to your guest file and follows you from stay to stay until you change it.

That's good to know because sometimes we like to settle the charges with cash. Good to hear that the pin code does not change! I didn't realise that cool :-)

My answer probably is not going to be much help but we were 4 people with the same cc attached and the same pin code attached. 3 of us it worked fine, 1 of us it didn't so he had to reenter a pin #. I'm thinking that it is just a system hiccup.

We did not attempt to upgrade our passes after being told not to. We are doing it tomorrow after we use our last fp+. The cm said, ” you will lose anything you've preselected for the beta test.” So I hope they ate working on fixing it.

Wishes from the rose garden was wonderful. It's not head on, but we got to sit on the grass and they had a photo pass photographer. MSEP was also so so awesome. They were both small areas so I imagine they will go first and very fast.

We have F! tonight.

So lets begin!

I got back a couple of days ago and have been dreading writing this but...

So, if you want to see part one of my "Experience" you should go to page one.

Once the MagicBands got here they felt comfortable and I liked the lightweight material. It was also stylish and the colors were very vibrant. Fast forward to the day we were leaving. We got on our plane from MHT to MCO with no problems. We got there and went on Magical Express. Not so Magical. For like 10 minutes the belligerent driver messed around with his microphone which wasn't working. He refused to take that though. He began to try and fix it which produced the most horrible feedback that my inner ears are still cringing. Once he decided it was time to go because we were probably behind schedule we left. Then we heard some more feedback and it was time for us to get off at our stop. We were doing a split stay between club levels at CR and the Poly. CR was first so we headed to the elevators. In the beginning our MagicBands did not work to get up to the club level but later on I figured it out. We went to check in and our room wasn't ready so we hung around until it was. We came to find out my brothers MagicBand did not work. The rest of us were fine. So we entered our beautiful room and it was grand!

The next day we were off to the Magic Kingdom. The Bands worked well on the turnstiles to get into the parks and worked nicely for our Fastpass+ reservations as they did until the near end of our trip. After a wonderful stay at CR, which I highly recommend now, we were off to the Poly! Our Bands didn't work at all there though. So regular key cards for us! Then our room was on the second floor not the one we requested so we would move out the next day. The next day we moved into our new room on the first floor only to find that in the room next to us was a family that liked to smoke. So I caught this guy on his patio smoking. I quickly snapped a pic an showed it to the concierge. I was astounded on how many people I caught breaking the rules! Then we had a little problem with Magical Express, again. So we gave the bags to the people and sat down to wait for our bus that was supposedly to come at 5:40 AM. Now, we had done everything right even called ahead of time to confirm the time. Alas, we waited for 30 minutes past 5:40 for our bus. Then we had to travel an extra 30 minutes to pick up other people. Yes, all 3 OF THEM. We barely made it back to New Hampshire.

Sadly, after our switch to the Poly. Our Bands kind of slowed down and MDE deleted most of our Fastpasses. We were also going to eat at BOG but MDE lost the reservation. They also stopped saying the Band was valid for charging.

Out of the whole experience with the bands I would give it 5/10. We were still happy to try out the Bands and give them feedback though.

I'm anxious to hear about the F! FP+, please let us know how that is

And interesting about wishes and a photo pass guy being there, that might make me consider that if it were an option for me.

We did F! FP+ and the seating area is prime but we had some issues with the front ppl understanding that we could show up at anytime during our window and they didn't have the ability to deny us entrance because of a timeframe they decided in their head. I had words with them and made a complaint at GR who said they had been getting a lot of complaints about the F! FP being run incorrectly. So hopefully they have worked the kinks out but I wouldn't show up at the end of your window, just in case. ;)

I found a limitation with FP+ and Soarin'. We were able to get on three times consecutively with the same fast pass time. We only tapped the bands at the entrance and not at the top of the concourse. At the end of the fast pass time I changed the time and we got to use them all over again. Still testing the limits of the system so more to come. ....

Can anyone tell me if MagicBands are linked to the room prior to arrival or at the front desk?

Yesterday, I switched my Room Only reservation to a package, which essentially means that they had to cancel the Room Only and rebook as a package. So now when I view my MagicBand online, it shows that its linked to the old confirmation number, not the new one. Can this be corrected when we check in??

Ok. Here now, first full day using them, day not done yet, and who knows what the rest of the week may bring, but up to now the MBs and FP+ are AWESOME!!!! They change the way you tour in a very positive, very relaxing way.

Would I like more FP+ in MK? Yes. Is only 4 a dealbreaker? No.

On a side note, today is our 12th anniversary. Not sure if that was it or not, but we finally got a mythical Disney room upgrade when we checked in yesterday!!! We're in 3rd floor of Contemporary garden building in a one bedroom, ridiculously huge room with panoramic water views, two tvs, two bathrooms and view of the monorail!!!! I'm still in disbelief wondering if they'll kick us out.... :-)

This may or may not impact my views of the MBs and FP+, but I'll try not to let it. ;-)

they are linked prior to arrival If your room has already been assigned. otherwise they are assigned when you check in.

Thank you for the feedback on your trip and the MagicBands. I noticed that you previously mentioned that the bands could not be used to access the club level from the elevator:
Our MagicBands don't connect to the elevator so we have to enter through our regular key cards. Meh.
I was wondering if the bands do work in the elevator/provide access to the club level in some other way or if the key cards are still needed.

Thank you!

Pre trip-45 minutes on phone with the support while they attempted to link my fast passes to the other two people in my room who only had teo day passes (and were going to upgrade them upon arrival). I was told it was all worked out after 45 min.
Arrival day. Fast passes are not linked- cast member and I spend 1.5 hours together at concierge while they try to figure out how to link the newly upgraded tickets with AP. poor Alice (cast member)- she then told us she was going to have to "force the system" and manually add each and every day (12) for both upgraded tickets. Alice let us go to parks and she handled the rest- perfect . Bands did not work for snack purchase at ice cream stand (said we did not have dining plan). They did not work at lunch either- had to swipe the room card instead. Back to guest relations at MK. They fixed the meal plan thing and then I spent an hour waiting while they fixed the two day ticket (the one you need to buy with a package even though you have an AP). By using the band to enter the park, the band automatically used a day from the two day ticket instead of the annual pass.
Other issues- twice we walked across the park to rides that were down that we had fast passes for. 45 minutes later I received an email stating that our fast pass experience had Been altered and we could select a new experience without having to log in- basically to just go use our bands wherever we wanted for one ride.
Day two: one hour wait at concierge while they added a fourth unexpected guest to my room (nephew joined us- so I bought him 8day ticket)- which then wouldn't show up on his band because I paid with a Disney gift card (from visa points).
Between pre trip and current issues- including waiting for food band issues to be resolved- I have spent about 5 hours with band related aggregation in two days.
Today I have fast passes for TSM ,RNR and star tours. Hopefully avoiding the TsM push will be a benefit and I can post some positive things tonight.
For the people who are double dipping by using their room keys- more power to you-- the only way I could see a benefit to that is if your paper pass is close to an attraction that you have a fast pass plus for and near te same time or if you pull fast passes for way before or after your assigned times-- otherwise you are doing a lot of back and forth tracking
