This thread was started out of all the (15 I believe) different threads RE: Magic Bands/FP+
Please keep it to people who've USED the bands and especially FP+ How was your experience? Did you plan and then change? How did the limits affect your park hopping and number of rides?? Let us know here-the whole community is dying to hear about it!!!

I'd love to hear about some first hand experiences! I was invited to participate but would love to hear user reactions before agreeing!

Thanks for stopping by-myself and another member were posting on one of the 15 some odd FP+/MM+ threads and were sick of sifting through tons of pages of speculation and conjecture-so please let us know how your trip goes and post any and all comments here-don't be bashful either!! If its horrible-say so and expound upon possible remedies! if its Magical then tell us all about it. Hopefully this thread will cut down on the speculation and stuff and give people real results!

We just set all our things up yesterday. Took us 3 hours switching from the MDE app to the computer, then to the IPad. But we got our magic band preferences and Fastpass+ times too. We are going 8/6-8/10 at CR CL then 8/11-8/15 at the Poly CL. We were able to book Fastpass+ on the days we were staying at the Contemporary. Hopefully. The whole process was confusing and needs to be dumbed down. The site would crash and then it would be "Back to the drawing board" ! We had to "link" tickets from Undercover Tourist to MDE to each specific person, that took forever. It kept deleting DDad! Then we did this thing where we would choose what people, what park, what attractions, and what time we wanted to book. It was all pretty complicated, but once you got the hang of it, it was sorta fun. Now all we have to so is test them and see what we think! I grade the before process 5/10 It's not unbearable, and I would put up with it every trip. :D

I was offered a test back in December so not sure it is the same or not.

We were given MK and DS on specific days of our stay and the times that were available to us we mostly couldn't use. (This was like 10 days before we left! Who waits till then to plan?)

We were given if I remember right like 5 or 6 things to pick from each park but could only do 4.

Was not able to co-ordinate with other family members staying at same resort we were, their times and info was different, called Disney but they could/would not change it.

We ended up not using any of it because it just didn't fit into what we had planned. I did change our park days to try to fit the passes but over all it was not worth the hassle!

Thanks for coming by! I'm hoping you'll have better experiences once you get rolling in August! The main burning questions seem to be about the ability to park hop and also the limits on FP+ and how the standby lines are/whether or not you'll get same day FP+ in the park. Do come back and let us know...

(On a side note-I'm going to stay CL at CR in 9/2014 and can't wait!! 7 nights/8 days-my first trip to disney in 20 years!!!! I tried to get the 14th floor but want guaranteed a MK view so I booked the 12th floor-would you let me know how the rooms are and what the 12th floor room layout is if that's where you're staying?? Also I'm curiois how hard is it to switch resorts and do you lose a whole day doing it or is it like a wake up, roll out to the park and then return to the other hotel??)

Thanks for stopping by Michelle-it seems like you got one of the first tests(so not fair I wouldn't want to be that person!) and I hope you got a chance to do everything you wanted to do at disney-did you wind up getting regular fastpass at all?

Im participating in the August test. No issues at all in scheduling my FP+ for 2 of my 4 days. I pulled my passes to fit my touring style, so I am happy. I will report my results!

Thanks so much! We'll all be looking forward to it!

We are going in August as well and are testers. I was able to schedule FPs and my magic bands will arrive on Monday. Very excited and happy to report after our trip. :)

Regarding switching resorts - we've done this several times and it is very easy. Pack up your suitcases and bell services will take care of getting them to your new resort. Go to the park(s) and, when you're done for the day, go to your new resort and check in. I don't understand why folks think this is a wasted day or so difficult to do.

I didn't-but my fiancé a former cm did seem to think "You'll lose a day"

We're using them right now staying at bay lake. Im posting this waiting on rock n rollercoaster. Our impressions are these are amazing. We only plan tomorrows rides at night when we decide what the next days park is. We've done switching on the fly too and in some cases were able to switch rides with current time slots and just o and ride.

The ease of use of the fast pass+ system is amazing honestly and the wifi performance in the parks is very tolerable for what you need it for.

If anyone has specific questions let me know. I'll try and check back tonight.

Golf,

Have you been able to use the band for a TS meal?

Do you have TIW? How did the band work if yes?

How about eating or shopping at DVC discounted places, did the band show the discounts or did you have to give your DVC card?

We haven't eaten table service yet. Will be at be our guest Friday.

Not sure what tiw is so can't comment.

Haven't shopped yet either haha so I'm pretty useless. We have mainly been. Using for fp+, tickets, counter service, ice cream bars and pop etc.

Golf,
How late are you able to switch rides? Is it at the start of the fastpass window? Or the end? Just wondering if I'm in my fastpass window and find that I can't make it in time, can I reschedule the ride or time? Thanks!

That one I can answer!

Today at Epcot we missed our window for spaceship earth (I know I know not the most popular but its July and everything's crowded). I decided to try and see if I could change it after the window closed and I was able to reschedule it for a window beginning 5 minutes later than the current time.

This scheduling was all done while walking through Mexico Pavillion towards spaceship earth realizing we had missed our window by a half hour already.

Very cool to do and when we got to spaceship earth we scanned our magic bands, the workers greeted us each by name and were so excited because we were their first magic band users on the ride.

The band is awesome and I can definitely see future enhancements for character meets where characters will already know your name before you even step up.

Thank you for this thread. We will be there 8/4 to 8/10 and I will report back. My biggest issue with the set up is if you have more then one email on file with Disney it does not always reconize you when you are trying to set up the bands. They were very helpful and did work with us for a good day and got it sorted out. The other issue we've discovered, which I assume will sort itself out ones it goes live is we are on a CM Friends and Family trip (my son is a CM) and in this testing period CM's are not permitted to participate in Fast Pass+ so he will not be able to ride with us. We have planned our scheduled ride times for when he will be with us. As we are DVC, I will let you know if the band registers the DVC discounts. We are on the counter plan, so I will report also on how that worked with the bands.

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting us know!!! I have three questions:

1. Did you plan ANY FP+ in advance?
2. How about your ADR's did you use the app?
3. Have you park hopped at all and used any standby lines? Or have you been able to get any regular FP??
