Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

48 hours after 2nd Pfizer...

My chills and achy skin went away overnight. I was pretty nauseous in the middle of the night. Just slightly nauseous and a little dizzy this morning. My arm is barely sore. My muscles hurt like they do after having a fever, but not bad.

Hoping that was it for me!

I had my second Moderna shot yesterday morning. Slept well last night. Woke up with a slight headache. Went to work this morning. Arm soreness is almost gone now. Overall fairly side effect free. My unscientific research shows my female coworkers definitely had more reactions (fever, body aches, dizziness) than my male coworkers. My mother had zero reactions to her two Pfizer shots, so maybe my almost non reaction is in the genes.

My husband's grandmother got her 2nd dose of Maderna on Monday. This time she only said she had a sore arm.

I got my first dose of Maderna on Wednesday. Yesterday had a sore arm to the point I couldn't really move it without being almost in tears. Wednesday night I wasn't able to sleep nor was I able to fall asleep when I tried to take a nap yesterday. I had also lost my apatite. All have resolved today except a sore arm. Though it is much better and not something I need to take meds for any longer. I do have a sinus headache today but that could be from not taking my singular the last 2 days.

My mom got her 2nd dose of Pfizer this morning. She was pretty dizzy after first dose so she told them this morning as a precaution. The nurse took her in another room to keep a closer eye on her and said she most likely just needed for fluids last time. They had her drink water while she was waiting. She did not get dizzy this time.

Essentials in my state just got pushed back again — this time because teachers got moved to a higher category. Some of these teachers still haven’t returned to their classrooms since last March but by all means, let’s prioritize them ahead of everyone else that has actually been working. Gotta get ‘em fully vaccinated in time for summer break.

I hear your frustration. In my state they vaccinated teachers group 1a, but didn't prioritize teachers who were in-person over teachers who were remote. So even though the state is now supposedly in group 1b, I know in-person teachers who haven't been able to get a shot, and fully-remote teachers who are also fully vaccinated. Not a fair way to do it at all.

College professors who are fully in-person were pushed to group 1c, and we've been told that we may not get vaccinated until June- after the in-person semester is over.

It’s ridiculous. The ones who have been home shouldn’t even be on the priority list at all. The ones in person shouldn’t be prioritized any higher than anyone else on the list. Grocery store workers haven’t missed a day. I’ve been going to the same store this entire time and I still see the same faces I saw on March 13 as I do today. They absolutely deserve the chance to be offered before any teacher (myself included and I’m not a teacher).

It’s been 24 hours from my 2nd Moderna and I got hit pretty hard with side effects. I had intense nausea 4 hours out and that lasted a couple of hours. Around 12 hours out, I woke up with chills, fever of 102, headache and body aches. I held out taking Tylenol until this morning and that reduced my fever and brought my heart rate down to normal. Even with the Tylenol, I ache all over. My immune system is definitely reacting to the vaccine. I’m uncomfortable, but not terrible. As long as the nausea doesn’t come back, this is manageable.

My husband has no side effects from his 1st Pfizer yesterday. Not even a sore shoulder.

DS24 had his 2nd Pfizer yesterday and is only tired today. No other side effects.

My husband was able to get a leftover shot :)

That's great! The whole last appointment of the day thing seems to sometimes work out for people!

Has anyone heard of the Gatorade trick? DH's cousin is a doctor and had something on FB about an extremely unscientific experiment that docs in their practice tried where some of them drank Gatorade just before getting their vaccine and others didn't. Those who drank it had less symptoms, especially after the second shot. I'm usually not one to post crazy, unproven theories, but I will definitely be grabbing some Gatorade before my second Moderna! Why not go in super hydrated with electrolytes? If it could possibly lessen the issues that many people are reporting, then I'm in!

I'm curious if anyone has any kind of allergic reaction to the vaccine. After a bad reaction to the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine, the type of reaction I had was similar enough to other allergic reactions and I was told to contact my primary care physician on what to do. I've been referred to an allergist and ultimately his opinion is what

I think it’s possible to get a 2nd dose. I read this the other day.

My sister is allergic to shell fish. Her doctor advised against getting the shot until she consults with an allergist.

My brother is 77. He did not get the shot before contacting Covid. He was fine at first but his symptoms quickly worsened. Within two days, he is now on a respirator and has kidney failure. It's not looking good. He lives in Texas. Not sure why he wasn't able to get vaccinated before all this happened.

I am so sorry for your brother.

Thank you for your kind words. Folks should definitely take this virus seriously and get vaccinated. That being said, I know there isn't enough yet to go around.

DH and I are getting 2nd Pfizer shot tomorrow. We are teachers and have been in person (hybrid) all year. Our state (Ohio) offered school districts the opportunity for the vaccine if the district committed to in-person learning by March 1. Because we have been in all year, we qualified. He did fine with first shot and I had headache, fatigue, muscle aches along with the standard sore arm. I am immune compromised, so I am thankful to be able to get the vaccine, but am nervous about the second dose. We've both had to quarantine twice so far this year.
